  • Helen Mirren Still very sexy at 60-65 as at 20-25 may all the women of the world follow her lead. Very intelligent also.

  • I love Helen..She is so wonderful.

  • man id love to go back in time and fuck her

  • Good grief: reading youtube comments sometimes gives me such a headache...

There are NO honours in the Queen's personal ability to give or deny - any honour "recommended" by the government MUST be given. Being a xenophobe and calling an entire country names does not alter that fact - it certainly does not make the issuer of such insults any more likely to be correct in his ignorant ranting.

Others of a more rational outlook may wish to look up the phrase "consitutional monachy".

  • i dont care about royalty

  • Americans are so damn ignorant!..Damehood, is the highest honour given by the British monarchy (Queen, Royal Family) - not the goverment. It recognises people who have had outstanding achievements in their field i.e Services to drama, music, literature, medicine etc. This then means that the woman can use the title Dame e.g Dame Judi Dench. For the men they have the title of Sir e.g Sir Roger Moore.

  • actually they are chosen by the government, not the monarch. all the royal family do is a ceremonial occasion where they present the award. half the time the queen has no idea who she's knighting or otherwise!

  • Incorrect! The goverment can only nominate, puts forward people who are worthy of an honour.. Then the queen, having recieved information about all the recipients achievements etc decides if, and what rank, someone should get the honour - NOT THE GOVERMENT! Knighthoods or other honours can only be given by Monarchs.

  • That's only really true in a legal sense. In practice, the monarch's duty in giving honours is ceremonial; by convention the monarch abdicates the task of selecting recipients to the government.

This is indicative of the monarch's wider role. Similarly, while the Queen has the legal right to dissolve parliament or refuse to enact legislation, in practice this is no longer done - or even considered.

  • or even considered until....Now!!!!

  • @Teezer44 a bit harsh and generalising perhaps? While it is irritating when people don't attempt to learn anything about other places than their own but at the same time you can't expect people to know everything about how it is over here. It's hardly one of the most important parts of British culture imo. It is useful of you to explain it of course but you don't need to be negative.

  • I love her so much. I want to be her friend.

  • I love the actress and the woman :-)

  • why do they allways call her a dame. how do you become a dame.

  • What if you're a man?

  • it is an horno given out by the British Government, it is an acknowledgement of work well done. The offical term id Dame Of the British Empire(DBE), there are alo other honors like the Comander of the British Empire(CBE) etc....

  • Its an Honour given by the Queen. its like a Knighthood for women

  • She is amazing...the list is short but mighty...I think of Glenn Close, Meryl Streep, Kevin Kline, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Katherine Keener...they just have this amazing persona and grace and dignity in everything they do...and when they are on the screen, you are just drawn into them...they don't just portray a character, they inhabit it and we are all the richer for it. Acting is so hard, and these people are artists who make it look so easy...and we are blessed to have them. THANK YOU!

  • amazing dame love her

    fucking genius actor

would love for her to do a film with merryl streep

  • im gonna ditto your ENTIRE comment. couldn't have said it better!

  • Awesome Dame !

  • Total class.

  • god, i know! she is so undescribably SEXY. i just love her. she makes my blood boil in the best way possible. my god.

  • At 60 years old Helen Mirren is still one of the most beautiful women in the world. I've had a crush on her since Excalibur and it has never gone away.
