Most deer turn black or very dark brown when fall comes around here in Canada!

The deer seem to take the same colors of nature.

Light brown or rust color to match wheat and older grasses then get darker to match tree bark and swamp like conditions!

In NJ there are deer that look like cows, oh, and really black ones also. The black and white cow appearance is due to the reduction of fight or flight response which is moving the species towards domestication in some popualations.. This is how we ended up with the domestic dog and farm animals.
