The Edel Energy is a very old wing and did this kind of thing unless flown carefully. Lucky escape and lucky landing was soft. Still a scarey ride down to the ground and very quick!
Ouch. Looks like a thermal exit where he needed more brake. At that height it's best to pull the brakes and stall the wing to the ground. I am glad he seemed to be ok.
I didnt like the way the edges of that canopy were collapsing on takeoff.
Crazy sport tho. You'd have to be slightly mad to trust your life to an oversized kite

It was a great fly, so what, the last seconds where sad. But what ist that thing on the left side? A small tube, is it a kind of vario?

Rice paddy or not, not many feet higher and the pilot would have been injured, thank God for a lucky escape - was the pilot underweight perhaps?

Wow! Very strange accident, really cant tell what happened there. Something broke inside the wing perhaps? Yay!

The rice paddy (in Scotland it often marsh ground) was clearly a life saver!
