@solutionxyz I'm sad though that no one really goes with the official spelling for the names given for the stuff in Kamen Rider really. This is really messed up with the many spellings of the letters.

For example with Super Sentai: who would spell Gokaiger "Goukaiger" when there's no freaking ウ (u). Seriously, there's a ー to show that the Japanese Katakana letter ゴ (go) is pronounced a bit longer than usual.

And anyone who is against this I'll tell you: It was born that way! No reason given!

@bawad01 How is it proper? ー is just used to prolong the pronunciation of Japanese letters. Saying that they're both the same would result in Gokaiger to sound wrong from the way it's said. If we substitued the ー with ウ it would seriously sound wrong, and that's why the spelling "Goukaiger" doesn't really look right and will make the pronunciation sound wrong too. It would also be impossible because ウ is pronounced the same way う is in the alphabet.

@HistoMagouri Regardless of what the Romaji spelling is, ーand ウ are prounounced the same, just as how レ ー and レイ are pronounced the same. It is absolutely true that they are completely different kana (ー isn't really a kana, but let's assume it is) but they do sound the same, like how C and S sometimes sound the same even though they are different letters. Example, "Geisha" is not prounced "Gay-sha" but "Gee-sha", in other words the "i" is nothing but an elongation of "e".

But judging by the stuff you posted about the details here, I realized that all my life I've mispronounced the word "Geisha". That's just like the time that I found out that I was peeling a banana wrong. Wow.

@HistoMagouri no prob, it took me sometime to figure it out too. The thing is in English they shorten the words to make them look easier and less awkward. Example, Tokyo is actually "Toukyou", but since that's just too long and messy for English, it's just shortened to "Tokyo". Sometimes they use the dashes to show a long vowel like in " Tōkyō", but then again that's only used in educational circles and it isn't common in the "real" world.

I've also seen official "English" in anime and tokusatsu, like Tekkaman Blade having been written in a scene on an Airlock as "Air Rock", same with Gundam.

Trust me, Over-Time and Midnight Crew (the guys who did Double, OOO's, Kuuga, and Stronger) translate it as TaJaDor.
