as mentioned, the color chooser is the standard GTK+ widget. The program itself is a thin wrapper in python to send serial data to the chip.
This is as simple hardware-wise as it can get. There are 3 pins output to each of the red, green, and blue leds. These are brightness controlled through PWM. Simple
