I think the fact that we are talking about this 3 years later proves the point that there is still a vast global misunderstanding of what hip hop and rap has evolved into. There were people saying that Eminem would have been a better choice. He's as much of an artist as Jay Z is. Is it because he's white? Ironically, I did "Wonderwall" for a cover record last year. ;-) I also agree that Jay Z isn't the best rapper, but he used to be amazing, and I really like the way his poetry is moving. I was listening again to "Watch the Throne", and noticed that on "That's My Bit*h", he only did five verses out of about 25 (I'm calling two couplets a verse). By the second verse, he seemed out of breath. The poetry was awesome, though.

The whole point of the opening song 'Wonderwall' for his live performance was to piss off Noel Gallagher for insulting him, and claiming that there is (in Noel's words) "No fucking way" Jay-Z could be the main performance @ Glastonbury 2008, and to be honest he did a great job!!!!!

I grew up listening to rock music, I quite frankly am fed up of it. Rap music is a huge part of my life now and I am glad that even a rapper like Jay Z, who isn't that great in my opinion, has managed to anger a large section of the rock community.
Noel showed no respect to Jay Z and so Jay Z showed no respect back by doing this.

Ironically, I did "Wonderwall" for a cover record last year. ;-) I also agree that Jay Z isn't the best rapper, but he used to be amazing, and I really like the way his poetry is moving. I was listening again to "Watch the Throne", and noticed that on "That's My Bit*h", he only did five verses out of about 25 (I'm calling two couplets a verse). By the second verse, he seemed out of breath. The poetry was awesome, though.
