There's something in this program that reminds me the guys from "The Atheist Experience" receiving calls from fundamentalist Christians. It's kinda sad explaining to people their fantasy world doesn't exist.
@BelgianBrain I'm not so sure about that. I've listened to Stefan a lot and although I agree with a lot of what he says, he doesn't seem to have any practical description of a libertarian, free market system.
Also, funny thing, anytime you disagree with Liberals or "Progressives" on anything, all they can do is accuse you of watching Fox News.
Now, Fox is indeed a horrible news source, but it isn't some horrible source of all misinformation, and the vast majority of them read and watch equally biased news sources like MSNBC, Dailykos or Huffingtonpost. It's just another example of the collectivist "Us against them" doublethink that populist movements tend to breed.
well, I think most of the people who comment on youtube videos are children. Some channels may be exceptions to an extent, but generally speaking youtube is not actually a site for adults.
thank you, someone has finally said it, libertarianism is rainbows, unicorns, and the articles of confederation. ayn rand was obsessed with her taxes paying for "kneeling city buses" so people in wheel chairs could get around town. these people have no concept of societal civics, they believe the free market is some sort of nirvana. they ignore a free market that gave us slavery, child labor, sweat shops, acid rain, and a great lake that could literally catch fire from pollution.
@tomitstube Yes and Ayn Rand, towards the end of her life, needed govt help so she went into the hospital under her husband's name instead of under Ayn Rand.
@bodryn ~ i know right? "keep your government hands off my medicare!" the koch brothers in the 1970's were trying to get austrian friedrick hayek, a hero of lassaiz faire, who said government should provide no social help to it's citizens... to come to america. unfortunately the ill hayek didn't want to leave because of austria's social health care... the kochs told him how he was eligible for social care in america because of his time here... these people are the epitome of hypocrites.
@tomitstube If you knew basic things about Hayek's views, you'd know that he stresses the importance of social cooperation in all his works and wants people to provide help to each other voluntarily, such as through Fraternal Societies and other Mutual-Aid groups that used to exist before Government ended them.
He only opposes State action, as it is both inneficient (due to Government's incentives and calculational problems) and immoral (as Government action is ultimately backed by force).
@tomitstube Slavery would have been too expensive to maintain for a long period of time without the gov't returning ppl's slaves for them. Spain stopped returning slaves to their owners and slavery drastically declined. Child Labor was drastically in decline before any laws were passed, productivity and along with it wealth increased so ppl could afford to have their child educated. Environmental reasons are another reason to abolish gov't, everything in public hands get treated worse.
@ShatterNWO ~ speculative nonsense that ignores the actual facts of actual history. of course, that is exactly what i was saying about libertarianism not being a serious idea. it's strawman philosophy with no real world practicality, especially when libertarians can't even grasp simple history or civics.
Forget about it, Sam. Libertarians aren't interested. I made the mistake of trying to argue with them about Net Neutrality the other day, which they're dead-set against. If google and ISPs want to block pages of competitors or negative articles, or the Koch brothers want to pay more money to have their page show up first in search results, they're all for it. Anything else is "liberal fascism" and if they want the blocked content, they'll pay for another ISP and the free market will fix itself!
Why is this guy so fixated on libertarians? You can as easily refute an argument for NO regulation, as an argument for no referee in a football game. The concept is absurd. That being said, there are many more practical concepts (end illegal wars, end corporatism, restore civil rights, etc.) which they share with progressives and are actionable. We all need to find commonalities to build on.
Ron Paul folks are like 11yr olds & cannot stand up to serious questions...They don't understand why most of Ron Paul's ideas are FAILED ideas that are over 100yrs old!
This whole thing about having absolutely NO government intervention might be an idea from corporatist republicans, who advocate the idea only because they're criminals at heart, but for sound-minded libertarians who are only after fairness, and focus on the individual, "no government intervention" is a blatant straw man.
Libertarianism actually has very little to do with traditional left OR right, which is mostly economic, but neither side can seem to get their head around a political spectrum with more than one axis. I'm sure Sam's for individual liberties over gov't mandates on issues like gay marriage, abortion, porn, and most social issues. Even economically, he's probably for reduction of the prison & military-industrial complexes, our policing the world: all Libertarian values.
So what are libertarians talking about with free markets? Specifically, we want regulation that makes sense, and has consumer protection in mind, not a monopoly or government income in mind. Senseless stuff that makes it harder for small businesses to get going, that are clearly lobbied for by outside influences looking to bastardize the free market, or even provide state income. Look at the law saying people can't collect rain water! Why?To force people to BUY water rights to their property.
@chronDiggity I can't imagine a law saying people can't save rain water. Where would that be? My late uncle used to save rain water to water his garden in the country.
@chronDiggity The rainwater laws are just stupid and fortunately, doesn't exist in Indiana, but unless you put a giant roof over you're entire property, you're not going to collect enough water to compensate for not paying to have water piped into your house. Water and electricity are actually monopolies that make sense. Competition in either would be a mess which is why we've shifted it under strict government control.
The monkeys continue to debate partisan differences. Meanwhile, the people who really own the world continue their agenda with no interference whatsoever from the idiot masses.
@Di0genesus I'd say this is part of the divide and conquer strategy of the super rich, like the Koch brothers, who bankroll the Tea Party so they can get a lot of people ginned up to blame other working or poor people for all the social problems. This all is a dangerous distraction when we have big problems to solve, NOW.
First off, there's no such thing as a 100% free market. That's something people don't seem to understand.
If me and my neighbor decide that he'll wash my car in exchange for me mowing his lawn, surely that is the most free market scenario one can imagine, but even then, there's stipulations, namely if one party doesn't do what's agreed to, an agreement like that will never be made again. That in it's purest form is a regulation on the deal. Do it, or forego future agreements.
@chronDiggity But that's a personal regulation, not a government one. The "free market" implies that no government intervention occurs. That's the definition. 95-99% of all Libertarians believe that the less government intervention there is in society, the better.
Sam, your a fucking tool dude. I subscribe to you, I'm a libertarian, and I find myself VERY often agreeing with you, but this? This is plain bullshit.
I betray you and say this because of your debate topic: "Why we should have NO government intervention in the free market." <~That's a blatant straw man. Anyone calling themselves a libertarian and saying this isn't knowledgeable, just as many liberals aren't knowledgeable. It doesn't speak to the ideology. I can prove my point easily...
@whatisahumans I have seen enough libertarian videos about the fed. Yet they still trust the private sector to police itself. Government is not the problem. The Private sector controlling government is the problem.
Sam, you're right, the EPA sure did put a end to fracking. The FDA sure has made sure our food is not laced with chemicals and pesticides. Should we get into the FTA fast and furious stuff? Sam, your case would be better made if you didn't defend corrupted regulators that are part of the revolving door of fascism.
@atripa645 just because the FDA and EPA are broken doesnt mean we should get rid of them just fix them by taking money out of politics and they arent corupt and by saying you dont want fascism by having no FDA and EPA you are creating more fascism because the top 1% already control 40% of the world it will be more if the corps get to be incontrol of the meds we take and not have to tell us what the side effects are its thanks to the FDA that we HAVE to know the side effects of drugs
@kazooga1234 The standard Libertarian argument is that the function of the FDA shouldn't be eliminated but substituted, to them drug/food regulation should be done through the enforcement of property rights and through private certification companies. Such companies already exist and work very well in several markets - the Underwriters Laboratories regulates the safety or electrical devices, ports & ships are also privately regulated, for example.
@Chaos511 if a private corporation "regulates" the corporations then we mine as well have no EPA and FDA and that is because only THE GOVERNMENT will protect the people of its country and it has been PROVEN THOUGHOUT HISTORY
@kazooga1234 Only it hasn't. Governments have caused more pain and destruction through out history than anything else. The FDA is an inneficient monopoly, bought by corporations, that has many caused deaths with it's delays. There are alternatives that work better.
If ONLY Government can supply this service, then please explain how come the Underwriters Laboratories ensures the safety of electrical devices so well, and how come retailers refuse to sell un-certified electric products?
@Chaos511 THE FDA ISNT A MONOPLY STUPID government run programs cant be monoplys the top 1% are the corporations and they are also the monoplys like the banks and EVERYTHING ELSE THAT IS PRIVATE you are just so freaking stupid you dont understand that the top 1% is the fascism you fear
@kazooga1234 Any sole supplier of a service is a monopoly you moron. The word "monopoly" first derived from Government given monopolies during Mercantilism. The FDA has a monopoly on this service, and due to this it is inneficient. Government programs can be monopolies.
The current top 1% are a creation of Government corporatist policies. You don't understand that the Government you support created the 1% and the monopolies you fear and a genuine free market is the best weapon against them.
that is where you are wrong a dictator can be more then one person it just has to be a group or else you are saying that hitler and his fallowers arent a dictor there will be one person in charge like ron paul after all he is racist and a great person to use for this because he wants to kill people and the FDA DOESNT HAVE A MONOPOLY IT HAS ONE PLACE IN THE GOVERNMENT USED TO PROTECT PEOPLE FROM HAVING SNAKE OIL IN THIER MEDICINE the EPA PROTECTS THE WATERS FROM FLAMING
@kazooga1234 A dictator can be more than one person, what's that got to do with anything? Ron Paul is not a racist, nice falling for that myth. And he's the only politician currently OPPOSED to the wars and killing people.
The FDA is the sole supplier of a service, ergo, monopoly, by definition. And it is known to be inneficient as fuck. Enforcement of property rights and UL-Type certification companies would do MUCH better to protect us from snake oil.
@kazooga1234 Different countries have had different degrees of freedom in different industries. A "free-market" isn't a black and white concept i can point to, there are shades of grey.
I can point to examples of several things, Hong Kong is an example of free trade, UL and other certification companies as an example of private regulation, Japan was an example of high savings + tight monetary policy, Sweden as an example of private roads...
I don't have enough space on 500 chars to elaborate.
@Chaos511 NO COUNTRY HAS A FREE MARKET AND IT NEVER DID BECAUSE IT DOESNT WORK that is why no country that works uses the gold standered either and when you need to leave more then one just do a (continue) at the beginning of the last one you did and if its two then its (continue) (continue) so people know you left more then one AND CHINA IS DOING BETTER THEN AMERICA AND THAT FAULTS EVERYTHING YOU HAVE SAID and JAPAN IS DOING THE BEST OUT OF BOTH AMERICA AND CHINA you are to stupid to know that
@kazooga1234 Your sentes are an incoherent mess that makes no sense.
Different degrees of freedom have worked very well, and i have several examples of that. TOTAL free markets are still untried, so what? Imagine me going back to the 18th century and saying Democracy and free trade wouldn't work.
China does strong monetary manipulation and has a gigantic pool of labor, though it has a property bubble that will eventually bust. Japan was doing well UNTIL it's Govt. began to spend too much.
you are just to stupid to understand them all i was saying is how you leave comment that is more then one comment long
i also was saying that CHINA AND JAPAN ARE DOING BETTER THEN AMERICA and there isnt ONE COUNTRY THAT HAS A FREE MARKET there HAS NEVER BEEN A FREE MARKET
CHINA IS COMMUNIST SO YOU ARE SAYING LETS BE FOR COMMUSISM japan has the same system as america right now except with A FREE HEALTH CARE SYSTEM THAT MORONS LIKE YOU ARE AGAINST
@kazooga1234 China isn't Communist since Deng Xiaoping privatized farms and enterprize in the 70's - and they should be glad he did, before that they were starving. China has massive monetary manipulation and the bubble will bust eventually.
You are pretty ignorant on Japan, ever heard of the "Lost decade"? Japan has great monetary policy, but the high deficits and debt weakened it a lot.
There is no such thing as "Free", everything is paid for. I oppose the current US system too, by the way.
it is communist that is why resently there was a pingpong player that lost it because by law he couldnt have sex until a certain age and after he lost it they realized that was a bad law and i dont know what they did about it they might have lowered the age or something and japans deficite isnt high at all i dont even think it has a deficit and there is such things as free health care in every country but america and its free for people who cant afford it and they make the top 1% pay the most
@kazooga1234 Although i can't say i know about the pingpong player, Communism is an economic system. The law against sex or whatever they may have is a feature of authoritarianism and China sure is authoritarian, but China has dropped the Communist-Economy quite a while ago. It's still a bad place though, and the bubble will bust.
I suggest to you an article "How Government solved the healthcare crisis" by Roderick T. Long. People used to afford healthcare, before Govt. fucked with it.
@Chaos if you dont even know the laws of china then how can you say that its not communist
IT IS COMMUNIST STILL AND IT HAS A BETTER HEALTH CARE SYSTEM THEN US
if we do single payer that means that its done by how much is being made and already 60% of the millionares want to be taxed and that would also help balance the budget as well and democracy says to start taxing the coporations again that would help balance the budget and government health care means we pay into a system that works
@kazooga1234 It is a commonly-known fact that China does not have a Communist economy since Deng Xiaoping privatized farms and opened the stock exchange. This is a well known established fact.
If you think China has good healthcare, you are retarded. One thing is true, the US has bad healthcare, but it has due to severe distortions caused by Corporatist policy by the Government. Read that article i mentioned.
If millionaires want taxes, they are free to donate to the treasury.
@Chaos511 EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT CHINA IS A COMMUNIST COUNTRY STILL its not as bad as it used to be but ITS STILL COMMUNIST THAT IS WHY IT IS MORE REPECTABLE TO HAVE A MALE BABY THERE AS WELL you are so fucking stupid and i bet that you also dont think that corporations are making money after taxes well here is the proof that they are /watch?v=S4aho4FVla8 and as for the donating that is stupid ass shit that WONT BALANCE THE BUGET YOU FUCKING MORON
@kazooga1234 China has a Communist authoritarian political system, but it privatized it's economy long ago, you moron. Deng Xiaoping's reforms. Do you even know what Communism IS? Having male children has nothing to do with Communism or Marxism.
Corporations are making higher profits, true. Government shields them from competition, of course they will make money.
You wanna know how to REALLY balance the budget? *CUT SPENDING*. Raising taxes is just more money for politicians to waste.
@Chaos511 You can have communism and capitalism the communism just puts a cap of the capitalism so there is not as much of it but CHINA IS STILL COMMUNIST AND YOU ARE STILL A MORON WHO DOESNT UNDERSTAND HOW TO BALANCE THE BUDGET and CUTTING SPENDING DOESNT WORK THAT ONLY HURTS THE POOR AND MIDDLE CLASS STUPID
TAXING THE TOP 1 AND 2% IS THE ONLY FUCKING WAY TO BALANCE THE BUDGET AND THATS WHY A LOT OF THEM ARE BEING BEGGED TO BE TAXED
@kazooga1234 And as stated, although a total "free market" has indeed bot existed, different degrees of freedom have worked and have worked very well. The world isn't black and white, but shades or grey, someone arguing politics on the internet should be aware of that.
You wouldn't go back to the 18th century and argue Democracy wouldn't work because it has never existed, would you?
@Chaos511 A FREE MARKET CANT EXIST IT NEVER EXISTED AND IT WILL NEVER EXIST BECAUSE PEOPLE WILL DIE IF IT DOES EXIST BUT YOU ARE TO STUPID TO UNDERSTAND WHY WE HAVE THE THINGS WE HAVE and democracy does work the only problem is WE DONT HAVE A DEMOCRACY RIGHT NOW THATS WHY THE PROTESTERS ARE BEING IGNORED
THAT IS WHAT DEMOCRACY LOOKS LIKE
the top 1% being taxed as well as corporations is WHAT DEMOCRACY LOOKS LIKE NO MONEY IN POLITICS IS WHAT DEMOCRACY LOOKS LIKE not the shit you are saying
@kazooga1234 Do you have any proof free markets can't exist or why people would die with free markets, or do you just have baseless, citation-less buzzwords and claims? I have several examples of degrees of freedom working JUST FINE and theoretical reasons why more freedom would work too.
The "Top 1%" currently pay 40% of the Federal Income Tax, with the bottom 50% not paying it at all. We also have one of the highest Corporate taxes in the developed world. We HAVE they being taxed.
@Chaos511 YES BECAUSE NOBODY HAS A FREE MARKET BECAUSE IF THEY FUCKING WORKED THEN WE WOULD HAVE THEM BUT YOUR STUPID MINICULE BRAIN CANT COMPREHEND THAT and the top 1% isnt paying that at all and corporations are making more money after taxes what you are talking about thats paying THE 35% ARE THE PEOPLE WHO DONT WORK AT GOLDMAN SACHS those people who work there get MORE MONEY FROM THE BUSH TAX CUTS but you are to stupid to do research into that as well
@kazooga1234 I could say "WELL IF "TRUE DEMOCRACY" AND TAXING THE RICH WORKED WE WOULD HAVE THAT!". I don't, because this thinking is obviously fallacious. Governments and Politically connected Corporations - like Goldman Sachs - don't like free-markets and prefer to be shielded from competition, THAT is why we don't have a free market.
It is well known that the top 1% pays 40% of income tax, you can google that and even check it in official statistics. The only "too stupid to research" is you.
@Chaos511 IT DOES WORK BILL CLINTON PROVED THAT YOU FUCKING MORON GO LOOK AT THE LAST TIME THE RICH WERE EVEN BEING TAXED AND WHEN WE HAD A BALANCED BUDGET IT WAS UNDER CLITON even ronald reagan found out YOU HAVE TO TAX THE RICH SO HE DID THAT 5 TIMES WHNE HE WAS IN OFFICE and WHEN PEOPLE SAY THE ECONMY WAS GREAT IN THE 60s 97% of taxes on the top 1% so you are the moron that doesnt understand that the max the top bracket is paying right now is only 800 dollars and thats if they have income tax
@kazooga1234 During Clinton's days Government spent WAY less than what it does today, and also Clinton's team took more money from the SS fund than what it was supposed to.
Reagan commited a huge mistake, he increased spending when he should have lowered it.
You know, taxes aren't the only indicator of why economies are well. The biggest cause of our problems right now is the fucked up monetary policy, in the 60's we still had a gold standard!
@Chaos511 WHAT YOU HAVE JUST SAID IS 100% LIE HE GOT MONEY INTO THE ENTITLEMENT PROGRAMS HE MADE IT SO WITHOUT ADDING ANY MORE MONEY TO THEM THEY WONT RUN OUT UNTIL 2048 but you are to stupid to know that fact because you oviously watch FOX "news" and the 1% doesnt pay anything in taxes they make more money after taxes just like the corporations but again idiot you doesnt understand how the bush tax cuts work
@kazooga1234 I don't watch Fox News. I don't watch any television at all, in fact. As for you, i bet you read the Huffingtonpost or gets news from some equally biased source of "news".
Jesus fucking christ, just google "1% 40% income tax". It's a well known thing that the top 1% already pay plenty of tax.
And i don't even support those 1%, i don't even know why i'm arguing this. They could all go bankrupt for all i care, they got where they are through political privilege.
@Chaos511 1 Huffington post isnt bias well it does sometimes have a repubican bais but for the most part it states facts I USE SOMETHING CALLED GOOGLE TYT SAM SEDER AND DAVID PAKMAN those all just state facts and i can also use google to prove those facts WELL I HAVE PROOF BY JOHN GREEN PLAYING FIFA THAT WHAT YOU ARE SAYING IS BULL SHIT HERE IS HIS LINK /watch?v=MNdb8mTSsN8 you are wrong and stupid and the top 1% need to be taxed even republicans are saying so now like warren buffet
@kazooga1234 H-Post is just as biased as Fox News, don't fool yourself.
Sam, from what i've seen here, is just a man who screams arguments that have already been repeated and answered ad nauseam
>A guy speaking about taxes on Fifa
>A more credible source than statistics by the IRS
Take your anecdotal evidence out of here.
I am not a Republican, and don't care for them. Even if we do need more taxes, the thing we need THE MOST right now is a gigantic all around spending cut.
FACTS ARENT BIAS YOU MORON all huffinton post does is post facts when there is something important to say and when something is liberal they tend to hide it in the news paper WHAT FOX
"NEWS" DOES IS LIE and use propaganda JOHN GREEN ISNT JUST SOME GUY AND I HAVE THE LINKS FROM GOOGLE SAVED SAYING EXACTLY WHAT HE WAS THERE if you want them i have them and they explain why its not 35% they are paying it just says that on the IRS website because of how taxes are done but you cant understand that
@Chaos511 (continue) i know exactly what facism is its when the 1% own over 50% of the world right now they only own 40% and hopefully they wont be incontrol of any more then that ever and fascism means for 1 type of person like the extremely rich control everything and you can even look up that defintion
@kazooga1234 "Fascism" is a ultra-nationalist and authoritarian political view that has a Corporatist (e.g, merger of State and private power) economic view. It tends to support economic planning by the State and centralized decision making, the exact opposite of free markets. Wealth concentration is a feature of it but isn't "It".
The current wealth concentration is bad indeed, i'll agree. But it is the direct result of Government corporatist policy. We don't have a free market.
@kazooga1234 I guess that you don't know who the REAL 1% - the politicians and the politically-connected corporations - are, and how they have distorted the economy and political discussion in their favor.
I also guess you have very little understanding of economics, political philosophy and grammar.
@Chaos511 i know who the top 1% are they they are coporations and the jerks who leave tweets about how people should have to shovel snow for a few bucks you never answered my questions
what part of the world has a free market
and when did america ever have a free market
and when i am on youtube i dont care if i end a sentance with is especailly when i am talking to a moron who thinks there is even such thing as a free market
@atripa645 Describing that stuff and calling it fascism (which is what it is), is making the case to put an end to corporate interference in the world - not government interference.
But I do agree with most of Ron Paul positions But I also belive in clean drinking water, that no family should have to sell their house and go bankrupt if their child gets sick, and I belive that the Banks have been a casino and destroyed middle America for profit to the very few at the top, their actions have been treasonous "destroy the country for personal profit", that to me is treason.
@kgdies So, you think States should not be bound to the Bill of Rights? Seriously? You think we should go back to the Gold Standard? Ron Paul catches people's emotions with his foreign policy ideas & most can't see beyond that. Ron Paul's RHETORIC about individual freedoms is pure BS because he is only referring to the Federal government NOT States! PLUS, Ron Paul is a science denialist who openly says scientist don't know the true age of the Earth & other extremely IGNORANT ideas!
@Viracocha711 If Ron Paul spent a little time traveling and visiting in northern Canada, he'd have all the evidence he needed to realize climate change is indeed occurring.
@bodryn RIGHT! But I guarantee he would still deny it because folks who think the world is less than 10,000yrs old like Ron Paul does also think GAWD created the Earth for humans & would never allow anything bad to happen to it! YES, I am 100% serious & this is why America has not progressed any faster than it has we have NUTS slowing things down!
@Viracocha711 It looks like America has ground almost to a halt, due to GOP refusing to cooperate whatsoever. Record numbers of filibusters. I understand that if the GOP can get a majority in the senate, they will complete the job of destroying Obama's health care program.
Maybe, but why should I be told by the Left Right or the Independents what to believe what to think, is it not better to vote for someone that most closely matches your own belifes, even if you don't agree with all their positions?
@kgdies Ron Paul is a scam. The republican primary is rigged by the rich. They have already picked Rick Perry. The point of Ron Paul is to make people go vote for a dead end candidaite rather than vote in democratic primaries of the legislative branch. That way more blue dog corporate controlled democrats like Rep Hoyer or Sen Landerieu will get elected rather than the true progressives like Alan Grayson or Sen Merkley of OR. I read voting records so I know where they stand.
@captcrais101 I think the powers that be have made a deal to put Obama in for another term. I can't help but think that the GOP is sabotaging itself. But then again maybe they really are this crazy and stupid but I doubt it.
@captcrais101 ron paul is the most consistent politician in government, and has been for over 20 years... disagree with his politics all you want, but he has been the only one who has consistently voted how he said he would, on everything. And this is coming from a registered democrat.
@challiray believing that wallstreet can police itself is not populist. You are a liberal that believes in populism. ACT LIKE IT!! Obama may not be a populist but neither is Ron. Vote for Pell Grants. Vote for social security. Vote for medicare. Don't vote for Ron Paul
@indiereplicant I am not voting for Obama. I am voting third party for president. I know Obama is just as bad as the republicans but I also know that it is stupid to vote for republicans when they are all sold out.
@AmericanWayne I have read the 14 characteristics of a fascist gov't according to Prof louis Brit. Empowering nationalism or patriotism, saying you are anti-american if you don't agree with a war for instance. Supremacy of the military, which means that the gov't will spend more on defense than any other expense, which includes domestic. Suppress labor. Corporate power is portected which is the center of fascism.
@AmericanWayne Scapegoating is another characteristic of fasicsm. Torture and no regard for civil liberties.Disdain for intectuals. Disdain for the arts. Obession with security or homeland security as the Nazis first called it. Oh wait we are using that word now. Unlimited power to law enforcement. Justifing poltical decisions with religion is another which is concides with Sinclair lewis saying Fasicism will come to america with a flag in bible in one hand and wrapped in the american flag.
Free Talk Live have invited this guy on to debate. Let's see if he has the bottle to live up to his mouth.

"keep your government hands off my medicare!" the koch brothers in the 1970's were trying to get austrian friedrick hayek, a hero of lassaiz faire, who said government should provide no social help to it's citizens... to come to america. unfortunately the ill hayek didn't want to leave because of austria's social health care... the kochs told him how he was eligible for social care in america because of his time here... these people are the epitome of hypocrites.
tomitstube 3 months ago
@tomitstube If you knew basic things about Hayek's views, you'd know that he stresses the importance of social cooperation in all his works and wants people to provide help to each other voluntarily, such as through Fraternal Societies and other Mutual-Aid groups that used to exist before Government ended them.
He only opposes State action, as it is both inneficient (due to Government's incentives and calculational problems) and immoral (as Government action is ultimately backed by force).
Chaos511 3 months ago
@tomitstube Slavery would have been too expensive to maintain for a long period of time without the gov't returning ppl's slaves for them. Spain stopped returning slaves to their owners and slavery drastically declined. Child Labor was drastically in decline before any laws were passed, productivity and along with it wealth increased so ppl could afford to have their child educated. Environmental reasons are another reason to abolish gov't, everything in public hands get treated worse.

@ShatterNWO ~ speculative nonsense that ignores the actual facts of actual history. of course, that is exactly what i was saying about libertarianism not being a serious idea. it's strawman philosophy with no real world practicality, especially when libertarians can't even grasp simple history or civics.
ever heard of the american civil war?

@ShatterNWO What was nonsense? Don't you guys want a real debate?
ShatterNWO 3 months ago

We all need to find commonalities to build on.

bodryn 3 months ago
This whole thing about having absolutely NO government intervention might be an idea from corporatist republicans, who advocate the idea only because they're criminals at heart, but for sound-minded libertarians who are only after fairness, and focus on the individual, "no government intervention" is a blatant straw man.
chronDiggity 3 months ago
Libertarianism actually has very little to do with traditional left OR right, which is mostly economic, but neither side can seem to get their head around a political spectrum with more than one axis. I'm sure Sam's for individual liberties over gov't mandates on issues like gay marriage, abortion, porn, and most social issues. Even economically, he's probably for reduction of the prison & military-industrial complexes, our policing the world: all Libertarian values.
andid 3 months ago
So what are libertarians talking about with free markets? Specifically, we want regulation that makes sense, and has consumer protection in mind, not a monopoly or government income in mind. Senseless stuff that makes it harder for small businesses to get going, that are clearly lobbied for by outside influences looking to bastardize the free market, or even provide state income. Look at the law saying people can't collect rain water! Why?To force people to BUY water rights to their property.
chronDiggity 3 months ago
@chronDiggity I can't imagine a law saying people can't save rain water. Where would that be? My late uncle used to save rain water to water his garden in the country.
bodryn 3 months ago
@bodryn
Google it. A few different states have this now. All for the government to treat us as income sources for the state.
chronDiggity 3 months ago
@chronDiggity So I have to wonder - do these states allow people to let rain fall on their garden for watering?
bodryn 3 months ago
@chronDiggity The rainwater laws are just stupid and fortunately, doesn't exist in Indiana, but unless you put a giant roof over you're entire property, you're not going to collect enough water to compensate for not paying to have water piped into your house. Water and electricity are actually monopolies that make sense. Competition in either would be a mess which is why we've shifted it under strict government control.

The monkeys continue to debate partisan differences. Meanwhile, the people who really own the world continue their agenda with no interference whatsoever from the idiot masses.
Di0genesus 3 months ago
@Di0genesus I'd say this is part of the divide and conquer strategy of the super rich, like the Koch brothers, who bankroll the Tea Party so they can get a lot of people ginned up to blame other working or poor people for all the social problems. This all is a dangerous distraction when we have big problems to solve, NOW.
bodryn 3 months ago
First off, there's no such thing as a 100% free market. That's something people don't seem to understand.
If me and my neighbor decide that he'll wash my car in exchange for me mowing his lawn, surely that is the most free market scenario one can imagine, but even then, there's stipulations, namely if one party doesn't do what's agreed to, an agreement like that will never be made again. That in it's purest form is a regulation on the deal. Do it, or forego future agreements.
chronDiggity 3 months ago
@chronDiggity But that's a personal regulation, not a government one. The "free market" implies that no government intervention occurs. That's the definition. 95-99% of all Libertarians believe that the less government intervention there is in society, the better.
DisturbedHavok 3 months ago
Sam, your a fucking tool dude. I subscribe to you, I'm a libertarian, and I find myself VERY often agreeing with you, but this? This is plain bullshit.
I betray you and say this because of your debate topic: "Why we should have NO government intervention in the free market." <~That's a blatant straw man. Anyone calling themselves a libertarian and saying this isn't knowledgeable, just as many liberals aren't knowledgeable. It doesn't speak to the ideology. I can prove my point easily...

Sam, you're right, the EPA sure did put a end to fracking. The FDA sure has made sure our food is not laced with chemicals and pesticides. Should we get into the FTA fast and furious stuff? Sam, your case would be better made if you didn't defend corrupted regulators that are part of the revolving door of fascism.
atripa645 3 months ago
@atripa645 just because the FDA and EPA are broken doesnt mean we should get rid of them just fix them by taking money out of politics and they arent corupt and by saying you dont want fascism by having no FDA and EPA you are creating more fascism because the top 1% already control 40% of the world it will be more if the corps get to be incontrol of the meds we take and not have to tell us what the side effects are its thanks to the FDA that we HAVE to know the side effects of drugs
kazooga1234 3 months ago 18
@kazooga1234 The standard Libertarian argument is that the function of the FDA shouldn't be eliminated but substituted, to them drug/food regulation should be done through the enforcement of property rights and through private certification companies. Such companies already exist and work very well in several markets - the Underwriters Laboratories regulates the safety or electrical devices, ports & ships are also privately regulated, for example.
Also i don't think you know what "Fascism" is.
Chaos511 3 months ago
@Chaos511 if a private corporation "regulates" the corporations then we mine as well have no EPA and FDA and that is because only THE GOVERNMENT will protect the people of its country and it has been PROVEN THOUGHOUT HISTORY
kazooga1234 3 months ago
@kazooga1234 Only it hasn't. Governments have caused more pain and destruction through out history than anything else. The FDA is an inneficient monopoly, bought by corporations, that has many caused deaths with it's delays. There are alternatives that work better.
If ONLY Government can supply this service, then please explain how come the Underwriters Laboratories ensures the safety of electrical devices so well, and how come retailers refuse to sell un-certified electric products?
Chaos511 3 months ago
@Chaos511 THE FDA ISNT A MONOPLY STUPID government run programs cant be monoplys the top 1% are the corporations and they are also the monoplys like the banks and EVERYTHING ELSE THAT IS PRIVATE you are just so freaking stupid you dont understand that the top 1% is the fascism you fear
kazooga1234 3 months ago
@kazooga1234 Any sole supplier of a service is a monopoly you moron. The word "monopoly" first derived from Government given monopolies during Mercantilism. The FDA has a monopoly on this service, and due to this it is inneficient. Government programs can be monopolies.
The current top 1% are a creation of Government corporatist policies. You don't understand that the Government you support created the 1% and the monopolies you fear and a genuine free market is the best weapon against them.
Chaos511 3 months ago
that is where you are wrong a dictator can be more then one person it just has to be a group or else you are saying that hitler and his fallowers arent a dictor there will be one person in charge like ron paul after all he is racist and a great person to use for this because he wants to kill people and the FDA DOESNT HAVE A MONOPOLY IT HAS ONE PLACE IN THE GOVERNMENT USED TO PROTECT PEOPLE FROM HAVING SNAKE OIL IN THIER MEDICINE the EPA PROTECTS THE WATERS FROM FLAMING
corps arent paying taxes
kazooga1234 3 months ago
@kazooga1234 A dictator can be more than one person, what's that got to do with anything? Ron Paul is not a racist, nice falling for that myth. And he's the only politician currently OPPOSED to the wars and killing people.
The FDA is the sole supplier of a service, ergo, monopoly, by definition. And it is known to be inneficient as fuck. Enforcement of property rights and UL-Type certification companies would do MUCH better to protect us from snake oil.
Corps currently pay most taxes.

@Chaos511 (continue)
i ask you this what part of the world has a free market
and when did america ever have a free market
kazooga1234 3 months ago
@kazooga1234 Different countries have had different degrees of freedom in different industries. A "free-market" isn't a black and white concept i can point to, there are shades of grey.
I can point to examples of several things, Hong Kong is an example of free trade, UL and other certification companies as an example of private regulation, Japan was an example of high savings + tight monetary policy, Sweden as an example of private roads...
I don't have enough space on 500 chars to elaborate.
Chaos511 3 months ago
@Chaos511 NO COUNTRY HAS A FREE MARKET AND IT NEVER DID BECAUSE IT DOESNT WORK that is why no country that works uses the gold standered either and when you need to leave more then one just do a (continue) at the beginning of the last one you did and if its two then its (continue) (continue) so people know you left more then one AND CHINA IS DOING BETTER THEN AMERICA AND THAT FAULTS EVERYTHING YOU HAVE SAID and JAPAN IS DOING THE BEST OUT OF BOTH AMERICA AND CHINA you are to stupid to know that
kazooga1234 3 months ago
@kazooga1234 Your sentes are an incoherent mess that makes no sense.
Different degrees of freedom have worked very well, and i have several examples of that. TOTAL free markets are still untried, so what? Imagine me going back to the 18th century and saying Democracy and free trade wouldn't work.
China does strong monetary manipulation and has a gigantic pool of labor, though it has a property bubble that will eventually bust. Japan was doing well UNTIL it's Govt. began to spend too much.

kazooga1234 3 months ago
@kazooga1234 China isn't Communist since Deng Xiaoping privatized farms and enterprize in the 70's - and they should be glad he did, before that they were starving. China has massive monetary manipulation and the bubble will bust eventually.
You are pretty ignorant on Japan, ever heard of the "Lost decade"? Japan has great monetary policy, but the high deficits and debt weakened it a lot.
There is no such thing as "Free", everything is paid for. I oppose the current US system too, by the way.
Chaos511 3 months ago
it is communist that is why resently there was a pingpong player that lost it because by law he couldnt have sex until a certain age and after he lost it they realized that was a bad law and i dont know what they did about it they might have lowered the age or something and japans deficite isnt high at all i dont even think it has a deficit and there is such things as free health care in every country but america and its free for people who cant afford it and they make the top 1% pay the most
kazooga1234 3 months ago
@kazooga1234 Although i can't say i know about the pingpong player, Communism is an economic system. The law against sex or whatever they may have is a feature of authoritarianism and China sure is authoritarian, but China has dropped the Communist-Economy quite a while ago. It's still a bad place though, and the bubble will bust.
I suggest to you an article "How Government solved the healthcare crisis" by Roderick T. Long. People used to afford healthcare, before Govt. fucked with it.
Chaos511 3 months ago
@Chaos if you dont even know the laws of china then how can you say that its not communist
IT IS COMMUNIST STILL AND IT HAS A BETTER HEALTH CARE SYSTEM THEN US
if we do single payer that means that its done by how much is being made and already 60% of the millionares want to be taxed and that would also help balance the budget as well and democracy says to start taxing the coporations again that would help balance the budget and government health care means we pay into a system that works
kazooga1234 3 months ago
@kazooga1234 It is a commonly-known fact that China does not have a Communist economy since Deng Xiaoping privatized farms and opened the stock exchange. This is a well known established fact.
If you think China has good healthcare, you are retarded. One thing is true, the US has bad healthcare, but it has due to severe distortions caused by Corporatist policy by the Government. Read that article i mentioned.
If millionaires want taxes, they are free to donate to the treasury.

Chaos511 3 months ago

@Chaos511 You can have communism and capitalism the communism just puts a cap of the capitalism so there is not as much of it but CHINA IS STILL COMMUNIST AND YOU ARE STILL A MORON WHO DOESNT UNDERSTAND HOW TO BALANCE THE BUDGET and CUTTING SPENDING DOESNT WORK THAT ONLY HURTS THE POOR AND MIDDLE CLASS STUPID
TAXING THE TOP 1 AND 2% IS THE ONLY FUCKING WAY TO BALANCE THE BUDGET AND THATS WHY A LOT OF THEM ARE BEING BEGGED TO BE TAXED
kazooga1234 3 months ago
@kazooga1234 And as stated, although a total "free market" has indeed bot existed, different degrees of freedom have worked and have worked very well. The world isn't black and white, but shades or grey, someone arguing politics on the internet should be aware of that.
You wouldn't go back to the 18th century and argue Democracy wouldn't work because it has never existed, would you?
Chaos511 3 months ago
@Chaos511 A FREE MARKET CANT EXIST IT NEVER EXISTED AND IT WILL NEVER EXIST BECAUSE PEOPLE WILL DIE IF IT DOES EXIST BUT YOU ARE TO STUPID TO UNDERSTAND WHY WE HAVE THE THINGS WE HAVE and democracy does work the only problem is WE DONT HAVE A DEMOCRACY RIGHT NOW THATS WHY THE PROTESTERS ARE BEING IGNORED
THAT IS WHAT DEMOCRACY LOOKS LIKE
the top 1% being taxed as well as corporations is WHAT DEMOCRACY LOOKS LIKE NO MONEY IN POLITICS IS WHAT DEMOCRACY LOOKS LIKE not the shit you are saying
kazooga1234 3 months ago
@kazooga1234 Do you have any proof free markets can't exist or why people would die with free markets, or do you just have baseless, citation-less buzzwords and claims? I have several examples of degrees of freedom working JUST FINE and theoretical reasons why more freedom would work too.
The "Top 1%" currently pay 40% of the Federal Income Tax, with the bottom 50% not paying it at all. We also have one of the highest Corporate taxes in the developed world. We HAVE they being taxed.
Chaos511 3 months ago
@Chaos511 YES BECAUSE NOBODY HAS A FREE MARKET BECAUSE IF THEY FUCKING WORKED THEN WE WOULD HAVE THEM BUT YOUR STUPID MINICULE BRAIN CANT COMPREHEND THAT and the top 1% isnt paying that at all and corporations are making more money after taxes what you are talking about thats paying THE 35% ARE THE PEOPLE WHO DONT WORK AT GOLDMAN SACHS those people who work there get MORE MONEY FROM THE BUSH TAX CUTS but you are to stupid to do research into that as well
kazooga1234 3 months ago
@kazooga1234 I could say "WELL IF "TRUE DEMOCRACY" AND TAXING THE RICH WORKED WE WOULD HAVE THAT!". I don't, because this thinking is obviously fallacious. Governments and Politically connected Corporations - like Goldman Sachs - don't like free-markets and prefer to be shielded from competition, THAT is why we don't have a free market.
It is well known that the top 1% pays 40% of income tax, you can google that and even check it in official statistics. The only "too stupid to research" is you.
Chaos511 3 months ago
@Chaos511 IT DOES WORK BILL CLINTON PROVED THAT YOU FUCKING MORON GO LOOK AT THE LAST TIME THE RICH WERE EVEN BEING TAXED AND WHEN WE HAD A BALANCED BUDGET IT WAS UNDER CLITON even ronald reagan found out YOU HAVE TO TAX THE RICH SO HE DID THAT 5 TIMES WHNE HE WAS IN OFFICE and WHEN PEOPLE SAY THE ECONMY WAS GREAT IN THE 60s 97% of taxes on the top 1% so you are the moron that doesnt understand that the max the top bracket is paying right now is only 800 dollars and thats if they have income tax
kazooga1234 3 months ago
@kazooga1234 During Clinton's days Government spent WAY less than what it does today, and also Clinton's team took more money from the SS fund than what it was supposed to.
Reagan commited a huge mistake, he increased spending when he should have lowered it.
You know, taxes aren't the only indicator of why economies are well. The biggest cause of our problems right now is the fucked up monetary policy, in the 60's we still had a gold standard!
The 1% STILL pays 40% of the income tax.
