  • Yes I'm a kid from the 60's and this music is part of my grass roots upbringing...simplicity and peace at its finest....remember??

  • CROOKLYN

    love the song

  • One of the greatest and most underrated producing-songwriting teams; Thom Bell and the late Linda Creed are responsible for nearly all the great Stylistics hits. Thom Bell is also largely responsible for the success of the Spinners and the Delphonics.

  • Thank you so much for posting this song. I have even been looking in the record stores for this album for some time. And its the long version too!!!

  • crooklyn

  • CLASSIC SOUND FIOREVER!

  • r.i.p to good music =/

  • that's what im talking about ^^ Crooklyn

  • this is aural sex

  • Man that voice makes any song great

  • Man ...I been playing this for 5 days straight at work

  • WBLS? as in KissFM? I know that's a radio station in NJ where I grew up, is that the same one you're talking about?

  • I used to listen to this during Navy mid-watches (12am-6am) in the Philippines... It's just as beautiful, provocative, and socially important now as it was 40 years ago ... and their debut album was one of the best ever produced.

  • @truth1disciple <3 Thanks

  • Their best song! Very thought provoking.

  • I love this song so true

  • people listen attentively to the lyrics of the song that speaks volumes about the crisis in our world today. It is not all about your problems, trials, tribulation and hardships that are plaguing you and our society. Get your mind off yourself and your situation, be about OTHERS and you will find that the things you are "going through" are minor comparatively speaking.A kind word or gesture daily, giving a listening ear to someone, giving a "tithe" to someone on the street, the SMALL THINGS.

  • No comparison! Sing a good song, and play the instruments. Dam I miss the 70's and 80's.

  • Real music real instruments real singing n real lyrics 4 REAL PEOPLE the 3 ppl that dislike this song cant b REAL

  • These were the best of times........exlcuding of course, the war in Nam.

  • Christians....always throwing their mythical "god" in a conversion....just enjoy the song....for gods sake....LOL

  • fortunately for all of us we don"t make the world go "round, almighty god does, and you better not forget it......

  • @sgontz1 You obviously missed the point of the song and you sound retarded.

  • @trooper40below xcuse me i"m from philly area and i did"nt mean for my comment to sound negative at all. i"m almost 60 yrs. and i did hear the words. many times, especially back in the day when it played over the radio.my comment was meant to be a positive thing.as for retarded? well i think you just misunderstood. excellent tune from an excellent group....

  • Finished High School in 73, finished college in 78.....what a wonderful time to be young, footloose and fancy free. Chillaxin' to music like this .......AHHHHHHH:)

  • Great album track. Used to play it to death. You wouldn't hear this on radio in UK in early 70s. They were too wrapped up in T Rex, Gary Glitter and all that cr@p

  • Check out Amel Larrieux's version on youtube she killed it!!!!

  • This song reminds me of my Momz

  • Caddillac muzic str8 up.....Fleetwood 7 deuce

  • LOVE IT ! Can listen to over~n~over.....

  • @Keepsz you sho rite bout dat

  • the song lives on...............the Vibe

  • The 70's were the greatest music era. Crossed all social climates, demographics and races. I am a 51 yr old white dude that jams to all the Philly soul, Motown soul and turns many young folks today what "soul" really is.

  • @brocoman2 - Precisely, Neo-Soul is not soul at all. It is cleaned up hip hop.

  • @brocoman2 RIGHT ON. MUSIC WENT FROM SOUL TO BOOTY TO RAP.

  • This song reminds me of crookyln and I almost cried watching that movie

  • @peggywm That movie brought me back to NY during that era!

  • Crooklyn

  • It's hard to believe this song didn't make it to #1--it is so much better than ANYTHING that is out now--this is what is called "Old School", but I love it as much 39 years ago as I do today. Thanks for posting this!

  • Wow, I've just played this for an hour!

  • BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.......1970's Remember ?????

  • HERMOSA CANCION. SE LA DEDICO A MI HIJA ELISA MAXIMILIANE BARON OVALLE DE 13 AÑOS Y 9 MESES Y A SU AMIGA KAREN VIVIANA RICO GOMEZ DE 16 AÑOS. ESCUCHE ESTA MUSICA CUANDO TENIA SUS EDADES, DIJO JORGE ALBERTO BARON

  • stylistics,the best!!!!!!!super dooper!!!!!!!

  • 60s and 70s had the great and best tunes. This reminds me when I grew up about 8 blocks from the Apollo Theater. That place was always lit up on weekends with the best performers. The line was around the block to get in!!!!! James Brown was always there Diana Ross & Supremes, The Four Tops, Temptations..etc..

  • I saw The Stylistics in concert earlier this year. They killed it! The original member of the group who sings lead must've passed away or left the group. So they replaced him with a guy who sounds EXACTLY like him....who is also half his age! He had to be like 35 while the rest of the group are in their 60s. He did a great job! I'm an 80s baby but I LOVE old school music!

  • @missj21 I checked it out and original lead singer Russell Thompkins, Jr. is alive and well and touring with his own group. From Wikipedia: "In 2004, Thompkins, Jr. started a new group, Russell Thompkins, Jr. and the New Stylistics, with Raymond Johnson, James Ranton, and Jonathan Buckson. "

  • love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • crooklyn !! lol

  • @sullivancountydays i know dats right

  • You have me riding in the back seat of my daddy's Ponitac bobbing my head while he picked out his afro before we took off....man this brings back memories....they don't make music like this anymore....CLASSIC!!!!!!

  • walkin around the city of Boston as a kid , just some change in my pocket, enough to take a bus and a train in and home,I was rich, because I had this music to live on!

And now I have these prescious memories, and the music sounds better than ever!

    Man......... it`s life........

  • My Dad came home from 'Nam and played this in the car for years-shit, all thru the 70s really. I remember my brother and me were in the backseat of his 72 Lincoln Continental and we were cool with it-believe or not. Now, today, I'm 42, Dad has passed away, and I still listen to his music in honor of him...I guess this, and the blow, helped him cope with coming home...Peace to the Vietnam Vets.

  • @rsharrieff Thank you... Semper Fi

  • @firstchoice1956 : No prob firstchoice. Pops was a Marine as well. Not sure what unit he was in, but I have a pic of him injured in Dah Neneg in early 69.

  • linda creed and tom bell. classic. timeless. symphonic soul.

  • linda creed and tom bell. classic. timeless.

  • It's hard to understand how anyone could not like this timely classic. Just listen to the lyrics. Compare to what you hear today...no comparison at all.

  • This was the most perfect analogy of life at that time. We were concerned about life and where it would end. Marvin Gaye, what's going on, all of us were dedicated to changing America as we knew it.

This told the truth and nothing has changed! Since then!

  • Who's the Dumbass that dislikes this timeless classic? Speak-up, B!^ch!

  • Quit hatin!

  • This work of art has 50,000 views and Lil Wayne has 39 million.......what a shame

  • @Thelookoutslookout Just remind yourself that this is Russell Tompkins, Jr. and not a no talent ex-con who knows nothing about real music.

  • idky but im addicted to this song, and im only 16

  • This song is so relevant to what is going on in 2011. The 70's had so much good music that I spent all of my allowance on records.

  • God, blessed the world with this jam. I say jam, because that's what they called the hits back then. Things were a little smoother back then. Time have really changed in some ways, and then again they have remained the same. PEACE!
