  • the thought that this song has been dedicated to Paul makes me cry...it's a so cute song!!

  • My favorite version. Thanks for the orchestra George Martin.

  • I wanna cry with this song, really beautifuL wanna cry with this song, really beautiful, George Martin made unos arrangements that come to sadden the heart complement the song making

  • Tunz909 and shittowel After Yesterday McCartney was paniced when Lennon composed great melodies! We all know what Lennon thought about McCartney´s behaviour about Across the Universe and Strawberry Fields. It all ended with the split.

I am always sceptical to McCartney´s statements, they are always clever PR for himself. I suspect that McCartney was afraid that "Grow Old With Me" was too good, too good Melody

  • Siempre sera bella esta cancion

    buen video

    saludos

  • Such a beautiful song and such a beautiful man. God bless you John. R.I.P.

  • probably a song for anniversaries, wedding, funeral etc....... simple yet touching song! very moving!..............GOD BLESS OUR LOVE.....

  • John Lennon; you are never truly gone. We love you.

  • can you imagine how heart breaking it would be for yoko to listen to this now? What an amazing love they shared...

  • This is an amazing song that, if John had more time to work on, could have been very successful.

  • This is such a beautiful song. I love this version, George Martin did a fantastic job with the arrangement...

  • ..che John Lennon fosse bravo non avevo dubbi,ma ora apprezzo maggiormente anche il senso delle sue canzoni.

    Unico.

    Ciao

    Luca Italia

  • I have to admit - never really being a huge John Lennon fan, this video was nicely done and I enjoyed seeing Yoko and John's affection...nice.

  • I love that you made this about John AND Yoko. Not enough people respect how in love they were.

  • Genius; why would anyone won't to end his life?

  • also he had qouted "I'll probably be popped off by some looney" when he was still a beatle... there are evil people out there.

  • not many people know this... and it sounds crazy but it isnt, john knew he was going to die and be shot by someone, dont believe me? this was his last song so look up the lyrics and message is in there he is basically saying goodbye to his wife. R.I.P John !!!

  • This was one difficult song to get out into the public. Thanks for posting. God Bless John and Yoko and their legacy.

  • My mother and father had this song sang at their wedding. It was a beautiful song they told me. I guess before my father proposed to her my mom, John lennon was shot. My dad basically grew up loving the beatles along with my mom. My dad thinks this song was almost like a gift from john to him before he died. I thought that was a true love story.<3 Thank you john for having my parents be with eachother because of you, this song is their song togather.. forever<3(:

  • capyxx04.

  • Listen to hmpfdroop's acoustic version on Youtube !

  • I can understand why the others didn't want to work on this song. Lets be honest It's not one of Lennons best is it? Free as a bird and Real love have a much more timeless quality. People have a habit of sentimentalizing every one of Johns unfinished demos and songs, the fact is this is no where near Beatles standard

  • This is a tough song to listen to - even 30 years. I don't like December 8th anymore. I really miss you, John - R.I.P.

  • I am looking for some sheet music for this song -- for the flute... anyone know where I can find it?

  • I'm glad that john had time to write this song

  • He got the idea for this song from watching a Twilight zone episode which was abou 2 old people who get young bodies, then he learned the inspiration for that episode was from a Robert Browning poem so he looked it up and wrote the song from that. Pretty ridiculous being that he was only 39, but in the end it proved prophetic as he died.

  • I think the bare version from M&H is better. I can't imagine what some added-on Mozart is meant to achieve.

  • i can't IMAGINE he is not here anymore

  • Happy Birthday John

  • my wedding song back in 1985...the original version from milk and honey

  • they were so wonderfully pure in love with each other

  • What a great, great song. One of the inspirations for my own song, "Time to Sleep!" :)

  • VIVA JOHN LENNON.Para mí el mejor, sólo hay que escuchar sus canciones, tienen algo, tienen algo, cuenta algo real, es como si estuviera con nosotros.

  • @VaporWolf980 I couldn't agree with you more. R.I.P, dear man. You are loved and NEVER forgotten. I cry everytime I listen and watch this video. You can see the love they felt for each other.

  • I thought I read somewhere the reason the Threetles didn't work on this song during Beatles Anthology was due to the fact that this Lennon take had already been released officially on the Lennon solo album Milk and Honey in 1984. The other tracks given to them by Yoko didn't quite fall into this category. Real Love had been released for the Imagine movie...but it was an acoustic guitar demo with very different lyrics to the Beatles release. FAAB and Now and Then were only on the bootleg circuit.

  • my future wedding song :D

  • very beautiful....

  • Thanks!

  • This George Martin arrangement changes one of the chords from John's demo - an A4 to a C2 chord (on the word "be"). The change is basically made by having the bass play a C. The Mary Chaplin Carpenter version uses a B minor.

I think this version is best.

  • I love this song just because my second child thinks shes in the midle and she is not inportnant she is very wrong I love her so much you know that my beutifull MICHELLE where ever you are

  • A wonderful Song from the best Songwriter of all Time

    What a beautiful Song.....really

  • Beautiful song. I was so sad when it was over :`)

  • does anybody know which album contains this version?

    thanks for the upload

  • @hmontfort its on the john lennon anthology boxset but that might cos u abit, but its also on the 2cd greatest hits album Working Class Hero: The Definitive Lennon

  • @shittowel thanks! i'll check it out

  • @shittowel it was his last song he wrote

  • @hmontfort it's on Milk and Honey

  • @hmontfort It's also on "Milk And Honey", but it doesn't have orchestra. It's just him and the piano.

  • @hmontfort It's also on the post-mortem album, "Milk And Honey" that was planned to be the follow-up to Double Fantasy.

  • Well he still dissed the tune then...oh well he's entitled to an opinion...George Martin liked it enough to score strings around it, and I love it as well......and so do many other folks.....we all have our likes and dislikes and that's all cool.

  • Paul responded "yea we really didn't like that one"...don't believe it for one second......it's a beautiful tune, and Paul knows it!,,,the only awkward part in the tune I would say IMHO is the bridge, which could have been cleaned up by Paul....of course Martin's string arrangement here is right on track:-).........."Now and Then" is a very weak tune IMHO, NOT this one!!

  • @Tunz909 heres what he said about it ,,(paul said In a New York Times interview, Paul claimed that the group didn't even begin to record the fourth song given to them by Yoko, Grow Old With Me because "John's original demo required too much work" Unfortunately only one Grow Old With Me demo was available; the rest were stolen from Lennon's apartment soon after his death. Interviewed in 1995, McCartney apparently dismissed the song by saying "We're not that keen on that one. i"ll post the link

  • @shittowel paul had this to say about now and then So we did the two that were the two favorites, free as a bird and real love And the idea arose that there was a third track, another song called Now And Then. I don't know, it didn't really have a title [sings: "you know/it's true; it's up to you..."]. That beginning bit's great and then it just goes a bit crummy. We all decided that it's not one of John's greatest songs. I like the beginning, but we'd have to do a hatchet job on it.

  • @shittowel I'm guessing Paul and the rest didn't apreciate the tragic irony

  • @shittowel apparentely George was the one who didn't want to record Grow Old With me, so it was kind of an odd atmosphere in the studio to record it.

Dunno why he didn't want to, but must be why Paul said they "were not that keen on this one"

  • @Tunz909 it won"t let me post the link on here but ive went to your youtube page and i sent u the link on there and it worked

  • @Tunz909 i sent u the link on your youtube home page

  • @Tunz909 so i was a bit mistaken paul didn"t say "yea we really didn"t like that one" but istead he said We're not that keen on that one,i knew he said something like that ,maybe it was just to sad for them to do

  • @Tunz909 I'm glad they didn't work on "Now and Then". I agree that its a weak tune while this one is very good.

  • @Tunz909 Its a beautifull little Mozart aria.

  • abosolutly beautiful

  • Was this song even ATTEMPTED by the 3 remaining Beatles during the Anthology sessions? If so, does a version exist???

  • @metalslut1 i don"t think they attempted it ,it says they did on wiki pedia,, but else where ive read interviews from the 3 remaining beatles during the anthology and in those interviews paul is asked about this track,(he"s asked there was another song u were given called grow old with me but u didn"t finish it why? paul responded yeah we didn"t really like that one, so i don"t think they did attempt work on it ,although they did attempt to work on now and then but gave up cos of a buzz on tape

  • This song used to give me alot of hope and peace, still do but now it allso gets me a little depressed, seeing as I might have what John and Yoko had, sure I'm still young(going on 20) so maybe I'll have a chance in the long run but with all that's going in on these days, who knows..

  • this song makes me cry /: poor john.. rest in peace .

  • y dale con esta cancion, John aupa, tu musica no ha muerto, sigue aqui en mi corazón. Que rabia da ,no te merecías ésto, ni mi padre morir, etc...

  • god bless our love :-) i will missed u the beatles

  • It's a very touching song. Even more so because of the tragic circumstances surrounding John's premature death. But I just wish John had a stronger voice on some of his later solo works. It's like he's afraid to hit the notes just right so sounds a little 'off.', which is something he didn't sound like in the Beatles.

  • you know, i think john lennon knew he was going to die soon, and i think he accepted death because, he never feared it, he saw it as getting out of one car and getting into another, if here is a heavon, lennon im sure your there partying with god.

  • GOD BLESS OUR LOVE

  • got married in 89 and this was sang to an acoustic guitar.

  • thanks!

  • Its so sad that the last song he worked on was called grow old with me poor poor john lennon he clearly didnt want to go anytime soon and the man that killed him should burn fofr what he did. R.I.P. John Lennon 1940-1980 you are greatly missed

  • beautiful slide show thanks for posting

  • THANKS DEAR ANGEL, NICE VIDEO!

    D.

  • A true genius, mr Lennon..

We're missing people like you nowadays, my hero.

  • beautiful pictures :) and a beautiful song.

  • John Lennon had a heart as big as our world. So talented...........taken too soon.

    God bless him.

  • It's like John is still alive..for some reason it feels like that when I listen to the Beatles and his solo material..also when I see his pics from back when he was young..

I was born in the 90's, but I love the 60's..lol

John Lennon will always be the best singer/songwriter of all time.

    - He gave us Peace and Love -

    JOHN WINSTON LENNON ~ 1940 - 1980

  • I would never compare them w/each other.

They were awsome in different ways

God bless them for the music they gave us.

  • very sad they never got to be together at an old age! rest in peace john my friend!

  • Mary Villagrana: amo esta canción porque denota a un sujeto capaz de amar y proyectar ese amor a futuro, como dueño de su destino. Amo eso.

This song -grow old withe me- reflects no only Lennon´s capacity of loving but a capacity to proyect that love to the future, as his destiny owner, the one on control of it. I love that.

  • This IS beautiful. Wow.

  • underbart vackert.

  • so heartbreakingly beautiful!!!

  • Please, think about it again. You hurt Paul. And you are not right.

  • @cenasgay9111 I disagree completely with you. Many of Paul's songs after 1980 are great. In fact, he had a lot of deserving hits after 1980. Sure, they might not be as popular has his earlier works, but they were very good songs in their own right.

  • you can never know

  • @cenasgay9111 I really dissagree i love all of Paul McCartneys songs. I'm a big fan of Paul McCartney x

  • @Serenamcflyfan you may like Paul´s songs, and you´re in your right. But we, who love Lennon, have the right to say that Lennon was unique and wrote from the deepest of his soul and gave us many lovely songs. He was a wonderful human bean withe virtues and defects, like all of us, but he made his part in the world and fought for peace and love in earth. Let´s continue his vision. I love you all. Mary Villagrana

  • excuse me, i correct my self: Lennon was a human being with virtues....

  • @capyxx04 I never said that i didn't like John Lennon. I think he was amazing how he fought for peace and love around the world there should be more people like him in this world. I listen to John lennon all the time i'm hooked on his music. I cant remember what i was dissagreing with now but i see a lot of horrible comments about Paul on youtube and i was just saying i dont aggree with all this comparing and aggression about them two. They are both amazing in my eyes but in different ways.

  • quiero ver tu sonrisa por el resto de mis días, quiero que nos hagamos viejos juntos :)

  • :) <3 :) ...Acepto! jeje te amo!!!

  • Love this song. I had this song sung at my wedding. Beautiful tune and the lyrics are perfect for a wedding service.

  • words

    are

    golds

  • this song is saddly ironic.

  • great song!

  • One of the greatest songs of all time. A truly wonderful song which brings back many memories of peaceful times. John Lennon is always going to be the greatest musician of all in my book.

This song was one of his last, as I recall. A perfect song to play to your special loved ones.

  • Just beautiful, RIP John

    Peace ^_^ ZenLay

  • 29 years today... genius, love him

  • I remember hearing the Mary Chapin version on the radio in '96. The disc-jockey said afterwards, "It's hard to believe that someone married to Yoko Ono wrote that song."

  • Comment removed

  • i cant believe he died, he was the only beatle that really got into me and changed my way of thinking

thank you very much John. RIP

  • I hope I grow alongside my very own yoko

  • During with the Beatles, I think Yoko was one of the most hated people. But after John's death, I cannot help but feel so fricken bad for her. I am sure George was right about not doing this song but at the same time it feels like it offended her when all she wants is John's unfinish music to shine brighter! Great song! Brings tears to my eyes!

  • @Trevornator why did people hate her?

  • Because when the Beatles were together, and after John became very close to Yoko, he brought her into the recording studios everyday breaking his rule of not allowed having wives in the recording studio. To keep the story shorter, the other beatles feel very uncomfortable with her around. But people dont realized that they were already drifting apart. I think when after their manager died, they started to fall apart from there.

  • Absolutely beautiful.

  • tears drop out my eyes,

    thanks a lot.

    JOHN

  • Thankyou ;)

  • My sweet, cool, cheeky, funny, hip, dazzling, sparkling, happy, constant, faithful, caring, tolerant, loving, fabulous, intelligent, witty, crazy, fluffy, perky, saucy, sassy, fresh, impossible, adorable, comfortable, secure, ambitious, sympathetic, endearing, positive, angelic, wicked, girl, lady wife, who gave me the best 40 years of my life, loved this song. • Thanks Dear for sharing this with me... I fall in love again, and looking forward on it... "Spending our lives together, Love without end....God Bless our Love"

  • Thank you so much for posting this very beautiful song in the web, sooo suited for weddings..... and about John and Yoko, I have almost imagined how deeply they love one onother....

  • This song was on his 'Milk And Honey' album from the early 80's.

  • Lala, kalau kau baca ini ... Aku mencintaimu sejak pertama kali kugenggam tanganmu 20 th yang lalu, dan meskipun banyak kisah sedih diantara kita, camkanlah bahwa aku kan selalu mencintaimu. QQ

  • they really and truly loved one another and that is beautiful. John was given the best gift he could have been given during his lifetime. Beautiful.

  • just listen the song, idiots, your coments is irrelevant stupid things

  • I don't listen to the radio much, but does anyone ever play this? It's just a demo, some people are saying John recorded it at home in his bathroom to get the acoustics, but it's one of the most beautiful songs ever written.

  • John Lennon .....We Never Forget You ...

    You Are The Legend

    1940 - 1980

    R . I . P .

I Love You Forever ( John Lennon )

  • i want to grow old with gadiz

    hehehe

    muahh sayang

    iloveyou

  • wat an idiot u are, all i can say is, if the description is lying then so is the book that comes with the john lennon anthology boxset and if it was fan made it would not have been included in an offical lennon boxset would it u arse!, i think u need to get your facts right b4 u start talking out your arse, jeff lynn only produced free as a bird and real love back in 94 and 95,he had nothing to do with this track

  • is that all u can say,its cos u know ur wrong

  • your 21 eh more like 6

  • how can you fight for such a peaceful song?

relax, stop fighting for every stupid cause on every stupid video on youtube

  • so i sit and cry................

  • I want my husband to be to sing this to me at our wedding. Just beautiful!

  • This was the song my husband and I danced to at our wedding. I'd wanted it since I was a little girl. :)

  • to my wife of 13 great years

  • from: Me

    To: You

I love you Francisco Alcántara. Te amo, Te amo, Te amo, ....

  • " Whatever Fate Decrees "

God Bless Ya John my working class hero R.I.P Rock In Peace xx

  • Where did you hear that George wasn't comfortable using this track? I had heard that the quality of Lennon's vocal on the tape Yoko gave them was so poor that it would have taken too much effort to bring up to spec, and that that's why they didn't use it. I'm not disagreeing, I'd just like to learn some more about what happened, because this is a fantastic song.

  • The quality of "Now and Then" was too poor to work with. They gave up on it back when they were working on "Real Love" and "Free as a Bird".

  • Outstanding song.

  • Best version ever.

    Beautiful.

  • Despite the countless comments about his caustic tongue and rapier like wit (that could cut you to shreds), one has to believe that John had a heart of gold and the tough exterior was little more than a suit of armour.

  • This is a beautiful version. I didn't know that George Martin had produced it; that certainly explains it.

  • great video and song!

  • bitter sweet is not the right word.

  • I love their love. It is so bitter-sweet they did not have the chance to grow old togheter
