  • Went to High School with these guys. :)

  • i stole this album from my sister when i was still in highschool. what a good decision

  • Man I miss the 90s

  • \m/ \m/

  • obviously not a bright person.

  • derrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • This song rocked HARD. I hear the Verve Pipe does "family friendly" concerts at elementary schools now. That's awful! They are too talented to have to resort to that. But I guess they need to make money. Pretty sad. People ignored their second and third albums for junk like Limp Bizkit and Kid Rock. Looking back over a decade now, I can view both and realize how talented this group was, and that the rock/rap hybrid stuff was shit.

  • you should "own" the album....no fluff just good stuff!

  • this was the only good song these guys ever did...

  • @jayrey1974 The Freshman?

  • @corywarren09 pfff dont make me puke the freshman sucks donkey balls!!! i could not believe how gay of a song that was after a masterpiece such as this this was put out.

  • i miss this kind of energy in music. these guys capture it perfectly.

  • My...how dean karr music videos always took over MTV. We miss you. :(

  • I have been looking for this song for a while. So glad I found it.

  • I have been looking for this song for a while. So glad I found it.

  • I am going to see them in Ferndale, MI on 12/10 :).

  • yay my friend paul just went to sturgis, mi this last saturday and saw these guys play

  • MAN... I still adore The Verve Pipe. I listened to this album on repeat pretty much. <3

  • @NellaRose

I saw them last night in a bar in Columbia, with about 60 people in attendance!

No shit! It was Un-freaking-believable! Villains was their 3rd song. They still rock the house like nobody's business. i feel blessed to have been there last night after almost 8 years of not getting my Verve Pipe groove on!

  • @DocRockk OHHHH! NICE! I'm SO jealous! I bet it was amazing!!! I forgot how much I really loved them until this video was recommended for me. <3 I'm also really glad to hear that they are still rocking shows. :D

  • @NellaRose

I hear ya, this is My Second Fav band in the world

  • This is a cool song. I remember watching this back in the day. Underrated.

  • @jcsavestheday00

Saw Verve Pipe LAST NIGHT in Columbia MO. What a rare treat! $15 and not even 75 ppl there. Felt like our own private Verve Pipe concert. It was crazy fun!

  • This is a grate and totally underrated song.

  • really underrated song

  • damn i haven't thought of this song in a decade. used to blast it in my underwear, back when jolt soda was the hardest drug i could get my hands on

  • Always thought the bassist had a very cool look.

Great song. Better than the other one, which became the big hit

  • never heard this song before until today.. now i'm playing it for the sixth time

  • this is one of those songs you wish the volume level had no limit!! I keep wanting to turn it up and up and UP! Rocks like hell!!

  • damn, I miss these guys. this song often gets overlooked, sadly enough

  • love this song, it's a damn classic from this band.

  • My deer sweet jeebus! I MISS THE 90's!!! Thought I was a young'n. BUT STILL!!! KICK ASS SONG!!!!

  • Great stuff. I still remember turning the CD when I first started working in radio.

  • The transition from this song to Reverend Girl on the album was pure excellence.

  • Mastermike1. ECW used so many good songs in their vids..this was Definately one of em.

  • i think i would high five this song.... i mean if it had arms, was a person, was alive, and liked me enough to hang out...

  • man i used to LOVE this song gosh darn

  • I remember when they used this on ECW for Shane Douglas one episode.

  • @mastermike1 Yep I remember :)

  • @mastermike1 They did in his match vs Al Snow for the ECW World Title. Look at ECW Wrestlepalooza 1998 15/17.

  • GREAT SONG

  • Such power and emotion in this song! Definitely one of the greatest hits to ever come out of the 90's, hands-down!

  • the 90s was the last of good music, the naughtys have been the worst years of music history. only sound ive truly enjoyed during this time was "love is noise" by the verve.

  • This song is love.

  • They released some other good rockin alternative guitar rock songs on the next album (# 4) the self titled "The Verve Pipe" with the radio hit "Hero" (not the Foo Fighters song). Their 4th album "Underneath" had the song "Colorful" on it & it was featured on the Rock Star movie soundrtrack. These guys are now back together and writing new material.

  • This album (also called Villans) was actually their 3rd album. Here in the south The Verve Pipe's first song released on local rock radio was "Cup Of Tea" which I think is their best and is much heavier and alternative than both "Villians" & "Freshman". All of us local bar rock bands were covering "Cup Of Tea" and when they released "Freshman" and us bands were forced to cover "Freshman" after that of course cause everybody requested it. Good band & good songs.

  • yea if i remember correctly this was the follow up to freshman and it was not as well received obviously but i think its much better and not as wimpy

  • Always actually liked this one more than Freshmen. Wasn't nearly as big a hit, though.............go figure.

  • the 90s ah what good music, now theres hardly nothing

  • I know it seems like now music is more based on looks instead of actual talent.

  • I remember seeing this video a few times when I was in the 7th or 8th grade. I always thought "Villains" was a lot better than "Freshmen."

I also always thought the frontman looked like Ellen DeGeneres LOL.

  • another good tune from the 90s

  • Man, do I ever miss 120 mins... MTV sucks now

  • Don't say that man, if you're willing to stay up till about 5:30 am you'll get a solid 15 minutes of music videos on MTV lol

  • @pjameleven no shit buddy, did BET take over every good thing about MTV. They play head bangers ball once a week at frigging 2 am in the morning.

  • @pjameleven

Hell yeah! That show introduced me to so much great rock music!

  • @pjameleven it never really went away. its on vh1 classic usually late at night

  • @pjameleven That's true I miss the old MTV so much now all they show is wak ass reality shows all day

  • @pjameleven It's sucked for a long time.

  • @pjameleven its still on, its on VH1 Classic now. Just about any weekend after 2 AM.

  • 120 minutes lol i remember

  • i fucking love this band

  • Great Song!

  • LOVE THIS SONG

  • east lansing? like altec lansing?

  • More like East Lansing, MI

  • Great video!

  • I still have this CD somewhere, played it countless times since it came out. Totally underrated.

  • Yay! I've been occasionally searching for this and Hero. Every time I had searched I would find pages upon pages of Freshmen which I just never appreciated when it came out. I dislike it more because it eclipses their other songs in terms of attention.

  • See how they twist and shout??

  • the singer released an album a few years ago called 'resurrection', it's brilliant.

  • This band is the coolest and so under rated!

  • I luv this album and song XD

  • Detroit band, loved them before they got famous and were makin the local rounds. This song is in my opinion the best, just fits my taste a bit better lyrics are nice and sounds alot like them from when i first saw them. Good stuff~

  • thought they were from East Lansing...

  • @ronhelf Yep, from the campus of Michigan St. Uni !

  • They are from East Lansing

  • This song is so under rate by 90's alt rockers. Even today when I need some inspiration to write essays and short stories I listen to it a couple times. A short story I got an award for in high school was inspired by it's lyrics.

  • The whole album was way underrated and it's too bad, I really like-love almost every song on the album (except #13, sorry guys).

  • Loved this vid when it first appeared. Very effective use of cam angle where the lead singer appears to be pulled across the screen. Love the intense playing, especially the over the top guitar feedback. Heck, I still have the cd single of this song which I pull out and jam at a ear piercing level. Thanx for posting this vid. Brings back some good memories.

  • My favorite Verve Pipe song. I can hear this over and over.

  • i seriously love this song, video, and band

  • I forgot all about this song! Oh the college memories...

  • I still have this song on my memory too...

I knew this song about twelve years ago, in a talk show presentation(i don't remember the name)... i was just looking for this video (i had it recorded in a VHS tape) and then i found this, the official video, which i didn't know.

If you find the video a described above please send me a message!
