@janjaso without a lockup clutch in the convertor it'll spend more time slipping then taking off... +1 for manual conversion, even though I believe he sold it
i might sound stupid , but i just thought u seem to know some quality info on falcons
I was wanting to get a second car, something that would not mind the kms, and i was thinkin of a falcon or a commodore.....i eventually did see a falcon SR forte, and would eventually want to get it on LPG. my question is what badge of the falcon wud LPG work best or easily available (Xr6 or SR forte )....and what is better falcom or commodore ....
@Mendooranite ok i got a N/A and i put 4.11s in it and it hammers alrite now. i can only imagine what it would go like with a turbo. ill have to get a vid soon
@Mendooranite hey mate just wondering if you live in nsw somewhere? i would like to give you a run to 100, im in a 02 au falcon just stock @ 157rwkw im pretty sure im still on my reds, well i can get my greens if i wanted but im short on cash just wanna compare speeds cause iv been thinkin about doin this to my car atm when i get off my reds. hit me up bro!
@dncreppin At an off street track sure. Dont know what it would prove, but I have wanted to run a 1/4 in it. WSID would be OK if there was enough notice.
@dncreppin this car would leave u 100m behind on the quarter mate. a stock AU falcon makes around 95-100rwkw (157kw ) at the fly. this car has easily more than double the power of a stock car..
@dncreppin i know bud im just saying that u cant really tell how fast it is by video. This car is quicker than his Ba xr6t 0-100 and theyre no slouch. I drive a stock au every week and own a worked EF and yeah au will do 0-100 in about 8 seconds. but yeah post a vid on here, make sure u show that its flat ground tho :D
You need to intercept some wires from the ECU and put a switch on - there would be some guides on line to do it, I didnt fit this one, a mate put it on for me.
Thanks - let me clarify that $11K Included, the car ($3900) Engineering ($600) 2 engines ($1450) a spare trans ($1000) Plus the Turbo Kit itself ($3000) Cooler and pipes ($580) when you look at it that was its maybe not as bad as one might think.
Not really, its a drive anywhere kind of car and I want to keep it driving till December 2010. At that time I give the XR6T to my partner as her daily and I get a typhoon. This car will then be sold.
I reckon good on ya mate, people dont realise that the AU forte was 1600Kg+ and had 157kw at the flywheel when they were new. I wont even get into how poorly they ( and most falcons ) are geared, the ford autos do let them down a bit, i dont know what its like with the kitted one that you have, but the differnce between auto and manual falcons has always been huge.
Good video, zero bullshit and good method, no wannabe little boy behaviour, well done. Would like to see some quarter times I believe your machine would be deceptively quick. that was 2.16 well spent cheers
wonder if it needs a bit more fuel? more exhaust? with that much boost, should go harder than that. maybe get an AFR meter to check. remember: LPG needs different lambda than petrol.
nothing like a good sleeper to wake up all the posers!
haha, this is awsome! you need to take it to legal drags, image everyones faces when they see the au rock up, thinking whats this bloke thinking! then when you do your first run everyone will be asking you whats in it, haha good work!
Hi mendooranite, i`m interested in how you manage the ecu , do you run an after market computer or is the standard ecu able to tuned enough for the turbo, nice sleeper by the way ;)
Good to see a bloke showing off the performance of his cars (including your ba gas/turbo) with out seeing you hooning at double the speed limit or doing burnouts in the middle of the suburbs. Well done mate, would love to see an in car cam of the xr6 turbo though! Keep it up
I did a 0-100 run on my Ghia last night and it was very dissapointing. :( 9.5-9.8 seconds. I have heard alot of hype regarding lower performance running LPG compared with petrol, what are the facts behind this? Is it true?
its a great idea, and its something I've always wanted to do. You've given me some inspiration to do similar. I have an AU2 futura that I want to setup as a sleeper.
Hi there runs duel fuel, but was engineered as only LPG. The petrol is more of a back up it doesnt really get used much. I did fit a vortech 12:1 fuel reg just to be sure it had plenty of fuel.
Yeah I did most of the fit up, but has an LPG man do the correct install of the LPG converter. I also used a welding shop to get the intercooler pipes airtight. They do go well as manuals, but its hrder to keep them on boost. Thanks
Man my mums au n/a goes to 100 in 9 seconds..... just like yours.

that seems extremely slow for 220rwkw...how heavy is that car? 2200kg?

top video mate,
i got an issue with my AU S 6cyl.
its on LPG,
Done 271K...i
t has back fired a few times during start-up
gas is 2 years old or maybe it was inspected 2years ago by previous owner(not to sure). the other day my exhaust got destroyed because of this....
do you have any idea on issues with AU's back firing on start up?
any help would be gratefully appreciated. thanks mate
RAJSTA81 1 year ago
First thing to check will be plugs and leads and then coil packs.
I dont get backfires because I check this stuff.
Mendooranite 1 year ago
yeah, done the plugs and doing the leads ASAP, then i will check the coil............
Cheers for replying mate

Hi Mate, I missed this - check the other vid I have inserted the model of the Landi Renzo convertor.
For info its a Landi Renzo SEC SIC 81 SM+P.
These are bought in from italy and are modified in australia to flow 300hp and are rated for 6 litres on an N/A motor.
Mendooranite 2 years ago
nice vid
just wondering wat u are talking about when u said the trans shift kit is switched on???????
thanks
kuruptJacob 2 years ago
Its an electronic modification that makes the trans run at the maximum line pressure for harder shifts etc...
Mendooranite 2 years ago
ok
and where would u find this mode. and will it affect the life of the box???
kuruptJacob 2 years ago
You need to intercept some wires from the ECU and put a switch on - there would be some guides on line to do it, I didnt fit this one, a mate put it on for me.
Mendooranite 2 years ago
It will extend the life of the box if it is slipping under power.

Yeah I really need to get in back on a dyno to know how far I can take it. Closest Dyno I know of is about 250k's away.

Thanks for posting.

why a taxi?
chubcity1 3 years ago
I already had it. In 2004 it was $3900. At that time it was 10K plus for an AU.
I didnt buy it thinking I would Turbo it - that just happened.

fair enough , well ya got it cheap because of all km's its done being a taxi. how many has it done?

hey Mendooranite , Im Considering putting a Turbo on my car , any Hints or Tips you can give me ..
