That's a difficult involved lyric to sing and play both at same time.

Is it hard to drop the Scottish accent and go into this, or does it just happen?

When you're singing songs that you are very familiar with and that weren't sung with a scots accent originally you tend to lose it unless you force yourself to keep it. In fact generally when singing you lose most of your accent for an RP or american basis unless you're singing something very specifically written for your accent.
