I'm a girl, I think it would do women good to take some tips from women in the 1950's. Not in being a submissive little idiot, but in order to balance our lives. Not be fat lazy slobs who act like men.
@Dreamflyrunaway - If a man works hard and respects her a woman who doesn't at least try to make an effort to give something back in the form of an orderly home etc is selfish and doesn't deserve him. If he''s a pig of course he doesn't deserve anything. It's all about mutual care and love, not worrying about gender roles. Good for the men and women who put gender poltics aside and show some good old fashioned TLC for each other.
so this is Nancy Grace's origin this explains alot, instead of a polite woman who supports womens rights, she's now a psychotic demon who who hates kids and men and is more cold and insane as hitler
allot of old people say women were much happier back then than they are now. Today women act like housework is murder and they always bitch and complain. Sad women have lost their femininity.
@glapenguin I could care less whether you "judge" or not. Its' just your weightless opinion. I suggest you look at the divorce rates in your country, and see how well your "equal progressive views" of women and men are working in marriage today.. Women in the western parts of the world do not address their husbands properly, they have no idea how to act like wives, very immodest and immoral. I know because my wife is foreign and her ethic compared to most american women is very contrasted.
@CreedChrist You're funny. Seriously. So feminism is to blame for divorce, huh? What about all of those politicians who preach what you do- virtue and gender roles- and cheat on their wives with their aides? Did feminism ruin Eliiot Spitzer or Mark Souder's life, or did the men cheating? Treating women like property is what is immoral. Not all women are the same, your wife proves nothing.
@glapenguin I suggest you take a look at the divorce rates when feminism started to boom in the 60s-70s. Compare that to earlier on..Marital abuse has increased too.
@CreedChrist Because of feminism, more women are in the workforce and no longer have to stay in abusive or neglectful marriages for financial reasons, like in the 60s and 70s.
If you're going to blame feminism for intimate partner violence, then you're not just ridiculous, you're an misogynistic idiot. You can keep your anti-womanist ways over there. There's no point arguing with an delusional asshole.
@glapenguin oh please, you loudmouthed woman. Your self-centered unfeminine attitude is the reason why marriage is in such shambles today. I doubt you will ever have a functional family and you will probably give birth to a bastard with no father.
it is just a short film..you can't assume that this is a complete representation of what the 50's was like for most women. Though it was well done and amusing.
That is very well made - a very talented group. I really feel sorry for the women who had to live through the 1950's though, if that is what their lives were like.
There are plenty of women who enjoyed the 50's...this is after all a short film/parody, not representing the entirety of life for women. My grandmother looks on the 50's with fondness compared to what the modern family deals with today.
@mslaboda That would depend on the family, would it not? My grandmother had to have a smile while she pretended my grandfather didn't have depression that caused him to quit his job every six months and move states away. In contrast, my parents have a great partnership. Happiness depends on the people, not the year.
that was exactly my point, there were women who were happy and women who were not. The 1950's was not horrible for all women, just as you said "Happiness depends on the people, not the year."
wow, i forgot about this comment, it was 2 yrs ago!
@SassyJessica Funny video. This poor woman is not cut out to be anyone's wife, housewife, or mother. Gotta feel sorry for that kid and the gal's husband! lol. The thing is that though the advice is given in sarcasm in the video, there is a lot of it that is very good advice for a hardworking homemaker. A lot of these videos (not this one) make it appear the husband has been having a good time all day. Truth is, he and his wife both appeared to have a rough day this day! :)
The perfect woman should be on bed only!

No no, that's not a 50's housewife having a bad day. It's a feminazi trapped in the natural role of a wife. Too bad...

@CreedChrist I'm sorry, femininity is about me liking to do housework? Really?
I am SO okay with not being feminine then.
glapenguin 1 year ago
@glapenguin that is ok. Most western women are horrid and terribly lazy at housework and cooking anyway.
CreedChrist 1 year ago
@CreedChrist Oddly, I'm fairly neat and I love to cook... I just don't see what the basis of my merit as a human being.
See, instead of judging you on whether or not you spit or punch shit and do "manly things," I judge you on your fucked views of gender roles.
