Great tour, Dub! A wonderful introduction to the great shops (at least for our crowd!) in your neck of the woods. Thank you very much for the time and effort in making these fine presentations.
well crow, I know many people are too married or too employed to make such a visit, so that's why it's nice to see these video's so you get a good idea of the place...glad you enjoyed the vid.
i love amsterdam.every time i go i check out the cigar shops there and the prices are much lower than many parts of europe specially uk where they screw u with taxes on tobacco and alcohol!
Sweden's policy is frankly bizarre and counter productive in actually dealing with alcohol as a social or health problem. IMO. Both these shops are open on Sundays. In general alcohol is very cheap here in shops and supermarkets. You can buy a 1.5L of Scotch for €24! Or a crate of 24 beers for €12.
@dubinthedam: Oh, I agree! The general consensus is that we swedes can't handle alcohol if the monopoly was dropped. We would drink ourselves to death in a month. I was really embarresed once when I met this english bloke in the street one sunday. He was invited to dinner with friends and wanted to bring a bottle of wine and asked me where he could buy one. I had to tell him he was sh*t out of luck.
do they sell dutch master cigars and lucky strikes?

How much is tax on tobacco in Amsterdam?
fat862 2 years ago
Tax in the Dam is lower than most EEC countries, retail price is €7-8 for a 50 grm pouch, €10-12 for a 50grm tin.
The UK is about €15-18, Sweden/Norway about €20-25 for a 50grm tin, Spain and Switzerland are some of the cheapest at around €8 for a tin.

I'm stunned! Shops like that don't exist in Sweden. ALL liquer, wine and beer has to be sold in special, government owned shops... closed on sundays.
Very good series, Dub!
Cheers,
Mike
