ya thats the thing!!!!!!!! i was having no bluriness on my old 6600....any one seen any thing like blurryness in vision after conitinous use of 5800 XM abt 20 mins...chk and reply all... as my frnd who owns a nokia 5800 XM was also not aggrying to that earlier, but when he used the phone in 20 kins of continous use , he replied the same b;lurr in vision...

@Sheencredible just leave it hacked, and then upgrade to v40. and remeber if u hard reset it after upgrading, then u cant hack it again unless u know how to install a custom firmware

Can you delete the contact bar from the homescreen and just leave the icons at the bottom?

@Larukuislove .......nah u cant get the icons at the bottom, but yea u can use the your old homescreen back again by going into-------settings, personalize, homescreen theme........

@adammonore you can only keep the icons at the bottom ( if its like on the x6) setting-personalize-homescreen­-homescreen and then u can delete the contacts.....

take x6 if ur on a budget and into mostly maltimedia. but it has alot of annoyin bugs wen on internet, it freezes alot... h recommend u to take 5800 if u like costomizen ur fon!:D

I stucked at v31.0.101 too. Then, when I checked for a new firmware, it said the latest version was v21 instead I had v31. If you have a product code of 0588667 or other codes which don't give you v40 firmware, you've got to change it. You can change your product code using NSS (for windows 7) or JAF 1.98.62 with PKEY (for windows 2000, windows XP and windows vista). Only then, you can have your Nokia 5800 XpressMusic updated with v40.0.005.

I am getting this phone tomorrow.I have some questions

1-Does it lags like all symbian phones cuz my N82 lags heavily.

2-How responsive is the touch screen

4-How is cam and sound quality

honestly you'll never get a one like the N82 ,still the 5800 is a sexy one, the touch is very good, sound quality is stunning, the cam is brilliant but can't be compared to N82

anyways, you'll enjoy it..truly

every thing was clear after abt 30 mins.strange, i talked to my 4 frends who also own nokia 5800 xm, and thy reprtd same..ny other user facing same issue??? see if u experience the same also please putt my comments in various blogs or consult with ur frnds if they exp the same...coz my all 4 frnds were also not accepting it all, but when i insisted them then they also noticed the same, so in case it is a hw related issue that can be dangerous to human eye vision, then we can tke it upto nokia

actually im having a strange problem with my nokia 5800xm that is after extensive usage on a game in d phn. if i look at anything far, espacially anything like a glowing electrical bulb; it appears as blurred, kinda wiered, but it IS!! actually, doesent mttr if u use ur 5800xm in dark or indoor in artificial light. i thought my eye sight has a problem, but after that blurrness in the vision,

I have a uk 5800 XM and they have not released the firmware upgrade for uk models. I read somewhere that it may take up to 2 months to get the update on my device : ( if u cant find the update then u'll have to wait like me,,,

hey, you have aircel connection. do u belong to southern part of India? TN? anyways, im in chennai and I have RM - 356 Nokia 5800 and the software version is still v30.0.0.011, i check for updates and i only get 'no updates available' msg. I did not hack my mob to change the Rm type. Did you? or does ur tube belong to someother country?

there are also 2 other features..

*when someone calls the callscreen is now a slide to answer method..and also the alarm is slide to snooze..

*and now you can control the music player

from the homesreen which was previously not available in version 31..

just try it by going to the home screen while music player is on..it also shows the album art in the home screen with basic pause/play controls..

NSU means Nokia Software Updater... you can download one from Nokia Website. It is usually connected with Nokia PC Suite

sorry deleted the last post by some viewer accidentaly. The music player is the same except for tge implementation of kinetic scrolling (unlike x6 or n97...... Theres no album art fisplay in the music list and the 'find' is still there luckily).
