this is what i hate in Skyrim. I think the better you were at Smithing, the harder it should be to level up. For example: u should be forced to smith better items instead the easier ones. D: i also think it could have more types of armors. Daedric, Dwelven, Dragon, Orcish, Ebony, that's too few.
@kyrous10 lol theres more armours, there iron, iron banded, leather, studded, elvan, dragon scale/dragon bone, steal, steal plate, glass, and i think thers 1 or 2 more i just forget
I did a similar thing but basically just bought only the iron ore and leather (not leather strips) cause it's a lot cheaper. Got to smithing 100 at about level 30 without to much stress or gold loss.
Also a good way to make level up while making money is to get dwemer metal (struts, plate (of metal not like plates for eating they are useless), solid, and bent scrap) from the dwarven ruins, then smelt it to dwarven ingots and mix them with some iron to make a bow.
lol im not going to have a problem with enchanting my stuff once ive gotten lvl 100 smithing because ive got hundreds of soul gems of every type excluding black soul gems in like 10 kettles in my breezehome house
and to boost enchanting quickly as well, you can just go enchant all those daggers you just made. you get so much gold if you have disenchanted something with the "Banish" enchantment.
you should enchant them too, then you actually make profit! And train your enchanting of course. (drain health is the enchantment the makes the most profit)
@Alphanumaric His race probably has a racial bonus in smithing. Also, he might have enchanted items, potions, or spells that improve his smithing while equipped. :)
Dragon is better than Daedric. Although Daedric has the higher base armour, Dragon plate has a slightly higher value once both armours are upgraded to legendary. The Daedric gauntlets and boots still out to their Dragon counterparts, the extra armour rating provided by the armour segment, shield, and helmet give the Dragon armour a slight edge over Daedric armor.
@bluecat68 The best is Dragon armor, fully improved to Legendary condition. If you aren't going to improve it (because it was a drop, and you can't improve it that much) then Daedric is slightly better.
@Shaqueta7 So far i havent seen any detail about Dragon vs Daedric in Legendary mode in the same condition (without enchantment) and seen Dragon just slightly better than Daedric in Legendary then i think i prefer to save some perk to just go for Daedric . Good day ~
@SuperCorey95 According to the Elder Scrolls wiki every 10 skill levels you increase, it will level your character up so you can level 10 skills one point each and level up or 1 skill 10 times or any way you'd like in between.
@ofdeathbydarklord so mine iron ores, and buy them, too. it didn't cost me that much, but i had mined like 140 iron ores from just derping around a lot.
@F1ght4Lifee 1-80*, I got it in around 3k gold. I got to 100 in about 8k gold. I never enchanted the daggers, just sold them directly back in their normal state. I suggest doing all the Dark Brotherhood quest until you kill the Emperor for a 20k gold reward c:
There are better, and cheaper ways, but also requires a bit of skill. Your right in crafting iron daggers to start with, but once you can craft dwarven, raiding dwarven ruins is an awesome way to raise smithing at very low cost. In addition, make good use of the grindstone. A sharpened weapon sells for far more then an unsharpened one, even more so at higher smithing levels.
Something you should add is getting a bunch of petty (or better) soul gems and enchanting the daggers first so get max gold out of them and level up your enchanting.
I don't think they will patch this because later on once you get past around lvl 60 smithing the rate it increases dramatically slows down and it takes like 7 or 8 daggers to lvl up.
@NormalFayde Theres no real trick to gold, just have a high speech, pick up what you can in dungeons, prioritize items depending of their weight/value and sell to vendors in the correct orders : weapon/armor vendors / mage vendor / potion vendor / your wife / general vendor
@NotCasuals if you want to acquire a lot of gold do all of the Dark Brotherhood quests and at the end you get 20,000 gold plus all of the gold from the contracts
@captamerica26 I dont think money is a problem in this game , I in lvl43 now with gold 62k without cheating . Just make sure to spend time to explore the world and harvest & mine & kill the animal that attack you and bring a follower to carry all the items that you can find and then go back for alchemy + enchant + smith then sell for tons of gold .
@captamerica26 By the way i dont even start all of the Dark Brotherhood quests yet to get my 62k gold , the key is that whether player willing to spend time to walk instead of fast travel . Even if the objective is too far away i just fast travel to somewhere nearer then start walking . There are many benefits to do so actually .
@NormalFayde i just finished the dark brotherhood got 20k wasted 10k on 100 smithing then did the house gltich to get free house and once you get shadowmere from the dark brotherhood put game on master and beat your horse then you can get 100 one-handed sword 100 2h sword 100 archery
best way to farm some gold is to enchant as many of the daggers you just made as possible the best as you can! or you can do the same with rings and enchant those 2rings/ ingot because rings seem to gain alot more in value than daggers
You can scroll the iron dagger up (thanks to the terrible UI) and just use your mousebutton. When you click it selects the dagger and you click again and it selects yes.
When playing a Thief type character. Do you recommend going the path of light armor smithing when you rank up to make better light armors or going the path of heavy armors to get weapons like the daedric dagger. Or should I waste points on the entire smithing skill tree.
@williamwzl That choice is really up to you, but the best weapons are Daedric and the Best light armor is Dragon so, its a personal choice, do what you think is worth it :)
Personally , Id probably get both sides of the tree since perks in this game are fairly easy to gain.
@williamwzl As a Thief you will join the Thieves Guild and get their armor. Get the Arcane Blacksmith so you can improve it and you wont need anything else for a while. Go up the Heavy armor path for the weapons and that will lead you through Daedric(for the daggers) and Dragon for the weapons and best light Armor. Hope that helps.
Don't sell the daggers! Buy all the filled gems from traders, then enchant the daggers and sell them back to the trader/blacksmith. Once you have a good enchant (like health vamp) the enchanted daggers will sell fro 200-400 golds instead of the base 10. This is gonna level your enchanting + make tons of money.
I tend to find making leather bracers to be a cheaper alternative. Leather is typically cheaper than iron and you can harvest them from critters you kill. The ingredients are a leather piece and 2 leather strips.
I would not focus on developing a non-combat (or combat magic) skill until you have mastered one that will help you defeat enemies.
The difficulty of your opponents is based on your level. Raise your level and they become more difficult. This system works when your combat skills are progressing at a normal pace.
Advance a bunch of support skills prior to advancing combat skills.. and drastically increase your level.. and you will likely have a more difficult time fighting.
@coynedogg Although its true that the monsters scales to a certain extent, the bonus you will get from using better armor and better weapons, upgraded to a much higher lvl, will benefits you 10x more then the scaling effects.
This will benefits you more then anything else in the game.
Like most leveling exploits in Elder Scrolls games, however, by pumping up your smithing like crazy you'll end up crippling yourself in combat. Enemies scale to your level to some degree (not as bad as in Oblivion at least), so if you gain five or ten levels from smithing without increasing any of your combat skills to boot, you'll eventually find yourself struggling to fight. So use with caution.
@SteveGarbage Although its true that the monsters scales to a certain extent, the bonus you will get from using better armor and better weapons, upgraded to a much higher lvl, will benefits you 10x more then the scaling effects.
Instead of Iron Daggers is waaay better in terms of cost and time consumed to craft Hide Bracers. ¿Why? Because iton lingots/ore are sold on small quantity on the weaponsmith, but they sell a shitload of leather, and most important, pelts of various animals.
Each pelt gives you 1 to 4 leather pieces, and each leather piece gives you 4 leather strips.
You only need 1 leather + 2 strips per Hide Bracers piece, so you can reach lvl 100 smithing way quickly and cheaper than with iron daggers :)
You can hit 'y' for yes, much better then clicking yes. Also, you can buy the pre filled petty soul gems, enchant the dagger, and sell it for a profit (The value of the enchanted dagger sell price is higher then the combined material buy price)
if you are a mage, you can do something like that as well. using the spell Muffle over and over again will rapidly increase your level on Illusion spells, works like a charm haha
by the way, u can make loads of money from this aswell, iron daggers alone sell for like 3 gold, but if u enchant them first then they can sell for a few hundred.
if ur gunna do this though i suggest getting the soul trap spell, or perk, i cant remember what it is -.-, u get heaps though :D
@coolbeans559 Yeah i noticed that but it depends on the enchancement you use Soul Trap is the worst one to add, I seen the Wikia site mention Banish enchantment or the Health sapping one.
there is an easier way to get iron ingots. Go to riverwood where the blacksmith is and under his workbench there should be stacks of iron and steel ingots that you can take, not steal. :D
I did something similar where I hoarded tons and tons of smithing supplies in my whiterun house. Then i grabbed them all (weight was 1200 or so) and smithed from 53 to 100 in 1 go.
and if you want to lvl up enchantement then do this in adition: get soul gems. (aLOT OF EM). go to an enchantement altar. enchant the dagger with magica damage. repeat until out of gems/daggers.
@Blueyesensei18 Yo, it does bro. I had my smithing at 31 so I bought 320 iron ingots and 320 leather strips (I had about 333 or something) and after half an hour of spamming, I got it up to 93. All you need is 10-15K gold and you're all good (:
@X4Cer The benefits of wearing better weapons and armors and being able to upgrade them even more will be much easier then if you decided to lvl something else then smithing.
IMO Leather Bracers are a cheaper version to increase smithing. It requires 1 leather and 2 strips to craft. 1 leather equals 4 strips. So it costs 1.5 leather per bracer. Please leave your opinion.
@SoulBladeM And leather is easier and more interesting to gather then wait-buying iron ore/ingots. A 15-minute trip west from Whiterun and back yields about 50 leather - those deer are everywhere.
if you go with your mouse over the iron dagger and than click yes, you can spam this, just double click the yes button you need no e on your keyboard ;)
As an Archer do I want to get Dragon Armor or Daedric Armor? Are there more than 1 type of Archer playstyle that could allow either of these armors to be useful? What would you recommend?
wow its amazing how ugly the console version is compared to this one (PC). its sad that both it shows how outdated the current consoles are and that my pc is to crappy to handle awesomeness
It's worth noting that if you do a cheap absorb health enchant(using petty souls) you can increase the value of the daggers up to 400-500; usually sells to the blacksmith chick in whiterun for ~200 it makes you good profit and levels your enchanting at the same time. Selling each dagger individually also helps boost your speech.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@NotCasuals I wouldn't call it the best. The map is about as big as Oblivion's without water with mountains taking up the same space as water did in Oblivion, making for annoying and hard-to-traverse terrain, the dungeons are repetitive, save for a few that actually do not consist of fighting your way through copy-pasted corridors and killing a boss in a big room for a reward and the game's charm runs out after 30-50 hours of play, after that it seems like a grind. It's good, but hardly the best
@SilentShadowLT I am unsure what brought this argument up, this video is a tutorial of smithing and in no way shape or form I give my opinion of the game.

Don't do this, i don't get it.
Just go hunting for leather: you'll train sneak, archery.
then use the half of your leather -> leather strips.
And then smith leather bracers (:
Takes Max.250 Arrows for Smithing Lv.100
Don't waste 10K gold for Iron daggers
PS: don't sell the bracers when finished, use them to train enchantments, i used them till Lv.70

@JackSeaNine I am going to try this when I get home from work. If this works, Will you marry me?

Instead of Iron Daggers is waaay better in terms of cost and time consumed to craft Hide Bracers. ¿Why? Because iton lingots/ore are sold on small quantity on the weaponsmith, but they sell a shitload of leather, and most important, pelts of various animals.
Each pelt gives you 1 to 4 leather pieces, and each leather piece gives you 4 leather strips.
You only need 1 leather + 2 strips per Hide Bracers piece, so you can reach lvl 100 smithing way quickly and cheaper than with iron daggers :)
GryphusLionheart 3 months ago
You can hit 'y' for yes, much better then clicking yes. Also, you can buy the pre filled petty soul gems, enchant the dagger, and sell it for a profit (The value of the enchanted dagger sell price is higher then the combined material buy price)

M4T1N249 3 months ago
if you are a mage, you can do something like that as well. using the spell Muffle over and over again will rapidly increase your level on Illusion spells, works like a charm haha
Vin3160 3 months ago
by the way, u can make loads of money from this aswell, iron daggers alone sell for like 3 gold, but if u enchant them first then they can sell for a few hundred.
if ur gunna do this though i suggest getting the soul trap spell, or perk, i cant remember what it is -.-, u get heaps though :D
coolbeans559 3 months ago
@coolbeans559 Yeah i noticed that but it depends on the enchancement you use Soul Trap is the worst one to add, I seen the Wikia site mention Banish enchantment or the Health sapping one.
Blueyesensei18 3 months ago
there is an easier way to get iron ingots. Go to riverwood where the blacksmith is and under his workbench there should be stacks of iron and steel ingots that you can take, not steal. :D
usernameruss 3 months ago
I did something similar where I hoarded tons and tons of smithing supplies in my whiterun house. Then i grabbed them all (weight was 1200 or so) and smithed from 53 to 100 in 1 go.

koolaidshittznet 3 months ago
@koolaidshittznet When you lvl up press Tab and assign you lvl ups to Magicka points.
NotCasuals 3 months ago
and if you want to lvl up enchantement then do this in adition: get soul gems. (aLOT OF EM). go to an enchantement altar. enchant the dagger with magica damage. repeat until out of gems/daggers.
you should now have a higher enchantement skill.

@Blueyesensei18 Yo, it does bro. I had my smithing at 31 so I bought 320 iron ingots and 320 leather strips (I had about 333 or something) and after half an hour of spamming, I got it up to 93. All you need is 10-15K gold and you're all good (:

Yeah great idea... if you can deal with monsters that have leveled along with you. Too bad you can't kill em with your smithing skills. :/
X4Cer 3 months ago
@X4Cer The benefits of wearing better weapons and armors and being able to upgrade them even more will be much easier then if you decided to lvl something else then smithing.

@X4Cer except that the monsters level off of your combat skills and not your level...

IMO Leather Bracers are a cheaper version to increase smithing. It requires 1 leather and 2 strips to craft. 1 leather equals 4 strips. So it costs 1.5 leather per bracer. Please leave your opinion.
SoulBladeM 3 months ago in playlist More videos from NotCasuals
@SoulBladeM And leather is easier and more interesting to gather then wait-buying iron ore/ingots. A 15-minute trip west from Whiterun and back yields about 50 leather - those deer are everywhere.

As an Archer do I want to get Dragon Armor or Daedric Armor? Are there more than 1 type of Archer playstyle that could allow either of these armors to be useful? What would you recommend?

@nolyspe Leather and iron is easy to get.... for free. :o And to buy also.
IchigoKurosaki011 3 months ago
It's worth noting that if you do a cheap absorb health enchant(using petty souls) you can increase the value of the daggers up to 400-500; usually sells to the blacksmith chick in whiterun for ~200 it makes you good profit and levels your enchanting at the same time. Selling each dagger individually also helps boost your speech.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
@NotCasuals I wouldn't call it the best.
SilentShadowLT 3 months ago
@SilentShadowLT I am unsure what brought this argument up, this video is a tutorial of smithing and in no way shape or form I give my opinion of the game.
