I love this show and the music. Glassmen played some of it as well in 2002, and that was a great show (the flugelhorn solo was amazing). I'm excited to hear about Phantom using it this summer.
Well done. I listened to the Phantom auditions playing the 2010 show which includes the New Moon... 200 Phantom audutioners, incredible powerful sound! Can't wait to see the finished Phantom show.
Here is another poster who has practiced the spelling of "cheese" over and over but who has as yet to offer something to an intellectual conversation.
When I was younger and watched this show in finals, I really didn't grasp just how difficult the execution was. And WOW, the musicality of this group every year just makes my head explode. (A great feat considering the band that was second was Carmel.) Looking back, the genius is well distributed between the design and the performance.
I have to say that I am in this video. I too was a bass clarinetist in the this show. This show brings great memories of a great and cohesive group of people. LC Rocked the Dome with this show and I am very honored to have partipated in this show.
I am formar Spirit brass, and, though I was not in this show, my best friend, who is in the gaurd, her older sister was in the bass clarinet! The same day they won it was her B-day, so she got to hold the trophy and they have a picture of her with it. This show is an inspiration to all Marcheres out there.
This is so freaking awesome! You guys competed in Nationals in Indianapolis right? Well, if you guys did, I think San Marcos High Shool Marching Band also performed there. They're from Santa Barbara, CA. Great job!
This is the kind of marching band I sometimes wish I was in. I'm in a small town marching band with only 38 people including guard, and I love it. But I sometimes wish we could do the things a big band like this can, without losing the advantages of a small band. You guys are amazing, truly a spectacular performance.
my marching band has a good drill.... but not this good.... you guys deserved grand nationals.... i hope we make it there... we got first saturday at a cometition... good job guys...
Yeah, our drill is pretty cool too. We have a band of 105 and we have a 60 somethin' piece drill. I love our hits. This is a pretty cool lookin' drill though.
Hmm... My band played that last year but, it was called Ascension. And here I thought all our shows were orginals. I like your arrangment better then ours though.
Does anyone have a recording of this? Please contact me

Tommy Allen was the drum major for the Cavaliers in '06. Great drum majors come from great schools.

Indeed... JD Shaw has arranged a masterpiece this year with the musical selections that are in the program.
PR has high class and power... they don't need any cheesy folding chairs to be Champions again.
rebeltag 2 years ago 4
No. They just need somebody to write something other than a ghastly, hideous drill. But thank God they didn't use chairs, Doosh.

For real, the piece is 41 minutes long. There's plenty of music for them to go through.

Yeah, PR is copying marching bands now.
The more accurate characterization should be; "we don't have an original idea among us, and we have the largest staff EVER."
or,
"This Moon has grown dark because of his Son"
or,
"here's another show made of cheese"
or,
"Just another cheesy show."
gipwhiz 2 years ago
just because they're using the same music doesn't necessarily mean they're copying anyone.
