  • Thx

  • Or you play a boast...

  • Who cares how many bounces he took he is showing you technique not playing a match, unbeleivable.

  • Although he does play some shots after the ball has bounced twice, if you look at all of them he does play some that have only bounced once.

  • i like his raquet ! XD

  • @iamjelder10

His racquet is an old Black Knight Titan.

A better, more durable racquet would be the Black Knight 8110 Superlite

  • i like his raguet ! XD

  • oh lol what i just started a while ago but isnt that too many bounces?

  • @narutoshippudenclara Yeah, as soon as the ball hits the ground for the first time after the strike it is not allowed to hit again. I think he was just showing the shot rather than focusing on bounces. Still i would like to see him play that consistantly with one bounce!

  • @EnragedGoat Ya I agree

  • The ball seems to be travelling a long way from the wall. When im playing the ball hits the wall and just drops like a stone. Is it the same technique? Because when i try it, it seems impossible

  • @jimappleyard123 the ball has to be warm, you could try using a bouncier ball...

  • he is no good at all. Squash is about finding your own way of playing rather than some one teaching you how to play it people have different styles.

  • @iammall1 your being ignorant! he's explaining to us how to get the ball out of the corner, not exactly what to do during a rally!

  • at 1:18 when he caught it, i reckon i'd be screaming in pain (i dunno though, never played before)

  • @dvdsmlprstylr nah, it wouldnt hurt at all, the ball is very soft u can catch it, untill it hits you in the back of the leg, then it hurts like fuck!

  • @londontrada yup, i found that out

  • I really don't like this guy.... dunno why. It my be those rediculus sleeves. He just needs a good solid punch in the face.

  • These are loose rails, and he can't handle them, even when he lets them double bounce he still can't handle them. Horrible lol

  • Something else I just noticed - apart from the fact he is not 'digging' is that quite often he is hitting the ball back after the second bounce... I'm not sure about the instructors squash rules, but the ones we play by state that if the ball bounces twice its the opponents point so not very good demonstrations there.

  • This is incomplete the instructor is not showing how to dig a ball out of the corners. As the good Dr. points out a deep shot into the corners will require you to hit the ball from a choke. On a ball which is a bit longer you can hit starting the stroke parallel to the back wall and finishing straight down the rail. Chris Walker probably has a clip which shows how to correctly dig a ball out of the corner...

  • I have been taught a different way to get those tight shots from the back, I choke up my grip so it is further up and gives me a faster wrist then I try and snap my wrist at the ball from low down to hit it back into play. Is this a better way or is it better the way he showed it?

  • dude his drives to "dig outta the corner" are at centre of the court. i cld us go there and call for a stroke if he doesnt move out

  • I think he's letting it double bounce for the purpose of the drill guys... Thought that was a pretty obvious conclusion to draw from this demonstration.

  • wasnt that a double bounce? it hit the ground , than the wall, the the gound again, than u hit the ball with the racket, does that count as a double bounce.??

  • i hate those shots. when it bounces 5cm grrr!

  • Funny how americans think they can coach squash even though they've got about 1 pro in the top 100

  • @pmcphail06 he's allowing 2 bounces since he's just demonstrating it. he's trying to get the perfect demonstration so the viewers can see exactly what he's talking about..... everytime he turns back to the camera saying "that was the perfect one... that's what you have to do...."etc. it only bounces once. this proves he's waiting to show the best example.

  • he looks shit

  • @pmcphail06 training exercice!!!! In any sport, when you are practising, there are moment like this ;s

  • if he's a coach then I don't know, he sucks!!!!

  • @OrangeKewi8 sweep?? this guy is correct, hes just demonstarted it badly, plus hes american so no one understands him, and last time i checked there were more british pros in the top 10 than americans

  • Press the cc button under the video to remove the captions...sorry but not rocket science!

  • Comment removed

  • why do sub-captions completely obscure this and all his videos??

  • He's somewhat got the right idea...not the best demonstration though, considering the inconsistencies there.

  • Fake and gay

  • He reminds me of my son's tennis coach.

  • @mrbobevans take youre son out of tennis and make the lil poon play football, hockey, or soccer

  • @MrRob412 He plays a little soccer. But tennis is an awesome game. Not that expensive and fun. Of course, indoor tennis sucks while outdoor tennis rules.

  • wow double bounce!

  • I wonder if its more difficult to make a instructional video or to just slag the guy off, let me think....hmmm

  • What a load of wank. You can't even see anything with all the text! Thought that one out well.

  • @groethej

Try pressing the CC button and turning off captions...

  • Not sure how this guy is qualified to teach really. His basic technique is wrong, in order to hit a straight length consistently your shoulders need to be facing the side wall straight on. He drags his whole upper body diagonally hence why his lengths are awful and the ball is dragged toward the direction of his shoulders. His swing is to big and high for digging balls out of the back, when it doesn't bounce out so much you need a nice short swing to get really tight balls back. What a noob. :)

  • Thank you :)

  • what if it hits right into the corner and dosnt jump at all?

  • thats all well and good ive been playing for a while now but it dont take no pro 2 c that he is allowing a double bounce before hitting the ball!!!

  • @pmcphail06 I spotted that too.. strange..

  • @pmcphail06 Is that allowed??????

  • @pmcphail06 It really doesn't matter when he's merely demonstrating how to hit the ball off the back wall.

  • @pmcphail06 He does it for the sake of demonstration, once you get used to the shot you`ll just take the ball while it`s in the air. It`s the technique he`s focusing on...

  • @pmcphail06 that's not the point of the video.

  • i play squash almost every day and this is not the best way to show it coz he is giving himself easy layoffs. if u want help send me a message because i play fror my county and train almost every day. i can make the shot the guy is doin come off of the back wall and in the nick infront of the tin where the ball is imposible to hit

  • How do you do that?

  • @xXJGrangeXx wow, you must be really good.

  • this doesnt really help, the actual difficult shots which would be interesting to see him return, like at 0.45 and 1.15 he lets it bounce twice!!! what a dick! he should try fishing

  • ive only been playing a few months now and i take all tips on board. But he is playing himself some of the easiest corner balls ive seen, i want to know about when its truly in the corner is it best to hit on the volley agaisnt the side wall before the ball is in the corner or wait for the bounce.

  • Watch Lee Beachill's video here in youtube...this guy is a joke...the idea is to swing around you... when you are digging deep in the cornersl unge and make sure your shoulders are basically facing the backwall and swing around you... aim high in the front wall...and be ready to defend the next shot..easier said than done

  • Horrible...

  • this is a tennis player with a tennis swing. forget this.

  • This guy is really corrupting minds of squash beginners. One does not dig a ball burried at the back with a high swing. Totally wrong! And the shots he's hitting in the videos are not exemplary of such balls. This guy really has no idea of what he's talking about ....

  • Where did you learn this stuff??

  • A boast, is a defensive shot from the back, but can be agressive from mid-court or at the front. You never shorten,or change your grip on any shot, forehand or backhand. Ever. I agree, he shouldn't be teaching !

  • this video is not helpful at all

  • why would anybody listen to this guy, it is easy to see that he is retarded

  • I think ultimately the best way to prove that these are not really great tips is to look at videos of the world's top 10 (Gaultier, Darwish, Shabana, etc.) and watch to see if they use any of these methods. These are fine tips for beginners but please don't take them as gospel

  • Ok, It's not gospel, but very very very helpull.

    Sergio Ibarra

    Chile

  • down there 5 nights 4-5 days a week :)

  • It's amazing how many experts are right here in the comments section but when we go to the local court they are nowhere to be found.

  • @versanil i help the members of my club . . . alot, you probably dont go looking for help, just ask and they will tell you

  • @the69ryin They are lucky to have you.

  • @versanil this is literally the worst squash player that i have ever seen attempt to give instruction. I beg beginners and amateurs to find a proper video to watch.

  • @BigWilly484

You could start by suggesting one.

  • dig*

  • nooo noo lol this isnt helpful at all

i played for my state this year under 15s and seriously this is shocking help for how to dog a ball out the corner 3 things wrong with that

1- those arent good enough drives to be able to teach how to dig out

2- when they are good u do not point your feet to the back corner

3-you have to give yourself space move back bend your knees and get your racquet in there

im not saying this guy is a hack but he could try a bit harder to at least teach right :)

  • Lots of other squash specific videos all categorized at SquashZAGdotcom

We're like a website, blog, magazine and Facebook rolled into one.

  • I just had two lessons and I really needed this tip!

Great instruction. I hope I can master that shot, because it looks very tricky.

  • I am new to the sport, and hungry for knowledge. This helped a lot. Thanks

  • this guy is trying to help you, maybe what he says isn't 100% right but im sure hes better than a lot of people criticizing him here, if you dont like his style of play..find another video and dont show off like your a squash coach. (unless you are then go for it)

  • I Am !

  • This shot doesen't look like a dig at all. Dig should be played when the ball is in the back corner behind you, not next to you, when you can hardly get to it. Plus your racket should be held back not up, because you don't always have enough time to bring it up.

  • If you listen to the way he hits the ball (in all of these videos) it doesn't sound at all right - as if he is slicing every shot. I dont like to be negative but i think this guy is a very average player.

Send this idiot back to his village.

  • The key to getting the ball out of a back corner, is first-of-all stand away from the ball, bend the knees, swing the raquet, and try get 'under the ball'. You will not have enough room to swing in an wide 'arc' only a downward one.Good Luck!!!

  • 'great shot'"

What the f. is he talking about...

    I'm ranked 100 365th ,and I make a better shot than that

    :)))))))))))))

    what a loser

  • expert village sucks...

  • lmao i got a good laugh out of this. the lesson was basically "if the ball is stuck in the back, let it hit the ground twice and hope your opponent doesnt notice"

  • "you may not be able to hit this great shot..." what a prick..how many times did he hit the ball after it bouced twice??!!!

  • umm.. like 5 times the ball hit the floor twice, what kind of shit lesson is this

  • what a noob. how do these vids have a lot of views. this asshole cant teach.

  • actually guys he is informing basic squash players of how to 'DIG' even though some of the balls are not tight to side or back walls. as you know any advanced player will volley if he suspects the trajectory will cause problems. the idea would be to play a straight shot middle of front wall and to keep this tight so your opponents shots are limited. a defensive boast could be done but it would put you in trouble if your opponent is commanding the T

  • I didin't find this a particularly helpful demonstration. One thing beginners often do is crowd themselves into the corner. You have to tell them to say out and pick the point at which they can make the optimum shot. There are too many issues he doen't address.

  • actually if ur good at boasting and fit (not fkin obese as u do get them in squash) u can have a very effective game especially if ur boast targets the "nick" in the top corner

  • This can work sometimes but as a general rule you are undoubtly much better of if you return the ball straight and deep to the back of the court.

  • First thing people is he's hitting cold balls. Quality shots with a cold ball is near impossible.

This is good advice for basic players.

To me it seems that all low graded players lack 2 things: The ability to hit the ball cleanly & and any idea of where to hit the ball. This is just a pointer on what shots you should be looking to play.

Not every shot is a winner... in fact hardly any of them are.

  • I agree with Mr Stinkin. Mr Stinkin maybe you should post us some videos?

  • lol! Will Do...but im only 4 years old.

  • you either

    1. don't play squash

    2. always hit the ball onto the back wall

    3. always boast

    4. always dig the ball out with no control

i played for 8+ years and i use that shot whenever possible to avoid boasting or hitting the ball through the back wall. unsuspected players thought i can never hit a good shot when the ball is tight, ended up left stranded at the T.

john white was one of the player's on the PSA tour who can hit powerful winning shots from that position using this guy's advice.

  • "this guy's advice" - i mean "similar techniques" - he was never john white's coach - just to clarify

  • I appreciate your comment...BUT...yes I do play squash...your video wasnt displaying a DEEP ball, they were just straight normal rail shots...So. what Im trying to tell you is when a ball is low and your digging it out there is only one shot to hit straight...get as low as possible, open your racket face as much as possible, flick the ball out straight and aim high on the front wall to get enough time to regain the T...your vid is just a straight ball no pressure...

  • After 20 plus years of playing...had a 2 year lay off. It was meaningful to look at this and other of his vids to see 'possible' shots. Some folks, like myself, have to 'see' some of our shots in our head...so, these vids work fine. I don't find these offensive at all.

  • LOL... where do you find these people...

What actually is a little sad, is that he seems to even mean what he's saying.

  • Please don't listen to this complete tit! he's clueless!!!! Use the far more constructive videos available...

  • which ones do you reccomend

  • if ur a begginer and want to learn basics u can look at videos of razik's squash tips but if u know ur squash well enough then my brothers tributes to jansher khan will help u learn alot more. But thats if u pay good attention to what he does.

  • So what? What does that have to do with the lesson that is being imparted in this video?

  • seriously this and and all of his videos are the worst collection of coaching displays i have ever seen. this is what happens when you have someone that doesn't know what the hell they are talking about, thinking they know something .. please don't watch this if you are an aspiring squash player..

  • The videos may not be perfect but I think he knows what he is talking about. And I have found them very useful.

  • none of those balls were small bounces off the back anyway...when it's really low, like said, wrists are your best friends

  • When the ball is so low and so deep you definitely do not have room for any swing; this is when the wrist is used. This is pretty much the only way to dig the ball out of really tough ones, a click strong flick of the wrist with the raquet stretched to reach underneath the ball. Many times all you can do is a boast.

  • The point is that what he is showing works in a lot of cases where people have trouble. It doesn't work in all cases. Maybe he should have pointed that out if it isn't clear.

  • Ok, good video. But I still don't understand how you can get a proper swing in that situation because it's impossible to use the usual circular motion.

Do you have to 'squash' (if you excuse the pun) your stroke into more of a oval shape?

  • he doesnt know what hes talking about, swing more around your body so that your swing compresses and you can still have enough power to flick the ball tight down the wall

  • nice one aussiepunk
