  • The camera angle for General Ripper is positively phallic, n'est-ce pas?

  • Interesting camera angle or General Ripper. The cigar is positively phallic.

  • best thing about this movies is that dude that cant stop eating bubblegum

  • 2:33 "Women sense my power and they seek the live Essence. I don't avoid women Mandrake, but I do deny them my Essence."

  • And yet another international masterpiece denied to the general public by copyright pimps.

  • These are probably some of the most inspiring words I have ever heard...

    GENERAL RIPPER FOR PRESIDENT!!! haha

  • @krll98 …or even the 60s….

  • Possibly the greatest intakes of breath in cinematic history. And the greatest acting….

  • It's incredibly obvious isn't it. Like Chomsky, Kubrick must have been a NWO double agent, presenting himself as this satirist/critic of American foreign policy with this film, yet dropping this image of the 'conspiracy crackpot' into his work.

This is pretty much propaganda, that slyly undermines the Jim Corr's/Alex Jones's of this world (and their theories of NWO population control through the addition of chemicals in the water supply.)

    Kubrick had some cheek.

  • @roryphelan Fluoride is added to water supplies. It was developed and put to use in WWII. Alex Jones is a shill, period. The people that follow and commit to his agenda are being added to the data bank of the NSA.

  • @wikkid61 That last comment was my attempt at humour.

What is Alex Jones's agenda? To make lotza moolah?

  • General Jack Ripper for president!!!

  • The Communist are Zionist/Khazarian. Infiltrate through covert means.

  • @wikkid61

Stop zionist plot israel destruction is option alpha!

  • @wikkid61

Yes, a pseudo-political movement based off of biblical interpretations is the hand behind an actual political movement that refuses to permit any religion or other authority apart from the State. Brilliant deduction!

  • @Sylderon Hey, we have a politician/speech writer in the making.

  • @wikkid61

I'm sorry, just what exactly is that supposed to mean? I'm afraid that I couldn't be a politician; too stubborn, too much common sense.

  • @Sylderon Your prior rebuttal. All the earmarks of a apolitical or a post grad.

  • @wikkid61

How do you say that? First of all, apolitical is an adjective, not a noun. Secondly, I'm not a graduate student, I'm a machinist, but common sense isn't necessarily something taught in a university anyways.

  • I find it hilarious that, in the end, Ripper did all of that just 'cause he had problems in bed, lol.

    Freud was right!

  • @tecaltabiano NO!

    freud is friggin crazy

  • best movie ever

  • Sterling Hayden .... Brilliant!

  • Ladies and gentlemen, the head of the John Birch Society.

  • When Stanley Kubrick released Dr. Strangelove, it was meant to imply the dangers of keeping trigger happy John Birch Society quoting army relics in the midst of Cold War era diplomacy. However satire still requires some truth in order to be believable, and General Jack D. Ripper paraphrasing Georges Benjamin Clemenceau's famous quote as "War is too important to be left to politicians", does prophetically predict the policy governments would enact toward future warfare as hostages to pacifism.

  • The seed is life and spilling the seed is death.

  • I, I do deny them my essence.

    Yes, eh, heh heh

  • HEY, WHAT ABOUT MAJOR KONG?!!!

  • @phambo101 MONKEY FACED??? ah well good thing that you're not racist, otherwise your neoAynRandian sexless beliefs would spread. Pathetic John Birching, Tax hoarding, compassionles, WWJD-spewing aryan, buffoons. Go vote for Rand Paul or Bachman, one of the other assclowns at Nigger Head...

  • @leesvideopage

They wont get anywhere. FOLLOW ME. I WILL LEAD YOU. FOLLOW...

  • If this great nation of ours is filled with more guys like Gen. Ripper, we wouldn't have much problems with what that monkey-faced Obama is doing!!! NO MORE FOUR YEARS!!!

  • @phambo101 VERY TRUE.

  • Hilarious

  • What's amazing about this movie is that all the characters seem...real, in a way, like a twisted documentary. It's frightening, sad, and incredibly funny. All the qualities of a great dark comedy.

  • So, that was what all of this was about, Jack?

You can't get it up, so you blame the Commies?

  • 11 people, bought and love their Commie Purita water filter....

  • Few actors were as fearsome as Hayden was in his heyday. Seeing him with a cigar made him all the more of a threat....

  • Anyone could've made this performance cheesy as hell but Hayden says this monolouge and he sounds dead serious.

And you can't help but laugh at that...

  • What's crazy is there are still people who agree with Ripper on the fluoride issue. Fluoridation of drinking water prevents tooth decay, but is still controversial. Mostly the opposition is concerned about health risks, but there are still people who think it's a conspiracy to control minds.

  • @83croissant Did Ripper ever say it was a conspiracy to control minds?

  • @spfccsmft Ripper's views are satire of the conspiracy theories of the time, that communists were behind water fluoridation and the polio vaccine and were either trying to weaken our minds and bodies or outright kill us. Ripper doesn't say mind control, but he's very worried about it sapping and impurifying our precious bodily fluids-- maybe he's talking about sterility.

  • @83croissant Yep. It's a metaphor for aggression as "compromising" for a perceived lack of masculinity.

  • And Viagra saves the world...

  • In a previous post I thought "Strangelove" was based on Kissinger, who came to prominence under Tricky Dick Nixon in '68, over three years after the movie was released. As for Sterling Hayden, he portrayed one scary nightmarish general. Another great casting was Gregory Peck as Capt Ahab in "Moby Dick", '56, directed by John Huston. One scene with him overlooking his crew with his facial hair and pegleg was one despotic tyrant over his crew. His nose completed the visage.

  • It's very possible that every war since Troy was started because some guy had problems in the sack.

  • @phemyda94 Possibly true, although it doesn't sound like Gen. Ripper has any problems other than that he had no idea what was going on!

  • Glenn Becks Dad.

  • Neither the time nor the inclination huh?

I can see a scene that was inspired by this brilliant one :)

  • You know something is wrong when humanity dies because one man's willy doesn't work.

  • This STILL asks the question: "Do you really know what's in our drinking water?" I love the camera angle. What's in Ripper's cigar? Mandrake's response is one of total disbelief, as he shelves his true thoughts -- he also just goes along with Ripper (knowing full-well the General is insane). It's kinda like this every four years, when we vote.

  • One of my favorite all time movies...Hayden from that angle makes him one of the most fearsome characters in film! Sellers wanted to play four roles instead of three. I shared a rented house in San Diego in 1965 with a former USAF B-52 navigator and he was astounded as to the cockpit details in the movie. Sellers in a wheelchair stole the show..was he supposed to be a young Kissinger, Nixon's Sec of State?

  • @MBDmediaman No, Kissinger came much later. He is supposed to be a hybrid of the guy who came up with nuclear deterrence theory and a Nazi scientist that worked for the US's nuclear program.

  • Great camera angle. Some of the best movie dialog -- ever. Kubrick is a genius. I wonder what Joe McCarthy and J. Edgar Hoover would have thought of this flick?

  • All we need to do today is just change a few words around. First we subsitute "Communism" for "Muslim" and "Taliban" and now it really makes sense for the 21st century imaginary enemy.

  • @Diogenes1360 Tell the 3000 dead and their families the taliban are imaginary.

  • @chuck3668831 . . . and the U.S. government is always Right in telling the truth to the Amercian people . . DEAL!

  • @Diogenes1360 Better at it than fascist middle easterners

  • chemtrails! ha, aha, ha, ha!!!

  • The Communist part was/is real. The fluoride in water is real also.

  • 10 people have lost their precious bodily fluids.

  • Comment removed

  • Thumbs up if you got here from the article about Nazi anti-tobacco research.

  • "Haha...yes yes."

    *thinking*: "You're fucking crazy"

  • see water fluoridation on wikipedia

  • sick bastard typical american military man

  • @graciemaemarie11 Wrong-o. He was hitting the nail on the head.

  • Kubrick perfectly encompasses the attitude of the parasitic, vultures in the Military-industrial-complex here.

  • bodily fluids? this is insane

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • funny but he sounds just like the insane right wing Xtain nutjobs in charge of the current edition of the US Dept of War...they will destroy this planet soon enough if given the chance

  • look up leaked white house video or click this username. similar tone. enjoy

  • they missed the scene where they read out the phone call transcript

  • Comment removed

  • Who disliked it? Why watch it if u don't like Dr Strangelove? I am confused

  • 10 people are going to have to answer to the Coca Cola company.

  • "Where's General Ripper?"

"He's Killed himself in the bathroom."

  • One of the best moments in movie history.

  • syphilis kills

  • 10 people have impure bodily fluids

  • @woodskier also your mom's pretty good after the third drink

  • Lemay was OK after the third drink

  • This is just how crazy our leaders are. Bush was literally so fucking dumb and crazy he should have been in this movie. Obama is smart and evil. This country is crazy.

  • @heartfire451 I agree, it's time for another revolution.

  • @heartfire451 For deposing a bloody dictator, Saddam Hussein, the only living world leader to deploy poisonous gas both in war and on his own countrymen, and afterwards establishing a democracy in the heart of Islam? And you call Bush crazy? What do you call sane? Allowing the protesters in Iran and Syria to be cut down by soldiers and secret police with little more than a mention? That's sane? Perhaps you call it peace in our times...

  • @mu99ins For invading a country they themselves have armed, twice, without UN consent, on false pretenses, and with no idea how to handle the aftermath, for financial and political gain. That's why we call the Bush family crazy. "Establishing a democracy in the heart of Islam"... I sense a certain aversion towards other religions LUCKILY YOU INTERPRETED THESE FEELINGS CORRECTLY.

  • @Metamusik I agree the U.S. helped to armed Hussein & his criminal org which owned Iraq and brutally exploited the people of Iraq. The U.S. has to take some of the blame for Hussein, and so the responsibility falls on the U.S.to oust him. EZ to say Bush should've planned the aftermath, but in the chaos of war, the best plans quickly morph to improvisation. Establishing a democracy in the heart of Islam is not quick 'n' easy. How many democracies are there in the Middle East?

  • @Metamusik

Oh ffs give it up. We were fighting the Germans once, situations change.

  • @TheodorePike Your point being? U.S. grudging support of the allies during WWII makes the Bush-family OK... how? You do know that senator Prescott Bush aided the Nazis for profit, right? That the Bush-fortune that put little George Jr. into power is built in no small part on the proverbial Nazi gold? Or is your point rather that we should just forget it ever happened and move on... to the next War? That kind of nonchalant attitude is what lets warmongering take root and fester, enough said.

  • @Metamusik

What happened at the end of the Iraq invasion was a mess, and lessons will have been learnt from it. Otherwise it was a complete success with the removal of a bloody dictator who may or may not have gone on to be a bigger problem in the future. I fully supported the war, and I will certainly support military action against Iran to stop them buildnig nuclear weapons. Better to deal with these threats now, rather than later.

  • They based General Jack Ripper on General Curtis Le May, who apparently was registered as "psychotic" in some intelligence reports. Some say he wanted to provoke the Soviet Union in any way possible to get "justification" to attack them.

Some president was afraid Le May would actually override the authority of the president to attack. Probably Kennedy.

Anyways. Brilliant acting by Sterling Hayden (and the rest of the cast).

  • @McLarenMercedes "Some president was afraid Le May would actually override the authority of the president to attack. Probably Kennedy." True - and that's why LeMay helped kill Kennedy.

  • @noobcrusher141 Why is it you reactionary crazies cant get it through your thick skulls that, 1) Europe is not purely Socialist, they have Parliamentary Democracies with many parties, and 2)Nazi Germany was not Socialist in the sense that Marx, Engels, Che, or others were Socialist. Hitler named his party the National Socialist German Workers Party to attract left wing radicals. He purged them after he took power!

Just thought you might like some facts to go with your misinformation...

  • Mandrake's face at the very end; listening to a madman is making him about to go mad himself.

  • after 2:10, you realize why he always sucks that big cigar

  • @EpicBeard815 That was kinda character killing right there you asshole... but LOLOLOLOLOL XD

  • 10 women have been denied of the life essence...

  • OK this may sound weird but...anyone else get here from Dr.Blunderheist's Diablo 2 account?

  • Best bit in the whole film, LOVE Sellers' reaction...like...ah...you're a nut! Oh, shit...

  • Women sense my power, and they seek my life essence. I do not avoid women, but I do deny them my essence.

  • @Diogenes1360 I love Mandrake's reaction after Gen. Ripper delivers that line. He realizes that Ripper really is nuts, and he is trying so hard to maintain his sanity in the face of such insanity.

  • Along with the killing, paths of glory, the shining and full metal jacket.A kubrick masterpiece!

  • Flouridisation has been conclusively proven to lead to a loss of IQ.

America is one of the most flouridised nations on Earth.

That's why most Americans are dumb enough to take this at face value. :)

  • Is he talking about communists analy raping men to corrupt their semen so it kills them?

  • @LegoStarWarsGuy He thinks fluoridation is a communist plot to sap us of our precious bodily fluids.

  • I still can't watch it without laughing when he brings up the precious bodily fluids.

  • @HaveAGingerAle Same here, I've watched it countless times over the years, and it still does the trick. I think it's because Sterling Hayden's performance is so good and serious, it makes it doubly ridiculous.

  • General Ripper is the man we need today to properly deal with

the multitude of Islamic Terrorist SCUM that plagues this world.

NOT that inept idiot in the White house, Barry Obonga.

  • @pastorg22 This is why we really need a global "Sarcasm" font.

  • Now what about the 10-to-1 women-to-men ratio? Then you go and make a...(rubs hands together and shifts out fingers) sexy time.

  • =I don't have Stockholm Syndrome, I'm just from Sveeden sometimes, and given the amount of you who think you cannot be seen, I've come to agree with blowing you all up=

    - Captain Henbane

  • What a great performance. I love the slow burn as you realize this guy goes from military crazy, to McCarthyite crazy, to totally batsh*t insane crazy.

  • 10 people don't like this?

    communists

  • @noobcrusher141 Go back to Nazi Germany.

  • Don't mess with my precious bodily fluids!

  • ive never wanted to smoke cigar so much in my life

  • Sterling Hayden was awesome. He had a remarkable life story as well.

  • The lighting!!!

From the opening shot of the radar dish reflecting moon light, shot at night, perfect lens and light.

  • Glenn Beck bases himself on this character.

  • The code prefix is OPE just tuck that away you never know when you might need it.

  • A truly ingenious film!

  • Berlusconi should watch this....Perche no?

  • A profound sense of fatigue...

  • We need this General as president now. "Take a look a look of what we have in the White House. Instead of someone like Patton, we have patent leather. We can thank the commies backed by the useful idiots for the wussie in the White house.

  • Lookup Curtis Lemay.

  • this is like every conspiracy theorist

i got the idea to see this after reading the david icke forum

  • aww, you didn't have my favorite Ripper quote

" Why, there are studies underway to fluoridate salt, flour, fruit juices, soup, sugar, milk, ice cream? Ice cream, Mandrake? Children's ice cream!..."

  • @Nelsonhojax15 How would you flouridate salt? lol

  • the best freak comedy scene i have seen

  • This guy must be Glen Beck's father.

  • @Congest unlikely, seeing as he denies women his purity of essence....

  • @Congest Not necessarily. But I bet Beck doesn't see this as satire.

  • @Congest awesome

  • @Congest Glenn Beak wouldn't make a patch on Hayden's ass

  • @Congest because Glen hates communism? Ripper hates Communism. I hate communism....Do you like Communism?

  • @jdmifsud14 No, because he's a paranoid lunatic, just like Glenn Beck.

  • @VanDoodah I don't think you answered my question correctly. Forget about Glenn Beck and ask yourself the question: "Do I like communism?"

  • @VanDoodah I don't think you answered my question correctly. Forget about Glenn Beck and ask yourself the question: "Do I like communism?"

  • @jdmifsud14 Please, Forgive my interruption, But to the question you asked. There are aspects of communism that i may like. However the major problem with communism is it does not take into account the human urge to abuse power. So while it may have merits in theory ( hence the reason why so many people were/are for it ) in practice tho it tends to be open for abuse. Just my thoughts on that subject.

  • @HowlsFury very correct. In my Global History class my teacher explained that On a paper document, Communism is beautiful and better than Capitalism. But when you take Communism in to actual practice, it just doesn't work. so you are correct about that! look what happened to the USSR they couldn't continue, so they collapsed.

  • @jdmifsud14 Keep China in mind tho, Since they are A capitalistic Communist country ( Odd combo ). They have the economic Flexibility to survive where the USSR didn't. Now to be honest I am not much for capitalism Either, To me it is a very predatory economic system. Right now i am leaning to Democratic socialism, However i admit to much ignorance on economic and governmental studies so i am keeping an open mind.

  • @HowlsFury I'm not a big fan of socialism however, I am open to Socialism in terms of medical treatment but that's probably the only thing I like about Socialism. otherwise, I prefer capitalism although it does have it's flaws. I'm actually interested in Mercantilism, I wonder what the USA would be if they went with that instead of capitalism.

  • @jdmifsud14 I don't think Democratic socialism is the best forum of government, However it would allow the USA to rebuild its infrastructure and middle class. Because right now the imperial plutonomy the USA is turning into will collapse like all empires do. That is A whole other subject tho haha. From what i know about Mercantilism, it does not seem very stable to me. too much control in the hands of those who are too easily bought.

  • @HowlsFury You'll always have a predatory system when there are humans around. But you want the system that benefits all and increases living standards, a system that is realistic to supply and demand and won't starve a whole nation under the guise of "being" fair.

You can try to stop the predatory nature of man with government action, but in the end all that will do is include the government into the predatory actions, which leads to far worse consequences.

  • @HowlsFury

After surviving years under communism/socialism I am vouching for this: There are no parts of these systems that a normal, warm blooded American should in any way admire or "like". Period!

You two may have some wondering to do before onset of adulthood but I would advise U to not implement any of their ideas becasue they will swallow U and than spit U out as broken man.

Everything that came out of Marx was a lie.

  • @Congest So I wasnt the only one that thought that haha

  • @Congest There was actually a guy named Glen Beck who worked on this movie, its in the opening credits xD

  • @Congest

    hahahaha

  • The original Tea Bagger.

  • hey does the scene where hes sitting uncomfortably with this guy exist on youtube? id like to watch it over and over its SO funny. hes holding something in his hand while this guy is sitting right next to him and grabbing one of his arms and telling him about some conspiracy or something. and sellers is just like "yes yes.." all scared haahhahh

  • @telltalemse I just posted it

  • @telltalemse I just posted it.

  • Sterling Hayden should've at least been nominated for an Academy Award here...

    thumbs up if you agree!

  • @TheOresteia1992 He should have received an additional award merely for keeping a straight face.

  • @TheOresteia1992 HE WAS GREAT DID YOU SEE HIM IN THE MOVIE ''THE LAST COMMAND'' HIS FINEST ROLE-HE PLAYED JIM BOWIE!!!

  • Sterling Haden is the best.

  • Ripper needs a good wash and brush up, water on the back of the neck. Does wonder for a man.

  • Ripper is my moral and spiritual leader.

  • he reminds me of glenn beck

  • Yep, Jack was right !!!!

  • I think that I have figured out all of the hidden meanings in this film. Maybe not. I know what a "merkin" is, do you?

  • Mandrake's delivery is f'n perfecto!!!

  • Eight commie preverts don't like these clips.

  • "Feed me!" you said, Jack, and I fed you!

  • Glenn Beck's grandfather there...

  • @anonUK I was thinking the same thing

  • Jews: It's crazy to oppose communism. Yeah right

  • What a fantastic acting job.

  • I am going to name my dog, car, sandwich, and girlfriend Sterling.

  • Take a look a look of what we have in the White House. Instead of Patton we have patent leather. Think how far you fallen as an American. Think of what your father or grandfather was compared to you. You worm you, you lousy worms to let someone like Obama in the White House.

  • @virtualzhbl - I? Me? No, sir!
