Can I ask if you have any evidence of that? It's just, I've spoken to a lot of Syrians regarding the protestors and I haven't heard a single report of Hizbollah assisting with the brutal crackdown.

The last thing I read regarding Syria was in today's Independant and it was about how the Syrian authorities are planting mines on the border to stop people fleeing to Lebanon - surely the Hizbollah would have played some role in that if they were assisting Bashar Al-assad?

Does Fisk even know anything about the Lebanese conflict? Lebanon was at peace before the PLO began to infiltrate the refugee camps for which Israel, and not Lebanon, was responsible.

These camps were in South Lebanon, and constituted a gross threat to the stability of Lebanon.

The Lebanese Christians first came under attack at Damour, a tiny isolated village.

Does Fisk talk of this? No. Does he talk about how the PLO unbalanced the whole region deliberately? No.

What about Lebanese Christians? Don't they get a look in? Its their country too. they've been there for 2,000 years. Fisk says, "It all started with Israel's invasion of Lebanon in 1982". But the civil war in Lebanon had been going on for six years by then. Fisk's reporting is very one sided. Its interesting, he's an intelligent man and a fine reporter. But he's not objective. So we can take his reporting for what it is--a passionate, one sided polemic.
