Hey everyone! We're already in week 10 (can you believe it?!), but there's still a lot of time to go! Check out this week's StogieBoys Pigskin Pick 'Em Preview video where Paul and Glen discuss their picks for the week, some nice stogies, and beautiful women. The politicians in the US are using the tobacco business as a tax cow. They will forever just like they have with alcohol. People that smoke cigars will continue to do so even with the tax hike. This will not effect the islands too much as discussed on this video.
with odummer, what thew hell do you expect? he is all about himself. he wont suffer like the folks in estli trying to make a living to support their families
UNLIKE the cigarette companys they do not seek addiction from there consumers by putting chemicals in the cigarettes, cigars is nothing but pure fresh tabacco that is not ment to be inhailed cigars are occassional traditional elegent and romantic and they are also much much much less leathal then cigarettes and by a long shot. cigars are one thing and cigarettes are another end of story plus its profits more then 80 percent of the economy in south ameriacn countries.
The politicians have the nerve to use tobacco to fund children's health care- that B.S. Something as important as children's health shouldn't be dependent on people smoking cigars or tobacco in general. Why? Because if the tobacco industry drowns because of this tax, there will be no money made from tobacco; hence no money for health care. This is where politicans, mostly Democrats fail humans. Kick them to the curb!
This taxation would take away so much from so many. Why would they want to pass something like this. Its already to the point that you can barely find a place on this planet to enjoy a cigar and now they want to up the taxes on them. Plus, we should think about the increases to our illegal immigrant problem when these taxes create employment issues in these already economically challenged countries. Taxing hand rolled cigars just doesn't make much sense.
It's good that Esteli's population is benefiting from the cigar industry. But I hope that people invest in other industries so that the city can diversify it's economy and doesn't have to depend on only one cash crop.
A tax is one thing, but it doesn't have to cripple the industry. If you increase taxes to the point of significantly reducing the sale of the product you aren't going to get the amount of money you wanted in the first place.
This is typical of American bullies...They just signed a FREE TRADE treaty with these countries then immediadly reneg...how can anyone see Americans as less than bullies when they do not honour the very treaties they impose on these countries.
Joya De Nicaragua are FINE Cigars! We as Nicaraguans are very proud of it. CarolSturges is going to Hell, not even to purgatory, straight to Hell I Tell Ya....
As US citizens we have a right to call our congress men and tell them not to support this tax increase; we all should do so and tell all of our cigar smoking friends to do so as well! The government is not only taking away our hobby and enjoyment but shafting 200 thousand people just to get money to try and socialize our government.
Yeah but you guys want to enjoy hand made cigars at good prices. why don't you buy from China, you are buying everything from there anyways. it would taste awful I bet. YOU ARE GREEDY.
tobacco grown in china tastes nasty, the only thing it is good for is aromatic tobacco blends for pipe smokers. why would you even bring them into the equation? the entire point of this video is to enlighten people about whats going on with the cigar tax, and you were getting angry about it for some reason. I would like to point out that as soon as any and all cigar smokers hear about the tax we use our representation to put a stop to it! also, I just finished smoking a hand rolled cigar, awesom
This is an excelent video to understand the reason why this activity should be reclassified as a handicraft industry, and this activity should excluded from present and future taxes on tobacco products.

This type of taxation is worthy of another Boston Tea Party. If Thomas Jefferson were alive he would duel all of Congress to death.

This is true but he had deep regret after killing Hamilton. Congress, I don't think he'd have so much guilt.
