  • 0:30 Ryan is so clearly pissed of by how shit the mixing is lolol

  • Very Good!

  • The vocals are sweet and original. The only reason people don't like them is because the radio pumps our auto tuned vocals 24/7. This is what singing sounds like live. You can't hit every note perfectly. For bad singing but good music come check out my channel or just search:

An Island's View - Summer Shoes (single Preview)

  • i love this so much.

  • 3:03 evil eyes

  • MAN SNEEZE! MAN SNEEZE :)

  • @mattmadden777 Lol now when I listen to this song, I don't hear "Men's needs" I hear "Man sneeze".. xD

  • why're you talking shit about vocals, people? what do you need, opera singing? the voices of the brothers are awesomely charismatic and perfectly fit the cribs' music. it's rock music, not placido domingo.

  • How did this get signed? Seriously. Im not trying to make people mad. Is there some sort of artistic genius im overlooking here? I heard this just recently for the first time and was like "whoa". And it wasnt "whoa" b/c it was brilliant, it was because i was shocked that this is a hit. Is it maybe like one of those things where its so simple that its actually somehow great? Ive heard of philosophies like that before, like in art and stuff, i dunno. Just wonderin'

  • @ispepteid1 the point of the Cribs is that the shitty vocals don't matter. They are highly talented musicians and it's the lyrics that need to be put under the microscope, not the quality of the vocals. It's raw, lo-fi indie music so I guess it fits into the genre. They actually sometimes sound good.

That's how I look at it anyway...

  • @ispepteid1 The album sounds way better. In this video the instrumentals are spot still.

  • @ispepteid1 Cos people like it, and not that they (the cribs) me or prob anyone else here cares but its their highest charted single (17) so they must have done something right lol

  • que buena cancion en especial la guitarra cada segundo de la cancion es un solo!

  • He's such an underrated guitar player

  • I truly hate most bands after about 1978

I'm a young guy, but I've just never got into it.

However, the Cribs are really impressive.

    Such a great song

  • Seeing them later this year for the first time cant wait always wanted to go just never got round to it

  • Seeing them later this year for the first time cant wait always wanted to go just neer got round to it

  • nice but...whats up with the voice :/

  • una cancion pegajosa ....pero buena!!!

  • Ive seen them live and they were amazing... seriously

  • I fuckin hate these stupid 893 sessions of the cribs. I got recommended them by a friend and I watched these and immediately cast them off as shit. Their not, its just the shit production of the video. I love the cribs and saw them live at Leeds and they are amazing!

  • piece of garbage

  • @CHTSLennon your a piece of garbage if you dont like this song!!!!!

  • @MissJessicaIce No,no no. It's "You belong in aa garbage can!!"

  • @MissJessicaIce That's a bit heavy isn't it? Whatever happened to "each to their own"? Lol

  • Mans Needs.. APOLLO CREED!!

  • what an absolute hoard of shit

  • WHAT A SHIT!

  • i love this band loads . but seeing the has put me of seeing them live lol. stic to the stuideo recording

  • @jankhamster Brilliant live, don't kid yourself.

  • @jankhamster Mate, I'd urge you to reconsider that! One of the best live bands I've ever had the pleasure of seeing. They brought the show to us, in true punk spirit!

  • ..this is the first song I hear when I play dirt 2

  • 3:02 "He just done fucked up my song" LMAO

  • Sounds like a toenail is stuck in his throat but, anway, nice song

  • @PSP3000PLAYER

    I am geeking out!

  • Occasionally singing out of tune makes the music sound more raw and human...EVERY pop song I hear nowadays on the radio sounds robotic.

  • you Americans don't understand the concept of Wakefield

  • they sound scotish

  • I never really liked the Cribs before, but this is great.

  • am i the only one that still likes the whole thing, including the voice?

  • @wonderfilworkofwilly Nope, I like it to. I like all the performances they did on The Current. The instrumentals wer pretty freaking good, and I don't see what everyone's problem is with he singing. I love these guys.

  • @wonderfilworkofwilly noo i love it!!

  • This is before Gary had an operation to do with his voice, if your referring to Gary, but still, They're from Wakefeild, their accent is DEEP! thats never gunna change!

    Class from Ryan there.

  • the worst singing always the best in inide music.

..its raw and good ..makes a band better ...

  • i think how they sing in this song is pretty neat. that's just me though.

not every live performance sounds exactly like the actual song ! enjoy it bitches :]

  • vocals are wicked

  • to be honest, that guitar line is a bitch to play, never mind singing over the top of it...

  • omg, more practice needed

  • this is terrible.

  • wow they need a vocal coach or some hot tea or something jeesh

  • Our band actually recorded in the same building their first album was recorded. A tiny 3 story flat in wakefield in the top bedroom. We smoked pot in the "pot loft" where they did and sat on the dodgy yellow chair with "The Disaster" stitched into it.

Recorded with nothing more than a drum mic set, a couple of SM57's, a reel-to-reel and a copy of pro-tools

  • Crap sound...

  • I like the original video more...with a naked girl dancing :)))

  • i love ryan jarman but the Jools performance is amazing and much better.

  • the first guy just talk...he does not sing..the second one just screams like a mad man XD WTF??

  • i like them!!fucking awsome!!!

  • He's definatley gay... there's nothing wrong with that, I just dont see how Kate and him are dating when he's so gay, and Kate seems pretty gay herself. Anyways I love them both, no harsh feelings :P

  • @DemocraticTwang how can you be sure?

  • @smithhedgehog Well I guess I can't be unless they were both like "we're gay" lol. I don't know if you've heard Ryan talk but it's a total gay guys voice. I live in Palm Springs California, and it's a gay guy haven here so I can tell haha.

  • @DemocraticTwang Yes, he does have an effeminate voice, but its also quite a lazy voice, a drawl...so I think that effects it Even more. perhaps its the wakefield accent...that can sound quite lazy and camp sometimes....wakefield incidently, is about 5 or 6 miles from my house, here in England :-)

  • @smithhedgehog I dunno lol, but I've got my gaydar on him and Kate. XD. I saw an interview with Kate and she said she was from Harrow btw, but I've heard Ryan's from Wakefield :P

  • @DemocraticTwang p.s. which is where they're from.

  • Have you noticed i've never been impressed

by your friends from new york and london.......

  • okay, the playing was awesome, and the guitarists voice was ok, but what the hell was the bassist doing, in my opinion, that bassist should have sang better than that

  • buuff buena cancion pero el guitarrista le falta afinar un poco :)

  • Gary has some quality vocal moments. This is not one of those moments.

  • One Great Band

    ;)

  • yo I love the rough voice! I think it's more human

  • w t fuck guysssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

  • cant wait til this summer, when i´m gonna see them live :D

  • Awesome band

  • Man, it seems like their hung over or something.

  • Backing vocalist was ever so slightly flat.

  • @blissnabob he is ever so slightly a terrible singer... yet somehwo catchy =)

  • terrible performance!!!

  • Man they sound terrible live:[

  • Love that bass line.

  • @Swodaem Im Learning it :DD

  • Holy fuck these gents sound like the Jam

  • @ilikecakealot No.

  • gay shirt

  • Ouais j'aime bien ^^

  • marr is still in modest mouse. he's in both

  • how are they bad musicians? They're awesome. They're prob not the best instrumentalist, but guitar playing and creativity are 2 different things. With Johny Marr i think the sounds become very tight. Go see them live, im sure ull agree....

  • @thomxAristy

Definitely agree mate. Saw them last year and they were bloody brilliant

  • johnny marr is apart of the cribs now tho

  • Johnny Marr played live with them last night in Toronto!! very cool!

  • the song is so good, but they are bad musicians

  • @RfernandesC thats their thing. unpolished.

  • What they are playing is simple but their techniques are all very tight. It's not really fractured - the sort of thing that the Libertines used to specialise in.

  • don't talk pish.

  • nuestras necesidades ja

    GENIAL!!!

  • =D

    como amo esa cancion!!!!

  • nah, marrs not in modest mouse anymore. been an official member of the cribs for a while now.

  • i mean, the guitars a bit off but consider that he is singing aswell. :)

  • anybody see them at brixton last night?

    fucking amazing.

  • good band but the voice...heum

  • @fucktheutubeusername you are right... they aren't good singers but they sound good (if u get what i mean). the studio version is very cool, here their voices are ... :/

  • @fucktheutubeusername It's usually a lot better live, I can vouch that playing in a setting like this sucks ass, so hard not to be flat in your singing.

  • @fucktheutubeusername The studio version is better. He's not hitting those high notes here.

  • of course he missed the string

  • does he miss the string around 26 seconds? I'm learning this at the moment and trying to work out the tab, anyone help?

  • yeah he does

  • q cancion ta mas chida por q no vienen a mexico

  • This wasnt their best live performance ive seen of this, still great though.

Cant wait to see them again in December....!!!

  • haha well said law!

  • shit

  • great guitaring

  • Great tune, but this sounds like a karaoke session :/

  • ryan jarman's such a manc :D

  • Manc as in Mancunian?

It so please die, theyre from Wakefield, West Yorkshire!

  • i thought they was mancs?

apologies. but fuck me, i shouldn't fucking die for it!

  • Okay, you can live.

Johnny Marr, the ex-smiths guitarist has recently joined The Cribs, and he's a manc, maybe you got confused.

The other 3 Jarman brothers are all from Wakefield.

  • So, is Marr still with Modest Mouse or no?

  • the bassist cant sing very well... maybe an off day... i like the studio version.

  • i like the band, their music and lyrics, but im sorry they just cant sing

  • yeh they sound better on disc lol

  • sometimes a persons/bands imperfections let you relate to them more. you could be on the same level as them. they are not some super celeb that is unreachable. they are ordinary lads like one of us.

    thus making them perfect

  • I agree, I thought of the band Hefner.

  • they were just having an off day.

  • are they twins or just similar brothers

  • gary(bassist) and ryan(guitarist) they're twins

and ross is the youngest brother

  • twins lol

  • jimmy carr with a beard :L

  • the drummer looks a bit like jimmy carr

  • Comment removed

  • Are you some kind of fucking retard?.. well yeah you are, look at your username (Y). Yeah actually, they do know me, so dont start that. Cunt.

  • Stalkerrrrrrr (Y).

  • Yeah okay then (Y). For someone who doesnt know me, or them, i suggest you shut the fuck up. :)

  • Yeah, you know them, and they know your name.

    HAHAHAHA, you fucking weapon.

  • Who do you think you are? Do you think it makes you look 'big' to start an argument over YouTube. You pathetic little cunt.

  • Who do you think you are? Do you think it makes you look 'big' claiming you know The Cribs? You pathetic little cunt.

  • kiss and make up

  • To be honest.

I am a massive Cribs fan, have all the albums, know all the words etc...

But it has to be said that the vocals are less than great when they perform live.

I reckon that adds to the "rough and ready" vibe they have going on anyway.

    Whatever

  • AHHAHA THAT'S FUNNY....everybody are reactioning so stupid....can you have a strike on the the web? i mean....it was only my judge...nothin more....i think you should have more sex....

  • its a fuckin' wicked tune..with an excellent riff..the only thing that lets this performance down is the recording ..the levels are all wrong..that is all....!! l

  • why would you even take the time to look up a band that you dont even like..just to call them 'retarded'..who's the retard? its such a shallow comment that i'm even dismayed at myselfst taking the time to reply to it...!!

  • and they look fucking retarded

  • Fuck you.

  • SURE...FUCK YOU TOO

  • Ha, some right fucking weapons on youtube...

  • they sucks

  • I'd like to see you, or any guitarist in most bands play that riff, and sing.

  • Took me about 2 months to be able to play that riff and sing. So difficult.

  • no you fuckwit

  • LOL

  • you are thinging about the futureheads cover of hounds of love..maybe?

  • troll

  • Kate Nash covered this song. It was originally by The Cribs.

  • Seriously, Go die.

Kate Nash killed this song, and every other song she has tried to cover.

  • i love the cribs

  • I like the way the bassist's tee matches the blinds in the background.

  • he isnt drinking tea :s

  • ur fucking retard he meant his t-shirt hahahaha

  • trolled.

  • they are a really good band, they pull of a kind of sloppy look without actually sounding shit.

BUT in this version the chorus with the bassist is out of tune. I've seen them on a few videos do this far better.

Musically this performance is really good, but the singing is a bit out particularly with the bassist.

But a good band they still remain.

  • they are amazing,

    all the time

  • It doesn't work for either Ryan and Gary in this performance, I does look like Ryan is aware of it though,

Like when he first starts to sing, he looks a bit unsure.

And Gary, doesn't get that hoarseneess that he usually has in this song.

  • has anyone here tried to play bass and sing? pretty difficult

  • Not really, not if you practise enough, which is not that much.

  • of course it's different for you, you are a musician master, liam.

  • can't say i disagree lol!

  • did you really laugh out loud?

  • You daft bastards, the voice makes them who they are, therye from wakefield in yorkshire, its the accent, im guessing a lot of the comments are from americans, live music is meant to be like this, i watched them last week they were insane, if you want good vocal tone listen to whitney houston, if you want rock and roll listen to the cribs and bands, dnt go saying people cant sing!

  • why does he sing so bad?

  • the yelling kind of makes it for me, in a lot of ways

  • He can't sing at all. He's yelling into the microphone and going flat. I don't know it's like they never had voice lessons or taken any class.

  • Why would they have voice lessons they arent proffesionals they are a working class band!

  • it sounds like he was singing "myspace" @ the chorus, haha to me at least. love the song though :)

  • its realllyyy hard to play that riff and sing at the same time, seriously seriously hard im talkin. But yea, theyre not great singers, but great songwriters.

  • why is everyone hating it, if you hate the band so much dont watch it you morons.

  • props to these guys

its so hard to play that riff and sing at the same time.

  • yeah, riffs easy, but then you try to add the vocals and its a guarenteed fuck up hehe.

  • i cant decide whether he can sing or not.. lol.. but its a good song :)
