an old actress by the mercedes mc camridge did the deep demonic voice. there were so many voices. one was obviously the younger priest's mother's voice; the old italian woman that died. father karras felt deep guilt for having let his mother die in a ward of a charity hospital. the demon kept talking to him in his deceased mother's voice to torture him. that's one of the reason's he was convinced the possession was real. regan spoke italian in his mother's voice, which sent him over the edge.

Technically speaking she's been typecast for Regan Macneil. She did a great job with her though. She had some help with Mercedes McCambridge doing the voice of Pazuzu and Eileen Dietz portrayed the Captain Howdy face and did alot of the possesed Regan scenes but wasn't credited very much for it. Oh but that's not to say Linda isn't a gorgeous woman and a splendid actress. Just giving credit to everyone. But no one but her could play Regan that well.
