Of this bunch of Baltimore high school friends, the Mickey Rourke character was probably the most unlikely. C'mon, a bad-ass, womanizing hair-dresser with a gambling addiction??!? And YET, not only is his performance the most riveting, he's the only actor in the group who bothered to do his homework and get a Maryland accent down. The other guys all sound like they're from Long Island.

Mickey is sure gorgeous in this film. I think his first major film. It's really a good film. See it if you haven't and Steve Guttenberg gives a great performance too.A Barry Levenson film.I read he offered Rourke the Cruise role in Rainman and he turned it down.
