I have to say, it was a great performance itself, however, that wasn't salsa. I saw basics, but that's all. Salsa is a lot faster, more turns, more complicated. I belong to an academy I have to say they missed some stuff.

@Carolinah28 I have to say, Mya didn't go to an academy for ballroom/Latin dances...The basics is all she needed to do. Len like to see "BASICS" dance moves. If the dance had basics, then it was Salsa.

As far as not being fast enough....The producers picked the music "NOT" the Celebrities.

Mya's "NOT" a professional/trained dancer in ballroom/Latin dances & Dmitry's the "PRO".The Celebrities has 4 to 5 days to learn these dances. It was complicated enough for her & she did a "FANTASTIC JOB"

How can people say the show is rigged when it's based on audience votes? The best we can do is vote for who we want to win. I will say that the judges are biased, though. They pick their favorite and give them 10s even when they don't always deserve it.

Mukazzi...in its truest form African does mean black, sorry if that upset you sensibilities, however dances such as The Argentine Tango was danced primarily by blacks in bordellos (whore houses) before it became sexy/classy to Europeans & added to Ballroom in the 1940's. Salsa, Samba, Merenge, Mambo, Rumba, Bomba, all different type of dances with African influence. 15million + blacks live in South America and the Caribbean, & for over 400 years latin blacks have influence dance and culture!

Your absolutley right. I loved how Mya had the African influence in her solo. That was the first thing I said to my kids when she was doing it. Anyone that has any knowldge of Latin dance background would agree with you. I sure hope that we are looking and the next winners of DWTS!

That is so true. I don't think many people are aware of that. I noticed the little african dance move in her solo and it put a smile on my face. Mya is good, but I can't leave Dmitry out. Don't bring in "African-influences" into the argument- it's just a buzz word for Black. Fact: Joanna's ballet training worked well in the slow dances, but every judge talked about her 'hesitation' during the fast dances. She couldn't quite "let go". Considering that Donny was dancing to HIS OWN MUSIC (ABC is so transparent), his second dance demonstrated his being able to move his hips independently from his torso-that was good. Mya and Dimitry compliment each other in dedication/determination.

MANY stars had dance experience! Jane Seymour, Melissa Rycroft had ballet experience, which is probably the closest thing to ballroom over "tap and hip-hop"! Even Joanna Krupa had ballet, Joanna just wasn't very good at it, as with her ballroom, that's why Joanna couldn't outdance or outscore Mya when they got to the stretch!
