  • does anyone know which Kagai Satoai is from, and if she is still active?

  • she's not a geisha,she's a maiko

her collar is red, geisha collar is all white

also he obi is dangles and geisha obi is in complete knot

  • Gion Kouta represent the affection and beauty off a maiko thrue the seasons.

its specialy represented in this song is her darari obi, and furisode kimono (hikizuri)

  • She is very very very beautiful ...

I love her dance, her face <3

  • is she getting annoyed?

  • Grace Like Rain by Todd Agnew will be my geisha praise dancing song/music <3

  • This is a maiko by the way, not a geisha.

  • @MsSaraMurray Yeah, 'cause her collar is red ;-)

  • this is the Gion Kouta its actully a dance to represent the daily life of a geisha.....

  • Wow, I like how the Japanese culture is really unique. :D

  • does anybody know her name?

she looks like Ichkawa on another video.

    Ichikawa is my most favorite.

    very beautirul :)

  • @mark60060 Someone commented on my other video that her name was Satoai.

  • this is actually a Maiko, not a Geisha, see the red collar? And the way her Obi is tied makes her a Maiko.

  • What a wonderful sr maiko :-)

She dance Miyagawa-cho version for Gion Kouta,as she is a maiko from Miyagawa-cho :-)

    Lovely

  • The thingy she ties around here waiste looks like the Star of David pattern over and over.

(sorry if I dont know what that is called....someone can educated me if they wish)

  • it looks like enlarged bamboo caning

  • @Yuri92001 It's an Obi.

  • @Alias1495 Oh gosh how could I have forgotten lol

  • She's very, very, pretty and graceful.

It's funny, because at several points in the video you see her kind of give this annoyed look at some people.

  • yeah its the song i hear the most when looking at geisha dancing videos - i recognize it and im not even japanese!

  • HI! =3

  • Yeah, hence why it's titled Gion Kouta, aka Song Of Gion (The most popular geiko district).

  • she has a cute round face

    kawaii (^-^)

  • That's not completly true. The song talks also about love and beauty of maikos, and how men love them and their sensual purity.

  • Agreed... this song has nothing to do with love... it's about Kyoto's seasons. Going through Spring, Summer, Fall, and then Winter.

  • also remembe they are huge on puns and euphamisms. going through the season may also represent the maiko getting older and more beautiful.

  • The song actually doesn't speak of a lover. But it is a story of Gion and it's seasons.
