  • this interview has better vocals than most songs on the radio ;)

  • I saw this and had to respond....YAHOO IS RUN BY TOOLS; IGNORANT OF ANY KIND OF DECENT MUSIC AND FRANKLY CAN KISS MY ASS AS THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY'RE FUCKING TALKING ABOUT.....I think that says my feelings and thoughts quite accurately!!!

  • 2355 comments??Way to go Audioslave fans!!!

  • they should be insulting his terrible facial hair not his music lol

  • That first comment on the video at 0:25 by that douchebag david is stupid cause everybody should know that Audislave gave ALMOST all of the money they made to charity!

  • Cornell won. Yahoo loses another battle again.

  • Hey, was the bond song produced with Timbaland? Great song! Cornell can take crap and sell on eBay n' basically he'll make a shit load and the buyer would use it as a face mask; "O hi honey, i'm seeping with it and my skin will feel and look refreshed in the morning" LoL

  • Yahoo? LOL since when did yahoo know what good music is?

  • That fucker should be fired. You are a critic and you bash Audioslave, one of the few last great bands at a time of shitty music all over the radio?? You shouldn't get a job as a critic ever again!

  • being talented and an asshole comes with the territory. Chris is oppulent in both great visionary musician but an asshole in a british sense.

  • Who is this Tendershit anyway?

  • Chris Cornell is the SHIT! Timbaland sucks balls but him being a rapper & all I guess he would be good at that editing/recording bullshit that record companys like 2 do still if Cornell ends up singing like TPAIN Im gonna say Cornell sold the fuck out but who gives a shit anyways hes had a good thing in the past & that just means I might not listen 2 any of his stuff in the future.

  • too funny...trying to find the flaws in perfection. It seems to be the human condition ( because of oppression) to bash someone who is doing what they love, well.Just for the nay sayers...I am a Soundgarden freak, Audioslave lover and then I discovered Chris Cornell.

  • Timberland??????????WHAT? someone please explain to me how they got introduced? I am lost

  • Audioslave was awesome. Anyone that doesn't like those records doesn't like Chris Cornell. Scream was horrific.

If Alice In Chains can come back with a new singer, Soundgarden can surely reunite and provide me with some music to fill the void that I feel these days. I hear a cool song on the radio and find out the dude singing is Linda Perry from 4 Non Blondes for crying out loud.

  • I don't like "Scream", but I still prefer seeing Chris do something new than reunite with Soundgarden to cash in on their past success like practically EVERY somewhat successful old band on the planet is doing. He had sworn that wouldn't happen, unless they were to make a new album that would sound better than Down on the Upside (unlikely, to say the least).

  • He's exactly right. I love how he's calm and it's in perspective. He's at least as good of a songwriter as he is a singer/musician.

  • we cant forget what audioslave was forged from soundgarden and rage against the machines and it will never live up to what it used to be

  • Need audioslave back...

Kinda feels weird to see him with Soundgarden again...even if its cool. very weird....

  • @AnselmoFanZero That's because he doesn't have the balls it takes to be in Soundgarden again. He's gone too soft. Although his voice sounds greater and greater lately.

  • @Audioslave3

    Maybe.

But maybe its just the fact, that Soundgarden is just TOO old-school these days.

  • @AnselmoFanZero I'd like to think that's not true. It's up to them to retain their style but sound fresh at the same time. Like Alice in chains's Black gives way to blue.

  • @Audioslave3

Audioslave was timeless as well, but fits better in the times of today.

  • eh cornell you need to seriously start growing your fuckin music again what is this man? seriously quit your fuckin day job and get your ass back into the fuckin garden.

  • i think if chris cornell could act and cut his hair again he'd suite drake in the uncharted movie

  • The only reason you're all insulting him for his collab with timberland, is because timberlands considered mainstream and "pop".. which is a fucking stupid reason. If you knew anything about music, you wouldn't judge a producer based on that. Chris isn't a stupid retard. He knows what he's doing. If you don't like timberland, that's YOUR fucking problem. He'll still sell like a mother.

  • I dont even understand how anyone could say anything bad about Audioslave. Get serious.

  • screw any doubters..his last CD flopped, to me he is still a KING of songwritng..and the guys vocals and abiltity to carry that tune to the last octave is amazing....so quit hatin on this.singer, songwriter and perfomance talent.u get up an do his job.frak!! if u live near me i will kick ur ass. i like other artist but he has been doin this for half my life.wil not abandon hin now!

  • cornell with???????????? doesnt matter.he does no wrong a.s far as im concerned

  • Artisan News sucks dick, there like the little kid on the playground who runs and tells teacher what the older kid said.

  • @xrowdyroddypiperx ahahahahahahahaaaaaaaa! you're excactly right

  • How do you not like Audioslave? They were an excellent band holy fuck.

  • All in all, who the fuck cares what Yahoo thinks?

  • Chris Cornell = Rock GOD!!!

  • Soundgarden = nudedragonS Lollapalooza 2010 Telephantasm Black Rain on CoCo ! /All well worth the13 Year wait! Hearing Critics silenced! /Priceless!!!!

    l

  • I like it all. You can't mess art up, you can only re-create it

  • i prefer soundgarden because im 20, rock on

  • @g00dguyforyou they are fairly similar bands

  • soundgarden was great but audioslave was a bunch of contrived bullshit and ripped off led zeppelin, pearl jam, and pantera riffs

  • @aezeon Soundgarden was great confused teenage angst music, whilst Audioslave was just pure angst at a more mature level. You can make comparisons with other bands over the years but Chris Cornell i think has been in the music industry with consistency long enough for him not to be pigeon holed ;)

  • joined audioslave? please. he STARTED AUDIOSLAVE

  • @mlbmlsnfl Ya Know!

  • yawa

  • timbaland is a good producer..so what if his music is made for clubs and is mainstream?

  • @MissusFingerBottom It.. it just doesn't work. It doesn't sound right =[ I wouldn't mind him working with Timbaland if they actually made good music but.. holy Jesus :O

  • @klsjafksjdfklsdfjkls maybe you can try listening to the live versions, they are more Chris and less Timbaland, and his voice isn't masked by all the effects used during the studio version. Plus with Chris's showmanship, the songs are actually pretty fantastic. I love "2 drinks minimum" accoustic.

  • The man's doing what he wants.... He's paid his dues and he's still around making music.... If ya don't like it.... don't listen, don't buy!! I'm a hardcore Soundgarden fan too, and I LOVE Scream. Three cheers for turning out something really different... Life's like that.... forever changing.... Chris Cornell stirs my soul. Fan for life...

  • You know, I was around during all the soundgarden albums, but I don't mind telling anyone that I think Audioslave is a much better band than Soundgarden. They sound better musically and vocally.

Maybe the headbanger crowd disagrees, but real music has melody.

  • I think they were both great bands, each one according to their time and style. =

  • Liked Zach better

  • The first Rage Against the Machine album was nearly perfect and the first Audioslave album was fantastic. You don't get asked to sing the James Bond theme if you aren't one of the greatest stars out there. His version of Billie Jean gets him into the hall of fame alone. Yahoo sucks and yes it was reactionary nonsense and ignorance. Cornell solo and Timbaland? Yikes. I'm gonna say no comment.

  • personally, i think scream was classic "cornell", being in that he did it because the constraints of what should be done basically said for him not to do it

  • the biggest fan in the 90's - my license plates even use to read 'sndgrdn' but these days 1 word - sell out!

  • Audioslave kicked ass.

  • what a horrible voice man!!! producers can be just a shit... AUDIOSLAVE WAS THE FIRST MISTAKE OF CORNELL... now that shit ... fuck... LONG LIFE FOR SOUNDGARDEN AND i hope that if he's going to sing dont come and sing like a pussy he became because that would be the end of soundgarden the same happened with alice in chains and it's fucking reunion

  • @onionblaster ahh onion blaster..shut the fuck up! i hate people who are critical of shit like this..hes chris cornell...and your just sum fat fuck sittin on a keyboard fuckface!! what u say dont mean shit...so shut your shit up and stick it back in your ass hole poo puncher!!!

  • @onionblaster So you want to him to sing like a confused fucked up person angry at the world in depressed confusion his whole life do you? You're a pussy if that is what you are going to behave like your whole life but if you wake up to yourself and see the bigger picture then you will mature and so will your music along with it.

  • dude, my brother showed me the article on yahoo that said audioslave was a shit band and i was like "well this is a shit article. this guy CLEARLY does not know the meaning of good music for slamming audioslave."

  • hmmm...sure the timbaland trax will be super fresh, I can't wait to get my hands on every album, then have a big mass burning of every one.

  • Cornell only wrote about half of soundgarden songs. Ben Shepard, Kim Thayil and Matt Cameron wrote their share as well. So it's not surprising if his solo stuff isn't the same/as good.

  • Fricken annoing womans voice..

  • OK. for all of you who think that Cornell's music isn't good anymore just watch the acoustic version of Scream performed live by Chris. listen to it then think about the fact that it IS a good song. it's his right to make a R&B/pop version of it and it's not "selling out". he's trying new things and he's still as good a vocalist and lyricist as ever and he hasn't done ANYTHING to deserve the shit that a lot of people seem tho be giving him.

  • @slackopoulos Very true. The problem with having the success that Chris has had is there will always be someone complaining about the stuff you do. ACDC stay true to the music they started playing and people complain they just redo the same stuff over and over again. Chris is graet for making the music he wants and if you like it great if you don't oh well your loss.

  • audioslave was every bit as good as soundgarden, both were amazing, AS had a lot of very good tunes....

  • @Oftenezeefachezee Soundgarden are light years ahead of audioslave. The two are not even comparable.

  • ok but how hard would it ba to go from a band like Soundgardens amazing dynamics to a one dimensional band like Audioslave. Compare LIKE A STONE to Rusty Cage...

  • Chris Cornell has no defence after the Scream album.

  • I love it all, I love him, he can do country with keith Urban and i will STILL love that man!

  • audioslave was a joke. rage against irvine sucked.

  • @joeyp4099 hahahah i personally love audioslave and RATM.. audioslave more them RATM..but there both great bands in my opinon..chris cornell is my hero in musi world

  • whats the first song thats played?

  • umm......wat

  • Great to see that Cornell has realised the error of his ways and Soundgarden are once more! I've loved his work with BANDS..... his solo work has been from mediocre to pathetic.

  • The best singer is Freddie Mercury. although I think he is ranked #2 with Mirah Carey being #1, don't know why she would be number one over Freddie. Hopefully that will change. < I spelled Carey's lst name wrong. Anyway I love Chris and His voice, Smile.

  • @CPrincessC Well Mariah Carey technically speaking holds the guiness book of world records for the best vocals. . . Doesn't mean I like her though. It's all a matter of tastes. but damn she can sing.

  • Soundgarden.....YES

    Audioslave.....YES

    Cornell with Timberland....NO

  • Yeah, Chris Cornell with Timberland isn't exactly a great match.

But with Audioslave, it was a strange yet exciting formation of bringing two different styles of music together.

  • @LEBAROT mate its just timberland trying and failing to make him self look cool and a hard rocker never will hapen, as for Cornell, well we all make mistakes sometimes this was his he does not need anybody well save for former band members of Sound and audio

  • @LEBAROT

    Soundgarden..... YES

    Temple of the Dog.... YES

    Audioslave.... NO

    Cornell with Timberland.... NO

    Cornell solo.... NO

There! Fixed your post for you

  • @DenOfWhasps Audioslave was fucking beast! one of his best songs if not the best he ever produced was "show me how to live" u fucking mongoloid!

  • @DenOfWhasps ok grungyhead! jk now seriously, listen to the first 2 Audioslave albums and I promess you'll like them.

  • @LEBAROT Youre forgetting temple of the dog! ill help you out

    Temple of the dog....YES :P

  • @LEBAROT i give thumbs up for ur comment although i think its great chris is expending his carreer and experimenting with new sound but if he crosses over to pop he will loose most of his fan base, imho.

  • Chris's voice is very distinctive-I also am a long time fan of Soundgarden too

  • Love his voice, one of the greatest of our time

  • I honestly think Chris Cornell has ,hands down, the BEST voice in rock and roll history. Opinion...that what this is.. not right or wrong JUST Opinion...Lets see how many douche bags wanna rip on my statement. Its like saying someones wrong saying red is their favorite color. I just think octave wise Chris has the most range and can hold a bad ass scream forever! LOVE IT LONG TIME!!!

  • He is by far my favorite, and I would totally agree with you, with one exception...Freddie Mercury. Though not my personal fav. his voice was incredible.

  • @MrMachuta

I have to agree, his screams are, well, awesome, but (not ripping, just stating my opinion and if u say Im a douche then I can call u a mega douche,) Robert Plant is sorta better by // that much space.

  • @MrDMachuta

Cornell actually didn't really have a large range, he was just very well at working with the range he had (IE he refined what he already had). Great singer/songwriter though.

  • @Plozen He has a four octave range. . . that's pretty large.

  • @35TCK

No he doesn't, he just has a colouring that makes his voice sound like it's going higher than it is. If you were to compare him to a set of guitar strings, he'd be chrome rather than steel.

  • @Plozen D2 to A5, 4 octaves.

  • @Plozen "didn't really have a large range"???? for a male, especially??? You obviously haven't heard the same songs i've been listening to all these years. I honestly can't think of another male vocalist who is even capable of singing "Slaves and Bulldozers" the way he did, can you? And its not just about upper register. Its measured from low to high. What an asinine, ignorant comment.

  • @sweetorganic don't forget ''call me a dog''

holy crap he could hit those high notes.

  • AUDIOSLAVE FOREVER!!!!!!!!!

  • he's made some amazing music and some stuff that i'm not that into.. if you look at his body of work, it can not be disputed that he is a truly gifted songwriter.

  • Chris Cornell rules, sure his new stuff isnt the same, but obvious some people liked it, Audioslave RULES as does soundgarden and temple of the dog

  • anyone who disrespects this dude is a faggot ass muther fucker who deserves to suck cock in hell bitches

  • Arm yourself because noone here will save you. 007

  • @Steve Sparkx

    Casino Royale?

  • Quite

  • Cornell looks better with short hair @ 1:02

  • he is always passing over critics.. maybe he is heading avant garde nowadays since many people did not understand why he joined a project among Timbaland.

  • his newest work is what it is, but regardless the guy is an amazing artist. I wouldn't say he is nothing the guy is badass. i'm just not real sure whats going on with his current "music".

  • They kicked ass. I love Chriss cornell.

  • WTF?????

  • A Timbaland+Cornell album may not be very good & I'm one that will agree w/ that, but I will give both of them credit for trying something new.

  • i second that...altough "two drinks minimum" validates buying the record

  • cornell's new album SUCKS.

  • audioslave kicked so much ass. the solos and yells and bass riffs. mmMMmm! chris is doin' what he wants to do, i bet whoever he loves has somethin' to do with what he is doin'. and that's fine by me!

  • Timbaland+Cornell= Dogshit

I agree 100%...please give us CC back!

  • in your opinion

  • audioslave was great but they were nowhere near the greatness of soundgarden

  • @sotelix I prefer Audioslave to Soundgarden, because I like the type of songs, and the variety of songs, that Audioslave does.Chris shows his versatility in Audioslave, with songs like Doesn't Remind Me and Original Fire.I like how he ventured from what Soundgarden fans are familiar with.Soundgarden is one of the pioneers, and leaders, in Grunge, so Soundgarden is trumps Audioslave in terms of fan base and critical acclaim. But Audioslave is one of the best rock bands and is seriously underrated

  • @MissusFingerBottom i agree. i got much respect for him for doing what he wanted to do and NOt what he was expected to do. He was asked in a interview if he was doing the Soundgarden reunion for the fans, and he said somethin like "honestly i do music for myself. but if i am passionate about what i am doing, then i feel like the fans will be able to understand that"

  • @sotelix bullshit.

  • @TheReverandOfFunk like soundgarden better, audioslave was still great

  • rage against the machine rules. Audioslave kicked ass too.

    havent heard alot of sondgarden

  • Timbaland+Cornell= Dogshit

That should've been the name of the album.

  • Comment removed

  • the problem is this. soundgarden and ratm were outstanding, original bands, whereas audioslave was middle of the road rock, and they stuck to the same formulas throughout. no one expected it to be so uninspired.

as for the new solo album......no comment!.

  • @chronicreptile

Ehh. . you could say the same thing with any of it. Rage was running a little dry, sticking with the same formula at the last half of The battle of Los Angeles. Hip hop inspired verse, hard rock riff chorus with zach screaming one thing over and over, wierd solo with overdriven bass. I Still love all of these musicians though. Audioslave included.

  • They're retards for saying he was bad with audioslave. Audioslave rocked like hell. I'm sick of all the idiots who like to slam it just because it sounds different from RATM/Soundgarden. However, I am pretty dissapointed with this solo stuff.

  • dud u have awsome voice keep it on

    Btw

    Got Jesus?

  • Fans can look at it from as much angles as they please and argue the rest of their lives... In the end, they're humans like us. They have to pay bills and take care of themselves/their families. I'd stratigize a diff. route if my fam was starving.

Never the less, Chris IS SO TALENTED and that's something nobody on any website can steal from him!

    Peace!

  • has it occured to ANY of you that he may like his music and that his taste in musioc changed.

  • Yeah! That's how he seems to be talking about it in every interview. Why is it so bad for him to try new stuff? If people don't like it, their Soundgarden albums still exist at least until Chris's next venture.

I think the more people bash this and call him a sellout for doing it, and crying for a Soundgarden reunion, the less likely it is for him to want to do one.

  • I mean, a Soundgarden reunion would be really cool, but you can bet a ton of people would come out and call him a sellout for doing that too.

Because, I mean, c'mon. If he wanted to sell out and just make a big chunk of cash, a Soundgarden reunion is the easiest way to do that.

If they reunite because they want to for the music and the band, then great! But right now Chris seems pleased trying new things.

  • Plus, as a move to sell out and make quick cash, Scream in no way fits that model.

Chris isn't a huge rap/r&b star and Timbaland isn't a rock star... It's not a pairing you'd expect. Yes Chris is huge and so's Timbaland, but I don't think they'd be each other's obvious choice for a career boost.

I mean, it's possible for hugely famous people to just... want to get together and try things out and create together.

You don't have to like it, but a risk like that deserves at least a bit of respect

  • Chris Cornell is taking the Axl Rose path by selling out and making shit music when he used to make shit hot music.

  • I wouldn't say Cornell is selling out by making different music, yes, it might not be as good as the music he made with Audioslave or Soundgarden, but i think if he was to "sell out", he would just get one of his old bands back together and make a shit load of money

  • he is a kind sexy ...sorry

  • Audioslave was great....too bad Audioslave and RATM can't exist at the same time :)

  • Ive lost all respect for Chris Cornell

TOM MORELLO FOR THE FUCKING WIN

  • I would listen to Chris Cornell sing me the phone book. I LOVE his voice and will continue to support him in his musical career.

  • Then you are a tool. Fucking sheep like you are encouraging him to keep making this garbage he spews out now/

  • completely agree with cornell. They are ignorant

  • i love the song scream on his solo album. you guys sgould hear it. oh and i loved audioslave too. he has such a powerful voice. :)

  • I do personally think Audioslave was his best work but it his choice to do a solo act or not and he's an amazing singer so it was a shot. Some people don't like it that's fine but he's still an amazing singer and lyricist

  • sorry but he's a sell out to go ahead and make a Record with Timbaland. He's become greedy.

  • how can u say hes become greedy ...i mean he has been in so many diffrent bands and this was just an attempt to make a solo name for himself...not jut for the money

  • No!!! He's done 2 solo albums prior to working with Timbaland and they were good but not great. Working with Timbaland is selling out because Cornell knows he can make a bit of cash from just Timbalands name being on the record. And the new album was pure shit. Typical sell out sounding shit. Chris Cornell sold out the day he cancelled a gig for his fans to play a Rich Mans private party. Sorry Chris, BUT YOU SOLD US OUT!!!

  • Regardless of whether or not he did sell out, I think that, more than anything, he's just looking for a new musical outlet to express himself through. It's not going to change my attitude toward him, because he is still a great singer who just needs to rediscover himself. Besides, "Timbaland" is just another producer. He'd be selling out more if he did the record with, say, Rick Rubin.

  • Working with Rick Rubin doesn't mean your a Sell Out. It means you have half a brain about someone who can Rebuild your career without changing you style of music and making you a sell out. So your saying Metallica, Slipknot and Slayer have sold out???

  • Please excuse any offense to you, but are you retarded???

This is the polar opposite of selling out. Look at all these negative comments, everybody hate's it! You think he's doing this new style to please the fans? If he wanted to please the fans and sell out he'd get back with Soundgarden.

  • How does getting back with a BAND that MADE YOU WHO YOU ARE make you a sell out??? So Chris Cornell cancels a show to play a Rich Mans private party doesn't make him a sell out to his fans??? He in the Industry to make money now. His new Material is pure crap. Poppy commercial sounding trash.

  • You must not know what "selling out" means.

It means giving in to the fans and pleasing the fans while making money off of what they want.

You're apparent disapproval is proof that he is not selling out. He is in fact doing the opposite. All these people like you hate what he's doing, so if he was selling out, why would he do that? Just think about it. I understand what you mean, but that's not selling out, that's making money.

  • Sorry mate but selling out is exactly that. Making Money!!! Music isn't about making Money. Yes its good thing to make money by doing something you love. But to Cancel a show for your fans to play a Rich Mans party because he offered you more money is SELLING OUT!!! It just shows that he's in the industry for one thing now.

  • Cornell has to stop being the Mr. nice guy. He should respond and be like a pompus ass hole, smart ass mother fucker to those who fuck with him. And yes he is one of the last good Rock singers Alife.

  • Chris Cornell,Audioslave,RATM, They all rock it doesn't matter what band Chris is in he rocks....His style and His lyrics....They have nothing better to do than pick on him...THEY NEED TO GET A LIFE!!!!!! PEACE.

  • Cornell is the man. It does not matter if he is singing over hip hop beats, or screaming over the guitars of Morello or Thayil. He is the best at what he does.

  • I dont think its that easy to label Cornell a sellout. Knowing how "puritain" some of his fans would be, it was definitely a bold gesture to turn to hip hop. To no critical success, but still, I think the fact that he was ready to try shows his openness of mind with music.

  • Chris is a true artist with a penchant for change when he wants to venture out beyond the expected... and I respect that completely. A great guy and a great artist.

  • chris cornell's music is always different no matter what band he's playing with...

he was only one part of soundgarden, you take the band away, they take their influnce and styles with them. audioslave is just him playing with rage against the machine..... his other solo albums sounded different from both those bands.... this one he's just collaberating with that producer guy.... the lyrics are still cornell. does everyone get mad at matt cameron for not turning pearl jam into soundgarden?

  • I can't say i really like his new music, but hell, he's an artist and he's just trying out something new for a change (although I adored his previous music). Obviously people don't like it that much. The next album he puts out will probably be similar to his old music, or at least different from this album.

Hopefully, he won't stay with this genre of music. :\
