It's funny how the same specie of fish will differ in other parts of the country. A smallie that size might be a 7-9 year old fish in the Olentangy River where this was filmed in Delaware, Ohio. In another area of the country he may only be 2-3 years old. Things vary considerably but, the important thing is that we both enjoy the sport of fishing.
@Fishnwithjoe yea joe nice fish! where i fish for small mouth (slippery rock creek PA) thats a better than average fish! but who cares cause any small mouth fights like hell! i usually use my light wieght rod and reel to make them all seem bigger! lol
ii live in the uk scotland and i fish but i cant fish with a fly on a spining rod but i don it and a cout a one and a half lbs sea trout i no that that looks small but it is the biggest av ever cout can u give me any tips on how to cach that big one av bin looking for

good smallmouth. i never hooked a smallie that big. my biggest one was only about ten inches. im a largemouth bass fisher and my biggest one was 18 inches 5 pounds. still nice smallmouth.

Fishing is for everyone and everyone should enjoy the fishing they have in their local waters. Dale Hollow produces the biggest smallmouth in the world and ok walleye. Lake Erie produces enormous walleye and great smallmouth. Doesnt mean that those in Dale Hollow should stop fishing for walleye and those on Lake Erie need to stop fishing for Smallmouth. Every fish is a blessing I'm thankful for this Olentangy River smallie. It is a monster for that section of River.

nice lil one up by vermillion minnesota i catch 4 to 5 lb smallmouth they will pull your rod out of your hands no lie they can snap medium action rod
