  • If ya uncertain and dont wanna take a chance on the agp slots..you can get a standard PCI slot vid card..problem solved

  • Its mostly in the vid cards slot laylout..the slots determine the agp slot voltage that the can do..if its got 2 slots cut out then it should support 1.5v and 3.3v but not always

  • @TheDman216 Yeah, your right about that. I did another video shortly after this video on identifying the slot type, because I felt like I did miss this information form the video, so thank you for your input.

Thanks for your comment and feed back.

    Nice One ; )

  • @viperfrank Thur my years of builds there are some universal slots too that arent slotted..those are the boards to watch out for people..because theres no dividers most ppl think the slot supports 1.5 and 3.3 but always chk the motherboard makers website for teh test report(almost always in the manual PDF) to make sure the motherboard been tested for the voltage or the card ya using.Love ya vids man,Subscribed!!

  • anti static wrist band? They're no fucking good. I installed a 6200 to get rid of my onboard graphics...and I never used an anti static wrist band. furthermore, the 6200 is a good card for older systems if your thinking of getting it. Trust this guy when he says you will damage the card and/or motherboard.

  • Like Inserting a Geforce 5200 Ultra or MX 440 for AGP 8X into a Asus A7V (An early Athlon Socket A mainboard with AGP Pro 4x). The system might run fine. You may need to cut 2 traces of the Card's AGP connector, or just carefully put some tape onto the pins.

I know about this because i fixed alot of PC AGP cards to be fitted into a Pre-G5 Mac. You can actually force AGP 8X Cards to run as AGP 4X. No damage will be done. But ofcourse the card must fit. It needs two slits in the connector.

  • I'm not sure how this is supposed to prove anything. You didn't show what mainboard model or what graphics cards you exactly used. You didn't change the mainboard to prove that the graphics cards ain't broken. I've done hundreds of repairs and Graphics cards changes and the only thing i observed was the following:

If you put in "certain" AGP 8X Cards into mainboards with no AGP 8X slot, the system might refuse to boot, or even worse, turn on while the graphics card is being inserted.

  • I didn't get if you showed how to identify if we have and AGP standard or AGP 8

  • thank you have help me allot i was a lil confused about agp s agp 4x agp 8x

  • @jigilowman No problem, I'm glad the video was of some use.

Thanks for your comment and feedback.

    nice one!!!

  • how do i know what slot type i have? all i know is that its a 8-10 year old pc

  • @MrOne3ye I did another video explaining this, here's the link:

    /watch?v=JWW67dstwsA

    hope this helped.

    thanks for your comment.

    nice one!!!

  • @viperfrank yeah i found the vid 1 minute after i typed the comment :-D i have a AGP classic and my motherboard is a peace of shit.. it totally burned wen i turned the pc on lol

now its dead.. it went to a better life T_T

  • AGP 8x will only work in a 4x or 8x slot nothing older so no 2x or 1x compatibility

  • I want to get a better CPU will that mean I need to change my motherbord also?

  • @BladeStrikes hi, thanks for your comment. that depends on what motherboard you have, what make/model is it?

generally speaking if your motherboard is more than a few years old than you will probably have to get a new one.

but sometimes if its a well known make and a popular choice than most company stock back catalogued cpus for those boards.

  • @viperfrank its not just the socket type that decides the compatibility of the cpu to a motherboard its other thing as well (Front side bus, any extended level cache, if its supports HTL or not) on top of that the board has to fully support the cpus architecture or it will not work to its full potential.

a lot to consider but you can buy a bundle (a CPU, memory and motherboard on one bundle) its probably the same price a a CPU these days. check Amazon.

    thanks for your comment.

    nice one!!!

  • i have a sony vaio pcv-rz22g and i was wondering if i can use this graphics card on my model (Visiontek 900284 Radeon HD 3650 Video Card - 1GB DDR2, AGP, CrossFireX Ready, DVI, S-Video, VGA)

  • hey, i have a acer E661FXM AGP version 3.0 8x 4 CPU 3.06 GHZ. What kind of graphics can it support?

  • I have a Asus P4p800s-x mb iwth a P4 2.4ghz cpu and its specs say 8x agp but my searches on Google says it can't support a 3.3v agp card? I currently have a VisiionTek 1550 (I think its a 1.1version has a small fan) I wanted to replace it with a HD 3850 agp but not sure of the voltage....

  • @red25ty Hi there, I have the data sheet for your mother board and on there it says your AGP slot is 1.5 volt only so the HD 3850 should work fine, generally any motherboard/ graphics card made after year 2000 are 1.5v slots.

hope this helped and thanks for your comment.

    nice one!!!

  • Im a noob..and i asked around and showed some of my friends this video and most people are saying that u dont have a strong enough psu and that u can run agp 4/8 in a regular agp slot it will just underclock it

  • ty i have learn something.if you can spare some old agp ps pls send me one

  • i have an AGPX8.

  • Im guessing you have the drivers installed?

  • Duh. AGP 3.0 uses only 1.5 to 0.8 V and if you shove a 3.3 V AGP 1.0 card there, it's going to blow up anyhow because of the exceeding voltage.

  • 6200 sucksss

  • who the hell uses agp anymore? that went out like 10 years ago xD

  • @darkstar3x16 I do, and many companies still make agp slot cards, one such company is PNY, also BFG etc.

  • you are a dickhead you have to go in to the systems BIOS and set AGP4X OR AGP8X your AGP4X CARD WAS IN 8X SYSTEM SETUP

  • oh by the way, is the geforce 6200 an ok card?

and if on the box of a card it says ddr, does that mean it's ddr1?

  • @Killerinx yeah

  • thanks you really helped me :D now i'll know :)

  • I picked up an AGP card at a yard sale the other day...put it into my old pc and it works fine. I didn't know what would happen but this computer is maybe 9-10 years old so it wasn't a big deal.

  • hi i have dell gx260 tower it has 4x agp slot in it and there are not much agp cards left these days. what do you suggest to get the best card for my pc

  • oookkaaaay and heres the question how i can know what x slot i have?

  • Thanks for the information, that explains some of the mysterious problems I was having with the old AVG cards. Very good video, very helpful.

  • Thanks For Yur Video Andd hi there i reallly need help i have a ms6714 motherboard and i am not sure if i can buy a pci card please helpppp

    i have a agp slot

but i wanted to know if i can connect a graphics card to a pci slot

    thanks plus i suscribed :)

  • thanks for the video!

I'm pretty sure of what I want to upgrade to(SAPPHIRE ATI Radeon HD 4650 1Gb DDR2 AGP X8), since I can't build a newer PC for about a year.

Do you think this combo will work fine for modern games like COD6/GRiD/Fallout3 etc on medium to low graphics settings? And does it matter if the video ram is DDR2 and my Motherboard ram is DDR SDRAM?

    ASUS K8V-X Motherboard

    AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 2.00Ghz rated at 3.6Ghz

    1.5Gb RAM

    Windows XP Pro SP3

    Any advice is greatly appreciated!

  • Hahaha, awesome windows xp sp1.

(the sp1 is the only one to show the "professional" logo, at the boot.

  • I have a Dell Precision 650 motherboard which has a AGP Pro slot. I have bought a XFX Ati Radeon HD 4650 (AGP X8). I have had it for about for 2 weeks and is working perfectly. Do you think I will encounter issues in the future.

  • My AGP slot can do 8X Anti Analising. Does that mean its 8x AGP?

  • @Louie92801 hi there, probably not its going to be to do with the anti-aliasing filter. if you go to my other video on this subject i show how to look on your computer and see what slot you have, check that video out and that should give you all the information you need, hope this helped and thanks for your comment.

    nice one!!!

  • Ok I have a Video Card called the ATI Radeon X600 Video card. Is that AGP or PCI Express?

  • @Louie92801 hi there, thanks for your comment, the radeon X600, that card was made after the radeon 9600 thats going to be a PCI-e , if you want to know for sure check out the other video i did on this, i show you how to look it up on your computer, because even if it is PCI-e it could be 4 8 or 16 lane PCI-e although it wont damage if you use the wrong one it will run slower, there is loads more info on this in the other video, hope this helped and thanks again for your comment

    nice one!!!

  • goood video men...youu help me alot...tanks..:)

  • May i have your processor case and mother bord maybe the fan whit it =P

  • fuck i didnt know this and now i bought an agp 8 online

  • Hi. I have one old pc which bought in 2002. The Motherboard is P4VMM2. Its AGP is 4x type.

I dont want to buy desktop anymore, so I decided to buy one AGP 4x card from ebay.

Please tell me the following AGP card is right for my motherboard or not.

PINE TECHNOLOGY SIS 315E 32MB DDR AGP PV-S04A-LR GRAPHICS CARD

    2. And, my IE8 is always lag when open 2-3 tabs. Is it because of no display card added?

    Thanks!

  • Well that helped me. I thought I could add an 8X to a 4X port but I guess not. I actually have a crappy Powercolor Radeon 9250 I'm thinking of upgrading. I have an AMD Athlon XP 2800+ @ 2.12GHz

I was thinking of throwing in an HD Radeon 3850 but heard my CPU would bottleneck it. I would have upgraded this card a long time ago but, I don't know what card is a good combo for my system.

Got any ideas? Oh and about buying a new pc, I won't since mine still works fine, y buy new if it still works?

  • Ive got a TUL Radeo 9600SE in my old pc :)

its AGP 4X, since thats the max the motherboard supports. also 400Mhz FSB limit, though I have a 533Mhz FSB processor LOL.

    Pentium 4 northwood 2.66. now underclocked to 2Ghz :(

  • I want to know if AGP video card have a 1gb ?? And how much is it ??

  • hi there, there are a couple around, one is the Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4650, thats 1 GB and i think its GDDR 3, that about £80 so about $125 US. i don't think you are going to get much better specs than that for AGP 8x.

how much was you looking to pay, there might be some cheaper ones.

hope this was helpful and thanks for your comment.

    nice one!!!

  • there is also the HIS HD 4670 AGP thants GDDR 3 nad its around the same price...

    nice one!!!

  • @viperfrank how do u know if u have agp or agp 8x

  • video cards on agp 8x run slower on agp 2x and 4x but it works :P

  • hi there, yeah your right the card will work if you put a slower bus speed in a higher bus speed slot and the other way round, that's not the problem, it's whan you put the wrong voltage card in the wrong slot, that's when you get problems. there's another video on my channel that exsplains this.

    nice one :)

  • an agp 8x card works normally in agp slot when u install a driver , u didnt install the driver , that's why the buttons were big and graphics was messed up

  • i did a couple of take of that bit because the phone rang half way through and the first time did it i had the ethernet cable plugged in and it installed the driver from the internet so the second time round the driver was already installed.

but saying that, after i uploaded the video i did have that thought in the back of my mind. but no there was a driver installed.

    nice one : )

  • thanx nice one, i actually tried many times nvidia 5500 fs agp 8x card in agp 2x slot whic ran on slot 1 celeron 333mhz and sdram 256 runing at 133mhz no problems driver all good video games like gta san adreas ran no problem ! no capacitors were blown ! but do get screen corruptions since i fucked with the gpu !

  • if i have a geforce FX5600 can i so shift to a ASUS AH3450/DI/512MD

  • it both has the same sluts lol

  • dude thank you so much but ive got a question can you tell you port type without having to open up ur pc and if so can you tell me but thanks a lot every thing is much clearer 2 me now 5star

  • dude install the drivers =))

  • i did a couple of take of that bit because the phone rang half way through and the first time did it i had the ethernet cable plugged in and it installed the driver from the internet so the second time round the driver was already installed.

but saying that, after i uploaded the video i did have that thought in the back of my mind. but no there was a driver installed.

    nice one : )

  • Hey thanks for the advice, i am in that exact situation, at least i didnt blow up my new agpx8 graphics card in my old agp slot..humm wish i looked at this b4 i bought a new graphics card though x

  • pci-e 2.1 is here,..

    why bother with agps?

  • ffs dont you know why? because millions in the world still have agp slots, not all of them have pcie like us.

  • not millions... if your a gamer this is out of the page...

    cmon man,,...

you can build 500 bucks worth of basic gaming pc..

or else you dont know the benifits of

    pci-es?

  • ai got AGPx8

so.. what graphic should i buy?

    for extreme gaming graphic!

    pls! answer me!

  • the nvidia geforce 7800gs/gts

  • umm i am looking fore something to record my ps3's screen . what should i be looking four?

  • While I was searching a bunch of forums reading about how people are looking for a good gaming APG graphics card, multiple people said things like "Remember that 8x is backwards compatible with 4x" Of course now I'm confused because doesn't that contradict what your saying? Who is right?

  • "its smoking and everything" *touches it* "ahh sshhhhit thats hot"

  • i must admit that was a bit stupid, to be honest i wasn't expecting it to be that hot it was the cap that popped not the GPU but there you go that's me for ya. lol.

  • Well, thanks for the heads up on the agp cards. I now see the difference, but it's still hard for me to tell them apart. V.V

  • hi there, if you still want info than there's a new video on my channel called "how to tell the difference between AGP and AGP x1, x2, x4 and x8" that should make it easy to tell what slot type you have.

hope this helped and thanks for the comment.

    nice one!!!

  • i have some question plssssssssssssssssssssssssssss answer me plsssssssssssssssssssssssssss can change a AGP slot???????????

  • what, the whole slot? of just the card

    Card: yeah sure

slot: no f**king way, but a new motherboard

    hope this helped:)

  • hi there sorry for taking ages to reply. changing the slot its self is not possible unfortunately if you want a different slot you will have to buy a different mother board, you can change the card in the slot yes but not the slot its self, if you want any more info on what type of slot you have there's a new video on my channel showing you how to do that.

sorry i could not be of any more help.

    nice one!!!

  • the two motherboards don't look the same, the ide port is red in one and blue in another and there is only a cmos battery in one of them =P

  • HA HA, well spotted, i though someone would notice, i should have painted them both black LOL.

    nice one!!!

  • Please could i pm you a link, to a slot in my computer so you can tell me what kind of slot it is please

  • hi there, sorry for taking so long to reply iv had loads of emails to reply to.

sure you can, if you look on my channel in the description there is an email address if you want to it might be easier to email the pic to me you can thats not a problem.

however if you want to know what type of AGP port you have there's a new video on my channel showing you how to tell the difference between them but feel free so send the pic regardless if you want.

    hope this helped.

    nice one!!!

  • cn u plz tell me how to check if your motherboard has agp or agp x8 answer me plz i will be buying acard and i need to know which one to buy..

  • copy and past this if you think kawaiifreak860 should go and suck cock some more and give up trying to insult people and in the process just making himself look like a complete dickhead!!

  • oh btw Im merly stating this cuz I put a newer AGP card in a old AGP 4x slot once and it worked fine.

though the damn thing did die on me but it wasnt cuz of that I had forgotten to plug it into a proper surge protector during a storm. D':

  • "I had forgotten to plug it into a proper surge protector during a storm. D': "

    Well that says it all.

Douchebag. This dude knows his stuff, and sometimes can't make it clear what he says, but he explains things that makes people understand it easily.

Btw before you start flaming people learn to spell right you gouch

  • Whatever you say human-fag.

  • shut up you cock head, he said in the video he installed the drivers what are you fucking dumb...

im not a computer genius never are you by the sounds of it but even for me its pretty self explanatory higher number don't go in lower number slots you wouldn't put a 110 volt plug in a 240 volt socket would you, well you probably would and as for your second dumb ass comment at the end of the video he actually says you can put a x8 in an x4 so that's why it worked fine.

    fucking dick head!!

  • before you post bs comments do your research odiously your method of research is retarded you cant even get proper info from a videos. and if your gonna slate people that are just trying to help other people that at least do it for a video that you actually understand obviously you don't understand this one.

  • OI CHILL THE FUCK OUT what the fuck is your problem?

theirs no need for all the hostility is there?

as for your comment if you watched the video you will know that i did install drivers and if it needed drivers how come it worked fines in the right slot it was the same mother board just a different slot and as for your other comment, you can use an x8 card in an x4 slot.

seriously though chill out i don't mind answering and replying to comments but don't start getting shitty with me...

  • Hey viper can u tell me a good AGP CARD not 8x not 4x beacuse i just bought a good AGP8x card and it got screwed

  • nice video mate, can i have ur ur motherboard and 6200?...no harm in asking :P

  • how can u see the difference between agp, agp x4 and agp x8

  • how can u see difference between agp and pci express

  • hi there thanks for your comment, if you place the mother board/PC so the back (the bit with all the sockets) is facing your left now going from the left on a PCI-E slot there should be 11 pins before the separating key an AGP 1.5 volt slot (the most common one) there should be 41 pins before the separating key and on an AGP 3.3 volt slot (the older one) there should be 21pins before the separating key, only count pins on one side of the slot, hope this info was helpful.

    thanks

    nice one!

  • hi Nomy, well unfortunately theirs no easy way of telling the bus speed of a slot but the most important thing is to know the slots voltage that is what could damage the card/mother board, so you need to know the difference, if you put the PC so the back of it is facing your left now going from the left there should be 41 pins before the spacer key for a 1.5 volt slot and 21 pins before the spacer key for a 3.3 volt slot, hope this info was helpful, thanks for your comment.

    nice one!!!

  • cool vid thx for the info

  • Helpful, yeah. Thanks. Pity you can't tell which card and which slot is which unless you got the manuals or info online.

  • im not sure why youtube has put the video in HD, that wasn't intentional the camera is a hd camcorder but this video was not encoded as

    HD... ah well.

  • KEEP THE VIDS COMEING MATE GRATE STUFF
