  • how exactly do u put out the flames if there is a constant gas flow

  • yeh he did well on the production

  • Those wells up there are horny as hell. So much pressure. Did a couple Co2 fracs up there and got back crazy pressure while flowing.

  • dude, that snare is WICKED. Sweet music mon. Good video.

  • Bradford County residents be afraid,be very afraid............

  • Might be a dumb question, but why was it deliberately ignited with flares?

  • @slt223 They had to get the rig out of the way so they could put the control assembly on and in doing so they would have likely lit the gas off at a time they weren't expecting it and had men in close proximity. So they lit it off to prevent it from unintentionally being lit.

  • Nice music man

  • I'm a rig mover and all I know is I just hope I'm never around one of these!

  • Ok dont tell me that I'm the only person here who wants this car 1:00

  • i keep expecting arnold schwarzenegger to walk out te flames then.

  • a safety man must have came up with the music!

  • add spark

  • most likley the most annoying music on you tube:) except the ghost rider one!

  • hell before and after....the life of an overdone shitnoodle ready for the taking...

  • muy buen video!

  • What's the music called? Sounds like Dances with Homosexuals.

  • Worst music of any you tube video out there.

  • they light it on fire prob cuz its sour gas and can kill u within mins.. lighting it on fire gets rid of the hazard of droping dead. its a big hassel cuz now u gotta pull the rig off the well head so u have a striaght site of veiw and level ground to work on..

  • why light it on fire?? wouldnt that just complicate things???

  • When there is a blow out why do they shoot flares into the blow and cause it to engulf?

  • @L1lzk thats a sour well ( meaning the gas comeing out of it would kill you in minutes )

  • dumb video.

  • devastating the environment. nice job.

  • music was super gay

  • A one in the Ussr blew for THREE YEARS it was unstoppable, dammit I forget which link its on.

  • where in northern bc was this at?

  • there's your problem

  • it was made by stupid americans

  • @scooterexy The rig was built in South Korea, dumbass.

  • @supressorgrid

Good on ya........It's never America's fault.....may have been built in Korea....but run, maintianed and blown up by who???

  • ooooooo bp o bp oil oil oil go drill next to your own country o boy youll pay big for this british investments cash in now america owns the british hahahaha assssholes

  • OMG That flamenco dance soundtrack is ANNOYING !!!!!!

  • Texans have played golf on the Moon. what have the brits ever done beside building faulty substandard oil rigs off the US coast that explode and cause environmental disasters. watch the news much daviclond?

  • @beerdrinkingdave Well they founded the USA and beat the ass of other nations so hard in the old days that no one trusts or likes them anymore, look at the eurovision song contest.

  • Troll much?

  • P.S. lmao, youre christian, racist and can't spell. are you looking at a list of texan stereotypes and trying to tick all the boxes or something?

    MUST BE FOREIGNERS ahaha

  • why do idiots come to this video to try to piss me off and bug me? dont they know they are only making fools of themselves by messing with a complete stranger online? jeess.. must be foreigners.....

  • @MudloggingAngel hey! small problem: there is no god. back to your guns and bibles, you inbred hick

  • Thank you Cononfisher. I'll check them out. That soundtrack is great. It just so happens I was a drummer in highschool, concert band, marching band, rock band, etc. I've been looking for a Buddy Rich solo from when he was on the Johnny Carson show in the early seventies. He did a very similar solo (even more incredible) that was like none I have ever heard since. Still looking for that one. Have even called the Carson archive people. Thanks again.

  • the soundtrack is so fucking annoying!

  • привет Гешвадеру!

  • Can anyone tell me what the source is for the drum audio that was put on this video? I would like to find it. Thanks.

  • @RoadwarriorSr

Sounds like the Top Secret Drum Corps, great act!

  • thats pd 638 the old rig they have a new one now

  • you know.. it says alot about a guy who will pick on a working independant women... must not be getting any... poor little boy.. taking his aggressions out on a woman.. damn.. sucks to be him! theres a solution to his problem.. I think Smiling Bob can help him... maybe.... what a shame people go online to pick on someone.. I sure wish he'd try it in person.. I got something that would cure that lil habit... Ever heard of the expression DONT MESS WITH TEXAS?

  • Comment removed

  • @daviclond wow.. another one... jees.. if you dont like Texans.. then dont talk to us ty!

  • @MudloggingAngel are you five years old? what kind of response is that

  • @daviclond because I refuse to argue with a idiot who wants to argue online with a complete stranger....

  • @MudloggingAngel "a idiot" lmao

i think you're always onto a loser as a texan when you try to insult the intelligence of others

  • @daviclond intelligence of others? Come to Texas.. I'll show you intelligence. Your trying to pick a fight with a WOMAN ON YOUTUBE.. get a life. But really, leave me alone.. find someone else to argue with.. My dog has more brains than you.. so be a REAL MAN and quit bugging me.

  • @MudloggingAngel please place emphasis on phrases through word choice and syntax; it looks really obtuse outright capitalising things.

also ok ill go get a trailer and become total trash and ill be a REAL TEXAN MAN HOOAH

  • @daviclond you obviously do not know anything about Texas or our men. and like I said.. quit bugging me, I can afford a trip to kick your butt myself but your probebly one of those who likes that sort of thing. Good Luck , God Bless and leave me the hell alone thank you very much.

  • people who work on drilling rigs not only hafta worry bout things like this but also the dangers of H2S gas as well.. on the well I am on right now, my trailor sits about... 50 - 60 ft away form the rig.. GOD help me get my ass out of here if there is ever a blow out! THANK GOD no one in this perticular incedent was injured!!!

  • i used to work for Halliburton frac crew rough rigger... they have all sorts of things that can kill you. H2S, Nitrogen, (wireless)blasting caps, pressurized lines(can take off like missles), pump trucks, radiation, steam pressure... etc lookout for your self out there, man...

  • I may be a women, but I respect my environment. Besides... the guys out here on the rig.. they keep an eye out for me also.. Ive already been told many times, they consider me one of them. I may "sit in a trailor" BUT.. I am a Mudlogger.. and I do my job well.

  • @MudloggingAngel

you reply to every rig vid there is. STFU already, all you do is sit in a trailer playing with yourself watching all the men work for your paycheck. I've seen it. lol. get back to work

  • Definately a blowout. I work on the rigs personally myself. They rarely happen but when they do they can be dangerous. They use dynamite to forcefully remove the air from the flames, and then use a crane to plug the hole when it has subsided. Its some dangerous stuff, and these boys deserve the pay they get.

  • 1:38-1:47 looks very CooL ^^

  • Incredible! How do you guys do this day after day?

I don't care abut any other tough job I see. You guys take the trophy!

  • i was on this blowout and it's too bad that safteyboss got all the credit.there were many other service companies that were there working to cap the well also.

  • Am I right in assuming they intentionally lit it up so a large cloud of explosive gas wouldn;t start hovering around the countryside? A controlled burn?

  • Maybe they lit it to clear the well head of the rig so they could drop the cap on it? Just guessing myself, I remeber watching an old John Wayne movie about this work.

  • they lite the gas up so that it became safer for everyone involved. when you have gas vapor hanging around like that mixing with O2 and one little spark will cause a more dangerous fire that would have been spread over a greater area which makes a huge problems into a much much bigger problem.

    1. safety of people

    2. safety of environment

3 protecting equipment and company property

I am sure they look at different ways to do it but came out as the this potion was the safest for all involved

  • @tacklebox100 Did you take a kick drilling rat hole? How did you lose control?

  • thats the crap we risk just so someone can fill up with gas and go to the lake for a three day weekend while we work 24 -7

  • that's why you get paid the big bucks

  • stupid music!!!!

  • For a stupid comment.

  • to anyone that thinks this is cool, or fun to watch.... guess what its not... when shit goes wrong in the oil feild usually it happens very fast and someone gets killed.....

  • this wasn't posted for people just to go ooooh ahhhhh. its to show people who havn't even been on a rig or seen something like that get an understanding as to what happens when the sh#t hits the fan

  • whats up with stupid music?

  • Oh that comment makes me laugh! Too bad it was a year too later.

  • @haist82 I know right? An otherwise cool video, ruined by the sounds of the homeless drumming on buckets, SIGH...

  • @haist82 I think It is trying to imitate the music in that scene from "there will be blood", although they did a poor job on that, still awesome video

  • Wow, this is the sort of fun we could have in Pennsylvania soon. I'm so happy we are doing everything we can to bring this industry here.

  • Very eye-opening! Thanks

  • MAN HAS BECOME A FILTHY BEAST

  • so has your mom

  • lol.

  • it must take balls to sit there playing the drums while a gas well blows up!

  • Comment removed

  • how the fuck would you know, you ever work for Nabours

  • why did they fire flares at it ti set it on fire surly they could have saved more stuff i dont get it at all

  • if the gas has H2S (hydrogen sulfide) a deadly gas they burn it to get SO2 (sulphur dioxide) which is more irritating to the eyes and lungs than H2S, painful to stand in SO2 therefore forces you to evacuate

  • thanks for telling me at first i had compleatly forgoten my coment till i rewatched it then i understood so thank you but why cant they build things into a rig to stop or a least catch these gases is it all down to cost or is there no way of catchng it

  • Its called a blow out preventor. However, even those can fail.

  • thanks for responding i get it now

  • Someone ban this person from editing any type of video footage!

  • I AGREE THIS IS FUKD

  • Superb Rudiments.....Wish I could Play like that.....

  • haha. Time to go back to school for you.

  • I really liked the music, what is it?

  • first of all this was a bad day for someone. second the its not supposed to be on fire. third the rig is a sacrifice comparred to the safety of the operation and personel working on site.

  • cool vid gay music

  • WTF waistin all that oil!! *goes insane*

it costs as much as fkin milk now!!!

    *flips out*

  • first of all, it is not oil. they are gas wells (natural gas). Second, they are not wasting it. It is a blowout, they happen when the well gets out of control, many times caused by human error and many times caused by unpredictable occurrences. The "waste" of the gas is not intended, it just happens.

  • yeh nice track with it..

a chainsaw medley.. lol .. could be something in it

  • The tune sounds like someone has learned to play a chain saw. If thats the case f#cking genius!

  • They have to light it to make it less dangerous....I work for a oilfield firefighting company my self and its better to burn off the gas then to just let raw gas flow with to potental of it lighting on fire when we dont want it to.

  • I also work in the oil and gas industry, as a medic and firefighter. The primary reason to ignite the gas is to allow a controlled expendature of the energy in the gas rather than risking the potential of a massive explosion. A rig may be an expensive tool, but it is worth nothing when compared to a life. Not to mention, most energy boards require that you flare more than a certain amount of gas being released, no matter the situation.

  • yea, why in the heck did they light the gas?? thats got to be a couple of million dollars of drilling rig and who knows how much drill string????

  • Whytf did they light it!?

  • can anybody tell me wat soundtrack that is please?

  • nice video like the basssssss with video fucking badasssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

  • GOD LOVES TESTERS

  • hey what song is this i really like it

  • Its a side drum used by the orange order and pipe and flute bands all over the world this peice is 23mins long and is meant to be done by a larger band, it,s called march of the brave.

  • im sure i have herd this drums set done by the marines[britain] am i wright im a x guards man and i dont remember our bands doing it but could be wrong as i often am haha

  • hahahaha i worked on the fort neslon serria for 5 years now and i luvv it

  • i liked the soundtrack, i was in a drumline as a youth, i moved up to fort st. john to work the patch, it's a bit slow right now, but medic jobs are usually a good deal, the lvl 3 class is only about 2 weeks in duration , after you've read the manual, and a typical day for an oil patch medic is watch youtube, and keep the truck running lol.

  • They set it on fire to save the public. Alot of wells being drilled have whats called H2S on em. H2S will kill indiscriminatly. Burning the products on a blowout will create SO2, which is deadly as well, but not near as much, and it dissapates better into the atmosphere. So its either burn the rig down and save the public, or pay the consequences for killing alot of people unnecessarily.

  • thats why we have h2s monitors on at all times. ill tell ya its damn freaky thing when i hear that beep out in the field. drop everything and run!!

  • no doubt.. I was working in McKittrick,Ca this last summer and one of the rigs was tested and came to 68,000 ppm

  • What is with that drumming, cool video though

  • The drumming really is the wrong soundtrack. It does not work.

  • god that music is annoying as HELL cool vid

  • up on the sierra high grade? i worked up there

  • All members of the public, firefighters, and emergency personnel-The `establishment` has failed in their duty to tell you of this.. Google paddyanddollydotnet and read FIREBURN MEDIA ALERT and tell all your friends

  • mmmmmeeeeeennnnnnntttttttaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrr

  • i work in the oil field that don't happen to much

  • bull shit, we usually loose at least two or three a year in west Texas... Paterson 108 just burned down last month...

  • Happens every so often here in SE Texas as well. H&P 99 just finished a devon job that tooks 3 tries to drill successfully. First two they got within 300ft of TD and it blew out, finally got their shit together and completed this last one. Do you work for Patterson or do you work for a service company?

  • My bro works for Patterson in Texas and we both used to work for Grace... Fun times, but I am glad they are behind me... *smile*

  • you texans need to learn about mud weight

  • this was on the sierra road in ft nelson,,,and was a precision rig,,,Ive seen the whole video of this,,,

  • NE British Columbia?

  • Klua, Northeast BC

  • sounds coooold

  • thanks a lot for uploading the vid. Great video! it's very important to understand what was really happened in that field. Makasih, ya!

  • How dangerous working in that field! May God bless people who work in that kind of field!

  • thank you

  • Sorry if it bugged you, but I liked the military precision/ heartbeat/ edginess of a pipe band drum solo, I was there at this event, and the music is what your body was feeling...

  • what company was this?

  • Safety Boss Inc. Calgary, Reddeer Alberta. Fire was around the Andy Baily provincal park by Ft. Nelson northern British Columbia Canada

  • @NorthOlbo

what's the name of the song?

  • that's interesting, but the sound is a little annoying.
