Clare Torry is the original singer of this beautiful song. I almost wrote ballad, but that's because I think of great things when I hear this emotional outpouring.
Nobody can top the original singer though. She just did it for everybody :-) I don't she did much work after but you wouldn't want to after that. She gave her heart and soul and left!! Brilliant
@TheStarJuggler dong matter if your a thug or a gangster everyone has a weakness and ill guarantee no matter what form of life ur from give them 2 minutes of floyd they will experience all sorts of emotions ...the craziest madarse on the planet would weep at certain stages of the famous floyd trust me
I guess I was 15 when I heard this the first time...and I remember getting goose bumps all over...absolutely mesmerised that's what I was.....and even 25 years later the effect of this incredible song hasnt altered a bit..i still get mesmerised and the goose bumps !!
We all bleed red and we all come from the Most on High God. Even though you last few are a childish embarrassment to humanity, I am hoping you will grow up someday. All 3 performers were brilliant, perfect in every way, and very beautiful women and even more beautiful spirits. I feel a real connection to them and all humanity when they pour their souls into this particular song. Cinder is burnt, Dcayed is just that and virtue08 simply has none. May Christ help you all to wake up.
@TheStarJuggler That's totally understandable because "The dark side of the moon" is the greatest album to listen to while stoned... ever. That's why they Fucking love it.
yes claire torry is original but check out 1st girl in 1988 delicate sounds of thunder...best in my opinion...so much emotion and really captured the mood of the song
No she is not. Clare Torry sang the well known female solo on this song. She is a British singer who is mostly known for performing the wordless vocals on Pink Floyd's "The Great Gig in the Sky" on the 1973 album The Dark Side of the Moon.
It was Sam Brown, quite well known British singer (her most famous song is "You'd better stop"). In 2002 she took part in David Gilmour "In Concert"- live at Meltdown Festival. Looking at her back in 1995 I had the same feeling as below ;)
the version close to the original & that was unbelievable live was with 3 backing singers one of which was durga mc broom if im not mistaken...absoulutly blew my fucking head off..... but all versions are so powerfulyou cant knock em
This chic would be a great blues singer. Not bad but I like Clare Torre's original improv the best. To come up with that like she did was pure genious.
Sam Brown, the blonde, crushes this sone in a way that even the original vocalist, Clare Torrey, would be stunned by. Sam even blasts the incredibly touching follow-up from long-time Floyd backup singer Durga McBroom.
