chase scene music -- Dance of the Comedians by Smetana (Bartered Bride). Underrated adaptation of a classical piece for cartoons. Up there with What's Opera, Doc and Rabbit of Seville.
Contrary to popular belief, these cartoons were not intended for kids of the day. They were drawn out for adults to get a good laugh. In the 60's and 70's they were shown on television for kids and the trend continued making cartoons solely for kids, so the original intention of cartoons transferred age groups as the decades passed. They're still classics and much better than the cheap garbage they call cartoons nowadays.
@shazie1436 He is sort of Nelson-like but he's actually meant to be a caricature of an actor named Harold Peary who played a character named Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve (or the Great Gildersleeve) on a popular radio program from this period.
@MatthewtheY I thought he was supposed to be a characture of Vincent Price?

This was, in fact, released in August 1945- just a few days before "V-J Day" (the Japanese surrendered), and the end of the war.

@m2k911 I feel bad for whatever generation you're in if that's how you normally spell. Actually, I weep for the Internet generation all together.

When Bugs and the store manager arrive at the 6th floor on the elevator, the items Bugs mentioned were all rationed during World War II.
