Good, I learn it in 2 days with this video, but its too fast! I learn because I have an Ipod so I can see in slow-motion, please, put your next videos with slow motion.
i agree this is the tutorial that got me learning mill mess. the 3 ball 1 round says it all about mill mess . one round is jus a mirror of the current n so on. well done
Thanks a lot. It really helps going through it step by step, begining with one ball, especially for tricks in which the usual "watch whole pattern in slo-mo and try to repeat" doesn't work. This is one of that kind. Sorry for my english=)
Great steps to learn mills mess but I had to keep going back and pausing because it's not slowed down to see which hand is catching and throwing. Still I'm managing to do that fine and I'm mastering the 2 ball steps atm before I move onto the 3 ball steps. Hopefully I'll be doing the mills mess kinda good by next week.
That's a good demonstration! Not to be ungrateful, I point this out a lot whenever I see it. Interlaced video was great for the purpose it was originally designed for: low-quality phosphorous on crt tube tv's. It's really easy to deinterlace video for web with a lot of different video programs. Okay, I clicked "like" for you having to put up with this comment :)
yea the 3 ball one round is the hardest part, I had to train that a longer time but now i,m actually think I've got it, thanks for the awsome turorial anyway :D
Wow! This has been an incredibly effective way of learning Mill's Mess. I found this video yesterday and now I'm up to step 9. Thanks! Step 9 is a bit sloppy right now, but that'll get cleaned up by practicing more.
@shibalover25 So what you have to realize is that this is a 180 degree view of what the juggler (you) will see, but that goes for all juggling videos where the performer is directly facing the camera. What I did was pause the video in the middle of each motion that I didn't understand and tracked each ball to see which hand it landed in.
To get a smooth pattern you have to move your hands a little to the outside after the overhand catch before you throw it back into the pattern.
Maybe this will make it easier for you to throw the first ball of the second round past the last ball of the first round. Because of the seperated practice of "the halfes" you are used to catch the balls after each round. So keep practicing and try to concentrate onto the throw which connects the two turns.
Thanks for the tip. I've been trying for some time now, and I'm getting used to throwing that third ball. And actually I think im doing the Mills Mess right now.. For two or three rounds at least. :)
@ViktorBluhme i learned mills mess by watching videos about 5 years ago, and for me, a slow motion video helped a lot, and simultaneous practice. lots of practice, i had to drop 5000 times before i could finally do it solid.
good tutorial, i think it would help if you showed each step at least twice, perhaps the second time in slow motion. and definitely would help if you used three different colour balls, to make it easier to follow where each ball goes, but apart from that, great.
After all hope was nearly gone, I finally learned Mill's Mess after carefully following the instructions on bogleg (dot) com/jag/mills (dot) html Im so excited!! I am going to make a video of me doing Mill's Mess at 240fps with the high speed feature on my camera.
Kay I can do 3balls first half and 3 balls second half pretty smoothly. But I can't do the actual mills mess, I always have to catch 2 balls in one hand before I can go again. HELP anyone.
after practicing step by step you are used to catch the balls after each round... only way to beat this habit is to keep practicing the whole pattern... may start with 1st half and add 1 throw then catch... add 2 throws... and so on.
i watched it and the pattern is the same. seems not as smooth as it could be.... but he has tons of mills mess variations tutorials... maybe you watched one of these. that could explain why a pattern looks different. the proper one is the 2nd Tutorial.
Definitely a great tutorial. I am both working on my juggling and trying to learn how to teach people better. Breaking it down into small parts is a very good strategy.
Btw the biggest obstacle for me was doing the 2 balls second step. I would keep throwing same ball to same hand.
I got it! I went right to "two balls third step", then "three balls first half", then "three balls second half", then "three balls complete pattern".
The hardest part is putting the whole thing together. It took me a week off and on to get it nice! Maybe I would have done it faster if I didn't skip a step.
But very nicely done, thank you!
Also, use the pause button if you are trying to learn it's very helpful here!
Stein, thanks for posting this. It took me about 2 weeks to learn the 3B cascade (I'm not real coordinated), but between this video and the expertvillage Mills Mess tutorials, I was able to get this in about a week. Of course my form is still a little spastic and it will take a lot more practice to smooth it out to look better, but at least I can keep them in the air (well, most of the time anyway).
Maybe you're trying to rush the process. Practice each step until you get it down pat before you move on to the next stage. If you're still having problems, give it 2 or 3 weeks, practicing every day.Sometimes the brain just needs some time to make new connections between neurons, then one day you suddenly find that you can do it. I find juggling and learning complicated guitar and banjo licks and riffs to be similar; if you plug away at it consistently, the day comes when you can suddenly do it.
Excellent job young man. Best Mills Mess demo I've seen on here yet. Now I understand the pattern; can't do it yet, but I understand the pattern. I hope you share more tricks on here.
i just create vids if i think that there isn't an good instruction on the usual online sources.
When i started with mills mess i hardly found any clear vids... only text instructions and rly short clips. Finally i got it after buying charley dancey's ball encyclopedia.
thx dude was watching for this trick i saw it someone doing but didn't know how to start learning it but now i know ;) btw nice movement of the balls they are flowing
what is the address of Bumfild, the shop wich sells the beanbags??? Please tell me the Bumfild's address because i'll go to Vienna and probably i'll buy the beanbags... they are better than the tennis ball... please give me this piece of information!!! You are the best juggler in vienna
Great job, much better than the fluxusmaximus' tutorial on this trick. I don't know if I'm doin' it properly though, I'm gonna make a juggling video with balls in a few days, so I'd like u to check, if I'm doing it right, could u?
you are left-handed and it's much more harder for me to do what you do beacuse I'm left handed too, and I got used to do the movements as I was looking in a mirror to the videos with right-handed people.
dude your the best... you take it so slow each part i didnt get some parts but it all started to connect when i got to 3 balls thank you so much you helped me out so bad... i think i should change my name i just made it cause its youtube and i didnt care but i want to make vids thanks alot :) juggle pro
I would just like to thank the creator of this video. I was able to learn Mills mess in about 3 hrs after going slowly, piece by piece with this video. AWESOME.
I think it is. I just got false shower going to both ways, and all of a sudden I also "learned" mills mess :P Or at least something very similar, it not the real deal :)
Yes. But I learned false shower after mills mess :) I learned this pattern throw by throw i.e. first a reverse cascade type throw, then an under arm ball over that last ball, then an over the top throw from the other hand as the hands uncross. Just those three throws, then it's repeated with the opposite hands.
I THINK i have it... is there anyway to tell for sure that i'm doing it right? i mean i can do all the three ball steps and stuff but im not sure if once i have the continuous pattern going whether i have it or not...
A good possibilty to judge your own pattern is to record yourself doing it and than check (compare it with other mm vids) the replay or upload the video.
