I remember these commercials but I didn't have any of these. It seems like there were other albums very similar to this. "Goofy Greats" or something like that?
OMG, I had this and I've been looking for it forever. This goes all the way back to my childhood. I coveted this whole album and played it every day with my brothers. I couldn't get enough of it.
@12bucklemyshoe1 i have it, do u want a copy? I also have Looney Tunes and Goofy Greats, an am trying to find my coy of Kooky Kountry, do you want any of those too??
Hey our family bought this record album for my sister/I. We saw the advert and convinced the parents. I think we wore it out! I later realized they were old pop songs! K-Tel records were relatively decent. They put up with children playing them often, and never "burned out" after a few plays. Some record companies used piss-poor vinyl, which sounds like crap right on the 1st play, and frazzles out fast. High quality vinyl last 100's of plays, and not "crackle" so loud..
Wasn't there one of these novelty songs about the mummy or something? It seems like I remember seeing a record commercial like this but it had a song about the mummy. I think it had the monster mash on it too.
His show's still on, but most stations have dropped it. Dr. Demento said a couple of years ago that he didn't know how much longer he could keep the show running. I loved it but haven't listened to it since about 1984.
I live in chicago area. I just checked WLUP 97.9 website online. They still have Dr. Demento listed. They are supposed to have a streaming webcast of the radio station online if your interested. 11-1 AM on sunday nights.
Yes, I have definitely heard of Dr. Demento. I even have a letter from him where I clued him in to an obscure rock ditty I knew he'd love. What I meant was Top 40 radio wouldn't use songs like these in their format...think of what was on radio once...The Streak, Purple people Eater, all sorts of funny songs. Those days are gone!
@acholl980 WDRC 102.9 FM!!! Cool! Are they still on AM as well? I remember them from the '70s when I was in high school - played Top 40 with some album rock tossed in for flavor and lots of oldies, then later became all oldies.
"Beans in my ears." Really cool.

@MontagTheMagician I still have a K-Tel album called "Goofy Greats", I think it may have been a year or 2 after the album in this vid.

@clintonearlwalker Ha, yeah, I see it over on the right right now. Probably more or less the same record.

K-Tel released a helluva lot of compilations in the early-mid 70s.

@shelly10538 That song was by Bob McFadden & Dor (Dor was Rod McKuen, believe it or not). It's from either 1959 or 1960.

sorry, I misunderstood. Your right. Maybe that is what top 40 radio needs again. Some good clean funny songs.

Just TRY to put any of those songs on radio these days! No freakin' way!

You never heard of the Doctor Demento show?I imagine he is still on at midnight sunday nights. The show specialized in these type of songs.
