put this in a 3400lb Syclone/Typhoon run a 6L90 w the adapter flywheel BAMN 640hp awd truck knock down 18-20mpg use factory boost guage...OR in the the TBSSs
i want one of those so bad,,,,but they are waaaay to $. its bad that the normal working man can no longer afford to have just the motor of his dreams....much less the car. ill work my whole life and never get one until theres like an ls26 and i find one ragged out with 170k on it. the people will laugh at me as the fly above while i still travel by ground.
What is the finish on the LS7 block at 3:52? It's amazing!
I had some ceramic coated stuff done recently that came out looking just like polished aluminum. Then it got heated up to 1700° and it's not so blingy anymore. I've hand-polished all the aluminum stuff in my engine bay & that was a ton of work. I powder coated the block, basically everything iron. It won "King Of Bling" twice among other trophies.
But if that's a polished aluminum block, I think I'm going to cry like a bitch.
I might have put my foot in my mouth when saying third of the weight but with this motor your making big block power and at a phenomonal MPG rating on pump gas. Yeah in all out racing the Merlin BB would be the way to go if you wanted to run 8.0's in the quarter but would you commute in an 800 incher? My point was I would rather go the LS9 route instead of building some border line streetable big block that knocks down 4MPG's on the freeway and ways quite a bit more.
@noobas00 Ls9 is an Ls3 with a blower and has 2 cil. a side that the sleeves are touching wear the Ls7 has a stouter block and non of the cilinder sleeves touch an Ls3 is 418 pounds an Ls7 is 450 pounds so you have it wrong it is the other way around
You're exaggerating just a bit there buddy. Even a Merlin Superblock with its 11.625" deck height (versus a 9.8" production block) won't weigh anywhere near 1500 lbs. when fully assembled. And its cast iron too. Those blocks have the potential to go over 800 cubes, and make about twice the torque of an LS9, all in a naturally aspirated package. Their mega displacement makes them destined for track use, but their sheer output gives them an edge in their class.
@jdubcbr600 the bigges't problem with big blocks I think is the weight of the valves themselves slamming into the valve seats it's somthing to consider wen opting for a big block the benafit of the big block is just VIOLENCE
The LS7 uses a 4.125' bore, with a 4" stroke crank. The LS9 uses a 4.060" bore, and 3.62" stroke crank. Other than the supercharger, those are the most notable differences.

@SuperVAIK imagine if GM used the LS7 as a base motor for a new turbo motor. That would eat just about anything on the street.

if you got money to blow get an ls9... if not... get an ls1 and mod it a bit to make the same power... it would be much much cheaper

The LS9 is built on LS6, because LS7 has thinner cilinder walls. Luv the cars with this engine

It's the LS3, not the LS6.

Piss on a big block when you can have one of these at a third of the weight.
jdubcbr600 2 years ago
haha true! Get a little more boost on this car... And your making 572 Big Block Power and 1/3 the weight like you said lmao

Isn't the LS9 basically a LS7 with a blower?
They said something about this on chop cut rebuild
ArMyStRoNg2003 2 years ago
the LS7 is a 427. Its the LS3 supercharged. 376 cubic inch. Thats the major differences
DontEverJudgeMe666 2 years ago
ummm no. This is basically a LS3 witha blower
Camaros5678 2 years ago 2
no, it is similar, but uses a different compression ratio, more oil passages

very nice, what did you say that your web site is? thanks and keep up the good work!
bigbukhuntr 2 years ago
ls7 has a forged crank, titanium rods, and
is way more capable of producing massive power
rmm2424 2 years ago
Not blown it isnt...
The reason GM did not use the LS7 is because the cylinder walls are too thin and they couldnt keep the engine reliable at these power levels.
booker357mag 2 years ago
wana bet
ls6guy 2 years ago
Yeah right. The LS9 is just as capable.
N20LT4 2 years ago
no its not. Read up on it. GM COULD NOT keep the motor together using the LS7. The LS9 is much stronger.
