I just got an Iphone and stumbled upon this app in my second day. I think my expectations are going to be a little high. None of the other apps I have downloaded compare to this. This app is simply amazing and I have a feeling its barely tapped into its potential.
a few years ago a couple went out to dinner. later that night the babysitter called and asked if she could put a sheet over the clown statue in the kids bedroom. the father said "get the kids out of the house and I'll call the police. we don't own a clown statue." it turned out that the clown was a murderer escaped from jail. if you don't repost this message on 10 videos the clown will be in your bedroom tonight at 3am with a chainsaw
Wow, Its a fx processor with some digital delay, reverb, oscillators and some chorus. BIG DEAL! Why would someone pay $3 to put this on a phone? This guy obviously has never seen a VST instrument. Welcome to the digital world newb.
Haha wow dude get a life this is really cool and definately worth 3 dollors. And this guy knows wayyyy more about the digital world than you will ever know in your life.
I need to point out something this program DOES NOT MAKE MUSIC IT JUST MAKES NOISES OR AT BEST SOUNDS and to be honest if you have a developed music ear is just anoying ,MUSIC is logical sequence of melody and harmony if is a good composition transmits emotions,This this hahahah is chaotic noise that after 5 minutes will give you a headache

such a shame, in his thirties and playing games on computers instead of being a hard working man like me and actually making a living, chris somewhere down the road I failed you son. once again its time to grow up. heres the funny thing Im a 20 yr old guy telling a 30 yr old man how to live his life. hes that pathetic
Except he makes bank, has been on G4 for a while and does weekly CNN videos. Right, pathetic. You're some twenty year old commenting on youtube instead of actually working. I'm a kid and I'm smarter than you.
back of dzismer18. he has makes a living just to tell you. so sthu about "making a living". isn't it common sense that he does have a living? how do you think he can still live for all these years without money? dumbass
it's cool, but I don't think it worth the 3 bucks... in my opinion, if you guys think otherwise, I'm goo with that... but I can't justify getting an app like that for anything more than $1.00...
hey, $2.00 isn't much, but still, as far as the value goes, I don't think it's too worth it...
proved you wrong, Chris... I just had to say that...
This is pretty simple compositionally, but it is a really good idea.
I've always thought that things like this will be the future of music. Instead of albums of pre-recorded music, composers will write programs that dynamically compose, based on a set of rules.
Recording things live is something I hadn't thought of in this context, though I have done it at live performances.
lol. of course it will. Just like drum machines, synthesizers, rock guitars, jazz, recording technology and equal temperament all destroyed music. They didn't expand the vibrancy of musical culture at all.

You don't have to have a software that can pass a turing test to use random variables within a limited set of parameters which are predetermined by a programmer.
I didn't ever say that artificial intelligence will compose on your iphone for you, using the intelligence of a human being (which, by the way, is what a turing test is supposed to test for).
"You don't have to have a software that can pass a turing test to use random variables within a limited set of parameters which are predetermined by a programmer."
That's not what I'm arguing.

lol. of course it will. Just like drum machines, synthesizers, rock guitars, jazz, recording technology and equal temperament all destroyed music. They didn't expand the vibrancy of musical culture at all.

"of course it will. Just like drum machines, synthesizers, rock guitars, jazz, recording technology and equal temperament all destroyed music."
Except that those are all still created by people.
Just listening to this dynamic generation shows that there is no direction, no goal, no point, no feeling or expression in it.
It's just blind fumbling.
While there are good mathematically constructed pieces of music, there's a difference between those and dynamically generated sounds.
Nigrescence 3 years ago
Furthermore, we can't even get programs to pass a Turing test, which is simpler and only language-based. Not even language-based, it is merely based on simple comprehension.

You're being close-minded, and I dare say stupid.
To believe that a satisfying composition can only be made by the direct and deliberate hand of a human is naive and ignorant.

I will say this with confidence:
The only way it won't happen is if we go extinct before we have the chance.
I am as certain about it as I can be. Look how much Chris loves this limited version.
Even if you could just program subtle variations into a pop song so that it is fresh each time you listen to it, why wouldn't people be interested in that technology?
And what physical law, or technological limitation will prevent this from happening?

There is no evidence that full sentient conciousness (which isn't even proven with a Turing test), is required for making good music (especially since "good" is subjective).
