The organization responsible for authenticating works as being 'legitimate' Warhol works is, according to everything I've read, quite corrupt and/or ignorant. They are famous for denying the authenticity of works that were demonstrably approved by Warhol. Of course, it can get a little tricky when many 'legitimate' Warhol works were probably never even touched by him, because of the production processes. Still, this organization seems problematic. What to do?

honestly any artist that does anything other than fine or 'high' art owes a whole lot to andy warhol..whether you dig him or not, he deserves credit for breaking alot of barriers for pop artists

i feel that andy exploited people like edie sedgwick, and i feel that he may have led her to her death but thats just me and i dont hate the guy but hus mind worked in very very stange ways
You're right, sedgwick blew her substantial inheritance in 6 months on Warhols projects and his hangers-on, when the money was gone he had no more use for her. He was a total asshole.
read andy warhol: from a to b and back again. its been awhile since i read it last...i think it's chapter two that's about edie. he calls the girl 'taxi'.
warhol is not responsible for edie's downfall. she did it to herself.
you have to think that in the early days the factory was a place where any misfit could wander around freely. warhol may have been partially responsible for edie's death but he was definitely partially responsible for the attempt to end with his own life. so he wasnt screwing other people's lives up but only acting without thinking of the consequences
warhol..he maybe disliked by some but he is a great artist in my opinion. i look up to him, im a cincinnati artist. people, come to cincy, it has a great art scene
yah he did i was wondering bout em cuz i have the bannana one and the marylin and the martini and the money one and they all have it so i was like huh! lol
Yes allot of Andy Warhol's work was done by others and as there is a authentication board to determine who's work is who's with warhol's work it is unfair because warhol's OK'd the work, even someone else signing some of his work which was OK'd by Warhol.
Same as Salvatore Dali who was known to have signs thousands of virgin lithographs just to cash in advances on work of art that was to come. The process itself was I think the greatest work of art: a statement on fame for fame sake.
a real in depth expose of this dodgy group can be seen on youtube, andy warhol authentication part one to seven. see it before their greedy lawyers bill the "charitable" foundation even more millions to pull it down.
who are the members of this board? why isnt there anyone actually connected with warhol sitting on it? in an inregulated multi billion dollar art market, it seems anyone can be an art historian, including this bunch of clowns.
@Blavat666 Just because YOU don't understand it or can't appreciate it, doesn't mean it isn't art.
Are the foods you dislike not actually food, as well?

Heres the name of the Andy Warhol factory member that is not credited. SUPERDUDE
Superdude is still alive and playing music at nearly 70. He is the person standing right behind Andy in the photo on sonicbids.
It would be nice for him to get some recognition.

That's 6 million bux a soup can. Its art, in a 100 year he will be remembered. You however will never even get 15 minutes of fame.
