I've even seen a crash test where the steering wheel breaks off of the column sending the drivers head into the dashboard.

@Lukeschedel There is nothing to crumple much on the Smart car, the force from the impact would go to your body. SOMETHING has to give. You would killed in the Smart, while at least have a small chance in the Neon. The Chevette or Yugo are also cars I would not want to be in.

@Lukeschedel No, you need to get your fucking shit together. Value has NOTHING TO DO with how safe a car is. A Dodge Neon is $1,000 now because they are OLD. This crash test is OLD. The Smart is $15,000 because it is NEW. In ten years, the price of a Smart will be just as low. Ever heard of DEPRECIATION?! A car loses A good amount of money after it is drive off the floor for 10 years.

@Lukeschedel NEXT SUBJECT. Many old cars from 40-50 years ago have thicker metal. A good amount of them don't take alot of damage. As beautiful as those cars are, and how easy they maybe to fix, they are not the safest thing in the world. Why? NO CRUMPLE ZONES (or airbags and many don't have seat belts). They doesn't usually absorb the force-YOU DO. A car crumpling a little may be a good thing. The Smart has none of that. You bounce around like a helpless speck if you aren't squished by a truck.

@Lukeschedel Something else too, I sometimes laugh at crash test videos. Why? Because you CANNOT simulate EVERY SINGLE THING that goes on and how a car may crash. They only test a few ways the car may get in a wreck. They can NEVER simulate ALL the circumstances.

I'm amazed to see that much intrusion into the passenger compartment. I believe these tests are run at about 45 mph and simulated as if hitting a stationary vehicle. Could you imagine two of these hitting each other head on at 45 miles per hour or a larger vehicle hitting it for that matter. Sure death. You wouldn't find my family in this vehicle!!!
