This was my dad and stepmom's wedding song. She's been gone 4 years and this song still makes me cry. It's perfect. I think this is one of his best songs, a shame it's so unnoticed.
I think bruce wrote thisin the early 90's,a time which his music went largely unnoticed, but if you dig a little deeper,he wrote some seriously special stuff during this time, book of dreams and wish i were blind are two other examples
This is the one...Listen it...All I know since I found you, I'm happy when I'm in your arms...HAPPY...I'm happy in a love like this...I want more than just a dream to tell...
@supermario103 Thanks for the warm welcome!! I have always heard that Springsteen fans are some of the nicest people around. This has actually also been my experience.. I often find myself laughing at people who enjoy that Disney, Pink Buble gum rock crap (Jonas Bros, Miley) and I feel so thankful I have discovered Springsteen. Half of the 'artists' who receive airplay today will be one hit wonders.. names people won't recall in a few years. But Bruce? his music will be immortal. It is classic
hey foxxyoxxy listen to the promise, incident on 57th street, i wish i were blind, book of dreams if you really wanna go off the edge watch drive all night video, backstreets i remember when i wa where you are right now you got alot of great things coming y our way
I have just heard this song for the first time and it literally brought tears to my eyes. I have only really become a true fan over the past two years and I have only heard a limited number of his songs.. this means I still have a lifetime to discover his amazing music and read deeply into his lyrics, their symbology and meaning, I have never understood how he can capture any emotion, any scenario so immaculately.. it makes you feel. An amazing storyteller and a legend in my eyes.
That's the deep beauty of Springsteen, he has so many faces and depths and places to go in his music, you can be a fan for a decade adn still be 'discovering'. It's wonderful!
TRUE STATEMENT.......THE "DOCTOR" not the "BOSS" he DISLIKE VERY MUCH TO BE CALLED THE BOSS as he very much disliked BOSSES....THE "DOCTOR" IS A LEGEND AND WILL ALWAYS BE.......KEEP ON ROCKING AND BRINGING SONGS LIKE "HAPPY" AND "SAD EYES", " TWO HEARTS",
" DREAM BABY DREAM" AND STREETS OF PHILLADELPHINA. ETC ..LENGEND 4 REAL..WE LOVE YOU DOCTOR .
He's been doing it for 40 years. Happy wasn't deemed good enough for release on a "regular" album. It's on Tracks (1998) 66 that had mostly been withheld, except for a few as B-sides of singles.
He's given away songs that would have been the best songs of anyone else's career. E.G., Because the Night.
The entire, "Born to Run" (1975) and "Darkness on the Edge of Town," (1978) albums are masterpieces. Listen to the album version of "For You" (1973) and then the Hammersmith version (1975).
@CPSJSMSUUMUGA All his albums up to the river are masterpieces, unbelievably crafted with a large band for rock of the 70s. The Wild, The Innocent, and The E Street Shuffle is ridiculously underrated; its by far his most experimental, creative album (incident on 57th street and New York City Serenade)
what an absolute genius! a modern shakespeare. song after song is awesome and has so much meaning and emotion. this has to be my favourite. So beautiful! some people dont' deserve to hear it it is that good!!
What surprises me is that songs such as 'happy', 'sad eyes', 'back in your arms', 'two for the road' got cut. They seem better than much of the stuff that didn't.
em as far as i know it was orignally written for Luckytown but never made it......and was he wrote it when his daughter Jessica was born, in and around 1991 to my knowledge anyway
the older,more beautiful...as the universe. my Bruce.Marketa.cz
