All the negative comments are a little silly. It says their INSPIRATION was Marilyn Monroe. Not that the model was attempting to BE Marilyn Monroe. It's not like she's trying to be an impersonator, they took inspiration from Monroe.
Look at the title; inspiration! They are only _inspired_ by her looks, nothing more. They are not trying to make her look exactly like Marilyn or copy her looks. Doutzen is very beautiful in her own way, and so was Marilyn.
She's beautiful and looks a lot more like Marilyn than most people who try. But whatever it was that Marilyn had, beyond her looks, no one will ever be able to recreate it.

There are beautiful models of all different shapes, so the fact that they chose her reflects society's tastes.

It took me a few years but I lost a ton of fat off my body through working out. Weight isn't about genetics or hormones nearly as much as just pure exercise and eating well.

The kind of effort it would take is quite literally impossible without a surgeon to carve out all those perfect lines. @rockerhead247 There isn't just ONE standard of beauty. In some Asian countries it's desirable to have lighter skin, and here we worship the sun and tanning beds. In Jamaica, curves are embraced and thin women there try to add on weight. Change doesn't happen overnight. I think our sense of beauty comes not only from what we see, but what we as a society celebrate as being beautiful.

The standard is always changing, but I think the point that the people who care about this topic are trying to make is that we should celebrate bodies that are healthy. This is where the real disagreement is, because what is "healthy" spans a very wide category, but you wouldn't know that by looking at who we glorify and who we overlook.
Doutzen Kroes is absolutely gorgeous. No, there will never, ever be another Marilyn Monroe. I think that everyone is aware of that. The people who created this shoot are just taking inspiration from Marilyn's insane beauty and appeal.

Where does everyone else get their makeup? I tend to get samples for free from 'gratismakeupsamples', just got some wonderful L'Oreal makeup recently.
L'oréal Paris makeup is cheap but from drugstores. And so, it would not last long time. If you use Mac Cosmetics then they will last longer but they are a bit expensive. So people have the choice to spend lots of money on a good product which will last 2 years or so, or they could always buy cheap makeup that will last about 2 months, and keep replacing it. The woman in this video has chose the last option and the make up did look good. Although she will have to replace it every 2 months....
thats not true. mac has the same ingredients that drugstore makeup does. it's completely saturated with things that are not healthy for your skin. Not to mention overrated. They do carry a few good colors as far as eyeshadows, blushes, but thats about it.

There and men and women all over the country working on broadening the the definition of what makes a body beautiful. It kind of sounds like you just have a problem with feminists. I believe if you care about women, their happiness, their equality, or their standing among men, then you're a feminist. People seem to use it as if it's a dirty word though.

I mean the hypocritical group of women who believe themselves to be better than others and, therefore, think that everything should be exactly as they want. But you have to understand that it isn't wrong to admire a certain body style because everyone has their own view. Now many views are similar, but you can't "broaden" the idea of beauty.

I remember when having a flat butt was beautiful and now the opposite is embraced. You're right that it is not wrong to admire a certain body style, but I do believe it's wrong to expect every woman to fit into one narrow box.

@rockerhead247 There isn't just ONE standard of beauty. In some Asian countries it's desirable to have lighter skin, and here we worship the sun and tanning beds. In Jamaica, curves are embraced and thin women there try to add on weight. Change doesn't happen overnight. I think our sense of beauty comes not only from what we see, but what we as a society celebrate as being beautiful.

The standard is always changing, but I think the point that the people who care about this topic are trying to make is that we should celebrate bodies that are healthy. This is where the real disagreement is, because what is "healthy" spans a very wide category, but you wouldn't know that by looking at who we glorify and who we overlook.

Doutzen Kroes is absolutely gorgeous. No, there will never, ever be another Marilyn Monroe. I think that everyone is aware of that. The people who created this shoot are just taking inspiration from Marilyn's insane beauty and appeal.

L'oréal Paris makeup is cheap but from drugstores. And so, it would not last long time. If you use Mac Cosmetics then they will last longer but they are a bit expensive. So people have the choice to spend lots of money on a good product which will last 2 years or so, or they could always buy cheap makeup that will last about 2 months, and keep replacing it. The woman in this video has chose the last option and the make up did look good. Although she will have to replace it every 2 months....

thats not true. mac has the same ingredients that drugstore makeup does. it's completely saturated with things that are not healthy for your skin. Not to mention overrated. They do carry a few good colors as far as eyeshadows, blushes, but thats about it.

I get that they use skinny models on runways, but I'm not talking about that point. I was saying that in this case, using a skinny model is appropriate, seeing as Marilyn was always so thin for much of her life. Actually, it would be stupid to use a heavier model to imitate the skinny Marilyn. In other situations, using a thin model to represent a heavy woman is silly, but in this situation, it fits.

I'd like to see the documented research that you read that told you Marilyn was ever skinny. I bought one of her size 12 dresses when they auctioned off some of her estate property at Christies a few years back; She may have popped her share of pills and booze but she never did heroine, crack, or enough cocaine to amount to any significant wieghtloss. The autopsy document is considered to be a tertiary or secondary source at its best. Her autopsy record was doctored for press and media release by the executives at the studio holding her contract becuase they wanted the public to believe she was fully capable of commiting scuicide that way no one could openly contest the cause of death. So unless you have a document, written in the hand of the physician who performed the autopsy, I have to beg to differ with you.
