Will the U.S. Help Iraqi Interpreter Seeking Asylum?

The US government should give priorities to asylum visas for people like Omar. There were many like him left behind in Iraq under constant threat for working and helping the US Army. Is that their reward now; Instead of giving green cards to scum from Mexico and China that don’t even speak English. When was the last time a Mexican or a Chinese saved any Americans’ lives?

The US government should be ashamed of themselves.

Most of the translator did a good job out there , everyday they are risking in them won life to help them country by giving the american and the Iraqis the ability to understand each others and the result for that is getting killed , lost a family member or at lest displacement

yes you can go to the UNHCR first to register there and tell them about your experience of work as interpretor. You must have all docs like recommendations by your officers..etc

The U.S. is really droppiong the ball on allowing Iraqis into the United States...I'm currently working on getting an Iraqi Translator who I worked with who was threatened by 5 masked gunmen in Baghdad and fled to Ukraine where the local Arabs won't employ him because they tell him "you cheated Saddam Hussein" (Arabs think Saddam was great because he employed more Jordanians and Syrians than Iraqis) and he is a Sunni Muslim as well. Its a real uphill battle all the while Mexicans are flowing in

You are right! If we have room for millions of uneducated unskilled immigrants why cant we admit these Iraqis who have a valuable ability? Let them teach our schoolkids Arabic! Our military and CIA will need lots of Arabic speakers in the years to come. We should pay the Iraqis a bonus for each kid who passes a proficiency test, and pay each student who passes the test, as an incentive.

I didn't need a translator when I was in Iraq. I'm part Lebanese and I knew enough arabic to get by. Only American citizens who can get a security clearance make $100,000 a year so you wouldn't qualify for shit anyway. The Iraqis over there are local nationals and I believe they are making 1500 a month now which is great money if you are an Iraqi. And try and tell me what is going on over there smart ass since I've been in Iraq every year since 2004
