@Peacekeeper7 While there were certainly more challenging times in bootcamp, the first 24 hours was the worst for me personally. You go from free civilian to idiot recruit as soon as you step off the bus and it's one hell of a culture shock that's impossible to prepare for. You won't know anybody at first and won't be able to do anything right or fast enough. It's important to know that it's all by design. The DI's know what they're doing and you'll get through it fine.

hey kid, they stop counting at 20 pull ups, and 100 situps. don't matter if you can do more. you'll see when you enlist. They have you do an IST. its a physical fitness test. pullups, situps, and a mile and a half run. all timed and counted. you do it at bootcamp, and before you ship.

I'd like to have the 'Big Difference' explained to me.

Marines are bad ass SOB's and are treated to be just that. However the difference from a Marine to say an Army Ranger or Navy SEAL? Basic is just hell from start to finish, no matter what your training in.
