RC Car with a camera on the fin linked to a TV with gas petals and a steering wheel like an actual video game...I don't know much about RC racing or RC drifting.. I dunno just a thought that seemed fun
@Respectloyalty1 - Yeah our group of racers have talked about that a lot. We hope to do it eventually. To make it even better, add the fat shark or similar fpv system so the drivers can turn their head and look around using goggles with gyro, head tracking, and the camera mounted on servos. So far we've put a wireless camera on the car and drove it via the tv, or just drove it normally and recorded, and made lots of videos from it, great fun, especially on our visually rich track.
That does exist but it's expensive :( I had that idea also, I wanted so bad to make a tomy drift with proportional everything and slidding that way... with a cam...
The cars are 1/18th scale onroad. The track was built with wood and paint basically. There are tons more details about the cars and many of our tracks on our website.
Both cars in this vid use the pharma x-citer. But now we use the JConcepts Mini BJ4 which looks cooler and has more room under it for the electronics and steering linkage.
No D-Box necessary with 4wd. We just put slick tape over the rubber tires. The rest is just driving technique. Pump the throttle and steer to kick it sideways, then to hold the slide let the steering go back to straight and squeeze the throttle gently to pull the car through the turn. Too much throttle mid-turn and you'll slide off the outside.
It's better to keep it near floor level because you get a better viewing angle (drivers are higher relative to track). Just put a half wall around it or stanchions around it. In our case we have to be able to walk on it due to the narrow shape of the room it is in. But it's not a big deal because most of it is just painted onto the concrete basement floor.
Thanks! It's actually a lot better now, see my more recent videos. Check out the website - the tracks page has a link to a photo album with captions that explains how some of it was built, and the home page has my email. Send me an email and I can send you more info.
yep that's why we like them - small enough to race indoors but high quality driving experience similar to 10th scale and better than smaller scales like mini-z.
We've done a lot of on-board video. Just look at some of my other videos. The DVD preview (4LEHqlFUYR8) has some of the most recent and best on-board footage.
Thanks. Yes it is at my home, in my basement. We made the bridge from PVC, Glass and wood, and the inclines and walls from various wood products. The rest is paint and colorful tape. The track has been improved, see my more recent videos.
Tell me if you dig this..

you should CA glue the tire barrier so it dosnet come apart ( it would be easier to put back) unless your looking for realism

@21jmk - yeah at the time we were enjoying watching them fly apart in the video.

Hey, Nice drifts!
2 questions though...
1) What body is the blue one? What brand and where can i get one?
2) Are you using rubber or foam tires? Are you using hpi's D-Box?

Another problem with table level is the transmitters are always too close to the track/cars. It cause reception issues including 2.4 GHz systems.
