No, I just want the male and female to get along.... I don't really want the eggs, but I am thinking of breeding them and selling the fry. I have guppies, but I don't feed the fry to the fish I just give them to my fish shop
i usto have 3 male and 3 female (the ones in the video's) living together in a 40 gallon with guppies, platies and neons.. they all live peacefully... (and i usto have them fight w.each other), but once i threw them all together in a big tank.. only one male and one female would dominant the tank..
they'll flare up to each other and blush and thats all. no more fighting..
I have a male crown tail betta. Hes white. At my local fish shop... I saw a white female with pinky fins. Should I buy her ? I wish to breed them. But if the have eggs, can I just feed them to my fish ?
baby betas dies really fast if you dont keep their tank clean and if you clean them too much they die easily as well.. and if you dont have the right sorce of food... they die... but you can always restart... good luck and hope to hear from you when your betas are spawning..
also you can tell if she ready is she has vertical lines (that goes up and down) near her gills and or on her sides... usually a grayish color or somthing.... but it all depends... oh yeah... after mating and everything.. baby hatches... you can also have them mate after 3-4 weeks... so its no biggie... my crown tail.. i mated him about 4 weeks ago i believe and that is him up there.. he now have another bunch of baby frys 2 days old now..
but if you have them in separate tanks and if he still chases her then you should move her out... usually when they are ready.. they flare up to each other and the female isnt scared of the male.. she's more intrested in his bubbles and flare up with him... she'll want to come close to him and touch his body as well... are you sure you have a female instead of a short tale male..? females have a white bump underneath them.. and if she's ready.. she'll be big..
oh i forgot to say... after they have spawn... within 2 days the frys do hatch and they will eat off of their yoke and then 2 days later of hatching they should be swimmnig free and then you should feed them baby brime shrimp.. frozen but they prefer live and also microworms if you can find any.. live ones... :) let me know how did you do... thanks.... also.... i have baby betas today as well.. they are all going up and down like usuall.. the daddy is taking great care of them..
Thanks for your help robert. What do oyu mean by if he still chases her you should start over. what do you mean by start over? as in i have to condition them again or just put a divider in the tank?
hi kent. well.. if he still chases her like he wants to kill her... then you should take her back out... usually... i have a 29 gallon.. i only put 1 1/2 inches of water or 2 at the most.. and i have this other bottle glass.. its like 2-3 inches wide.. i put the female in the same tank but separate her by putt the open glass bottle (both ends so she can breath and be fed and be kept safe)
How come when i put my male and female together to spawn. They chase each other? is this natural? How long should i leave it in there before i take them out if they dont breed?
usually the male would have his nest of bubbles.. and when you put the female in.. when he's ready... he'll flare up to her (not chasing her) but luring on to her to his nest and she would follow and checks out the nest.. if he doesnt have enought bubbles.. she wont be intreted in him and make sure your female in ready to mate.. if he still chaes her then they are not ready... but still have them see each other.. next day you should try agin.. it should work...
and also... he will squeeze her until she has no more eggs.. it can last half a day so keep an eye out for them... and when she has no more eggs... he will chase her from his nest and she will swim away... but if she comes near thenest then he will keep on chasing her... he'll pick up the white eggs and put them back on in the bubbles.. he'll do that until they hatch..
and when they hatch... they will fall many times..he will still pick them up and blow them out..you do not have to feed them for at least 2 days...and when they start to swim.. most of them...you will have to take out the daddy cuz he might just snack on them... and there you go..you have baby beta..also.. you already know to take out the mom after they have spawn... :) good luck...hope you take good care of them..do some research before you let them spawn.. find out what the frys eat...
