the bonus stages on 2 in my opinion were harder than both 1 and 3. Those bombs would get me everytime at the later stages and I would miss the emeralds by 1-3 rings. It was frustrating as hell.

another way was go to a bonus stage for the rings and beat it. then reset it. after that you be in the first stage again. then keep on doing that till you get all the emeralds. then super sonic on first stage. just another glitch i used when i had the console. try it and it does work. not sure work for emluator but for a console it does.

heres the code to turn super sonic.

1. go to options, then go to the music and play this music in order 19, 65, 9, 17

2. while still in the options menu hold "B" and press start, then you'll go back to the title screen

3. Hold "B" again and press start, you should be taken to a special menu where you get to warp to any level of your choice

4. At the bottom right corner of the screen theres a music list, play music in order 4,1,2,6

5. choose level, collect 50 rings and jump.

He probably turned him off. Know how annoying he is in special stages? They think because you have Tails collecting rings is easier, when all he really does is blow himself up. Basically he just makes special stages harder.

Here's a tip. If you bounced to the left of the screen using the spring you used at 8:48, you would have found a secret star post. It's better to use that as the first entry into the special stage in act 2 as it'll give you an extra chance to get all the emeralds should you mess up once.

on second part of emerald hill, there is one more savepoint, so you can loose one special stage and still be able to become supersonic before chemical planet. use the last yellow jumper you "jump over" before entering first special stage, to jump as left as u can. you reach a platform with the "first" savepoint in this stage.

@OrganicTastesBetter its not that bad. if you can handle the glitches and handul it well its rather good. i didnt notice any glitches atall when i played it. all games have there mishaps. even in generations i had moments when i glitched and ended up falling throught he floor in chemical plant and sky sanctuary.

@OrganicTastesBetter i have already done it lol. i went deeper, i didnt start getting emeralds until mystic cave. you can get about 3 if your good in act 2. got 2 in oil ocean and got rest in metropolis and last in fwinged fortress. makes the game soo intense leaving emeralds till last minute.

The starting sequence was great but the gameplay sucks. Sega just needs 2d sonic with his powerups, his spindash and his sidekick tails and friend/enemy knuckles. Sega needs to remove his homing attacks and his other crap.

Yes I myself have found out that there are so many checkpoints in Emerald Hill that you can get all the Chaos Emeralds in Emerald Hill Zone. And playing as Knuckles is an added bonus considering he does not lose his rings when he leaves the Special Stage! So you can just hit another checkpoint

Also, in debug mode, go to Emerald Hill and place a bunch of invisible waterfalls until the game slows down, and Sonic will turn green, sometimes yellow.

i have those same codes nintendobrad but u forgot to menchine that after you put in the code for the level select you have to press select and B (i think) (start and B for game cube sonic mega collection select and squre for ps2 versoin) now that your on the level select place you can put in the debug code or put in all emeralds but remember to hold down B (GAMECUBE/GENISES) or squre (ps2) while you pick a level to make it work

I never really bothered to get the Chaos Emeralds because I always failed horribly at the special stages. So it was more "can't" than "wouldn't" really. I don't think there's ever been a Sonic game where I've ever actually been good at the special stages. I just felt they got in the way of the actual gameplay.
