FYI, in America you're allowed to have guns, and you don't need papers saying where you bought them.

Also FYI, if they had kept their mouths shut and denied everything, they'd have gotten away. Cops can't do a search unless they have either:

Permission

OR

Probable Cause

OR

A Warrant.

Because of their answers, the cops got probable cause. If they had kept quiet, the cops would have had nothing to justify the search.
