  • I think you missed half the sodom and gamorah story. After abraham searched, Not one righteous person was found in all of sodom and gamorah. The Intended point of the story is that the christian god DOES see reason and whats more, was willing to prove to his subjects that he did.

  • I skipped that part of the story, and i probably shouldn't have. I suppose i see that portion as affirmation that the god of that story doesn't really love everyone he created; that he couldn't see good in a single person in those cities is a testament to the fact that he doesn't understand his own people. Good to hear from you by the way; i miss your insight, p dot.

  • Remember, Bush's first term for his war on a noun was "Crusade" - & most Central/South American death-squads were/are whole-heartedly Christian Fundamentalist. Abortion Clinics don't have metal-detectors & bomb-sniffing dogs just for fun. Falwell blamed 911 on American unbelievers. Robertson advocated murder.

    "God is love" - NOT.

  • What a fascinating conversation thread you had going! Re: Islam - I tried to read the Quran. I was put off by one phrase repeated throughout. "Show no mercy."

  • I'll admit, the qu'ran is MUCH harder to read than the bible, especially for a non believer, and just about every verse begins and ends with 'surely god is great' or something to that effect. I have to continuously remind myself that it's meant to be a song and it's in another langauge, but there is still wisdom to be found in it, and whether or not it's a fun read, if we fear what we don't understand, we must understand to defeat our fears.

  • One part of the bible story you left out was that the angels went out to find just one good person in Sodom & Gamora and did not, then destroyed the cities. It is just a story anyway.

  • you need a new brain

  • Jesus was the Che Guevara of the Jews is really that simple . Alah is Fidel Castro . Moses was Bridge Engineer but fail to save the few Jews in New Orleans. Well he also fail in 1942 it was a bunch of uncircumcise russians that saved the Jews not Moses.

  • haretz2, a former YT ally and subscriber showed me this several months ago. We 'parted' on uglyish terms because he thinks islam is pure evil, and i won't accept that. Islam is about peace and reverence toward god, and no matter how many muslims pervert those ideals; the enemy is intollerence whether it be muslims, zionists, atheists, racists, ect ect ect, no one group of humans can be the personification of all human wickedness.

  • Some bible quotes, most of which are pretty damn famous, followed by ominous music and pictures of muslim leaders then a cliff-notes version of the passion of the christ (which i've never seen for the same reason i don't watch usama bin laden's movies: i don't like religious propoganda) i'm not converted, nice try though....

  • Obviously, a zionist and a humanist read such radically different versions of the same story that it's impossible for us to agree on the history, and since neither of us were there, we have to trust that the books and documentaries we've digested on the subject consist mostly of fact. Indisputable are the MASSIVE number of human rights violations committed by the state of israel over the past forty years, and that the US has blocked numerous resolutions to halt these crimes.

  • How can YOU call ME full of hate when your original premise is that anyone who follows islam is wicked by nature, and my contention is only that the jewish people should be willing to treat the palestinian people with human dignity. Full circle IS a bitch.

  • War IS hell, but how can you not see the paralell? A group of brown skinned people minding their own business when a group of white skinned people settled on their land. At first they were peaceful, then they were screwed heavily on land deals, became suspicious, then outraged, and when there was a murmer of uprising, the colonists took up their superior weapons, crushed the natives, and stuck them on sub-standard reservations. Sounds pretty goddamn similar to me.

  • Saying the palestinians had no country is like saying the native americans had no country; it's true in that it wasn't recognised by the world powers, but there were people living there who had been there for generations. Perhaps the israelis never wrote a formal declaration of war, but they DID show up with tanks and soldiers and kick the palestinians out, so, call it what you like, but i think it's wrong to kick people out of their homes

  • Yes, it was a UN resolution, (introduced and spearheaded by the US), and, yes, there were palestinian jews at the time, but, there wasn't a 'religious war' going on, so apparently, both jew and muslim were behaving in a civilised manner.

  • Why should it be the responsibility of palestine to take in european holocaust survivors? The palestinians had no part in the nazi attrocities, and no alliance with anyone involved. The six day war had little to do with religion; it was an act of european colonialism, and the palestinians, they NEVER organised against the jews, of any nationality, until the jews declared war on them, and took their land. Like i said before, this isn't about religion to me, this is about humanism.

  • Also, you said that the palestinan deaths couldn't outnumber israeli by a factor of ten because there 'were never more than 5 million', exactly what do you mean? Are you attempting to include the holocaust deaths in the israeli/palestinian casualty figures?!?!?

  • Islam isn't peaceful or warlike as christianity isn't; they're both religions, and both have been responsible for more deaths than could possibly be counted. I hate the zionist regime because it has done great injustice. It's not about muslims and jews, it's about PEOPLE. After WW2, the US offered a homeland to the jews, not a homeland that it owned, but one in the middle east that was already populated by several million people.

  • The jews happily took this land, and the muslims, if begrudgingly, allowed them to set up homes and purchase real estate. Slowly, the military and monetary strength of the zionists grew to a point that they didn't 'need' to tollerate the muslims anymore and they, quite simply, kicked them out of their own country, and said "god gave us this land."

  • Over the past 40 years that israel has existed, the palestinians have died in numbers exceeding ten times that of the israelis, and still the israelis come, shelling neighbourhoods in gaza almost weekly. I know that fundamentalist islam has no respect for my beliefs, but i will fight until there isn't a breath in my body for an end to their oppression; not because they would do the same for me, but becasue i will not accept people being treated like insects.

  • I haven't read enough of the dead sea scrolls to compose a competant reaction. It's true that a singular revealation which ends all previous and subesequent revealation is not only a hard pill to swallow, it's impossible. Nevertheless, i feel that islam has a lot to teach me and the world. I will NOT accept that the forming of the state of israel was the will of god. Millions of people have died, and that stinks not of the will of god but of the will of man.

  • The old testament is practically impossible to verify the source of. Many scholars believe the stories to be passed down almost entirely through oral tradition, and a number of the laws to be perversions of hammurabi's code, so the source of divine inspiration for the hebrew texts is vastly varied from direct conversations with god himself to subtle messages through weather, animals, and the like.

  • The new testament is written in greek, and is the writings of paul who was, essentially, an old testament scholar, so he can't be looked to as a source of anything but interpretation of the hebrew texts (written down hundreds of years after the supposed events)

  • The gospels, the oldest of which is mark, dated to about 40 years after the death of christ, so, given the life-expectancy of the day, it's practically impossible that it was written by the man himself. The subsequent gospels are often thought to be re-tellings of the stories in mark, but, suffice to say, the apostles themselves couldn't have been involved in the writing; plus, they were mostly fishermen and peasants who would have been illiterate.

  • As for the whole 'blessings and peace' thing; i have a love/hate relationship with religious traditions. I'm an agnostic, but i cross myself when i hear of someone's death, say 'blessings and peace' when i refer to the prophet, quote buddhist parables, and read tarot. These traditions may not be literally true, but they do represent thousands of years of intellectual insights of the human race, and for that reason, i find them fascinating.

  • As for the divine inspiration of the qu'ran, it's much easier to track than that of the bible. The prophet (blessings and peace) claims to have been taken by gabriel to hear the words of his forebearing prophets (jesus christ among them), and, miraculously, this singular dream is the source for a two thousand, or so, page document. It's much easier to 'take it or leave it' with islam. I choose to leave it, and, apparently, so do you.

  • The teachings of islam are, for the most part, consistent with those of christianity though the rules are MUCH more clearly defined as the qu'ran was scribed by the profit (blessings and peace) and his followers where the bible was compiled from any number of oral and written traditions in multiple langauges. I would never claim to be an expert, but i have spent a good deal of time in the study of theology in one of the most complete multi-religous libraries in the country if not the world

  • But, returning to the actual point. In what way is jesus NOT a human sacrifice? A sacrifice is the killing of an organism or the destruction of a precious object to appease the anger of a god. You could contend that jesus, said to be god himself, was not an organism, but that's missing the point. God willed the killing of this man to ease his disgust with the human race, so, i reiterate, how is this NOT a sacrifice to an angry god?

  • Islam is a later interpretation of the christian teachings with a tapestry of arabic mythology thrown in and a few original revealations; therefore, if islam is evil, christianity is as well. As for the human sacrifice comment; the killing of the only innocent character in the bible, jesus christ, is supposed to make up for every wicked deed ever committed in the history and future of mankind

  • (continued) furthermore, if we refuse to accept this bloody debacle as the only source of truth and salvation, god, in his infinite mercy, will have us tortured for all eternity. How can you accept human sacrifice as justice?

  • Human sacrifice, how very christian of you...

  • Awesome.

  • wasn't Azriel Gargamels cat? and what does he have to do with the Palestinians??? wtf?

  • ....Are you REALLY trying to reduce my words to a mid 80 cartoon about blue skinned mushroom-chomping cheavanists!?!?!?

  • No,I was just joking around..the way you said Israel reminded me of the Smurfs cartoon. no offense meant.

  • I was mostly confused rather than offended. No harm no foul. In case you haven't noticed, i've been in quite the comment war this morning, so i've been quick to pounce on people, sorry you got caught up in that.

  • Seems like the same tactic Repubs and Dems use to make sure nothing ever changes. Pretend to make a show of bipartisanship knowing that there is a "poison pill" in the agreement so that the other side can make a rationale for not agreeing to it so they can argue that it is not their fault they can't reach an agreement.

  • Your videos are very thought provoking. Thank you.

  • Good middle ground, where I like to stay, with a good ending too! faved and featured.

  • Fuck the zionist regime.

  • Y hallo thar.

Why not make a video about ENDA?

  • I'm a bit annoyed with the ENDA. I started composing a long comment, and i now realise that i have enough to say for a vlog. Thanks for the tip.

  • Yer welcome.

Sucks an ass, especially with all the transphobic gay folks saying "push it through anyway"

    Oy.

  • Yeah...i thought, of all people, barney frank might be on my side of things...apparently not.

  • I wouldn't be surprised if the removal of trans language was actually at the urging of teh gay politicians in the first place.

  • And queer lobbyists other then Barney Frank, having just realized he was a fruit >___>

  • The contention is that gay people are more politically acceptable than trans people, and that the motion will be shot down if the trans langauge is included, but can be 'salvaged' if they give gays their rights now and come back for trannies in ten years. As usual, i'm much more interested in human rights than political implications, and i feel like rights should be an all or nothing proposition, but doubly so since i happen to be among the humans waiting for rights in this instance.
