Damn! This show is addicting as nicotine through clips on YouTube. I can never seem to get through the real thing on my hard drive as I find it slow and dull. Maybe, it's just the first season.
@1TtidnaB I don't know if I'd call Stringer Bell a "low life" or "small time." He was a criminal mastermind who had Baltimore wrapped around his finger at several points throughout the series. I'm actually kind of shocked Mcnulty ended up getting him in the end...not soon enough, of course, but still.
I'm just getting into the Wire (watched 7 episodes so far) and I can't fucking believe that these two are Britiish? I think that they're two of the most watchable guys in the whole thing as well. Go En-ger-land.
Yes, they were like brothers and were very close friends, but as time moves on sometimes people just grow apart from each other. The legitimate business was mostly Stringer's real estate deals. When Avon got out, Stringer even told him that they were making so much legitimate money that they didn't even need to worry about selling drugs anymore. Yes, Davis did screw over Stringer, but I'm sure he would've landed on his feet had he not been killed.
@catch22punk he fucked up, he shoulda kept it straight with Avon. At the same time, Avon was a hard-headed motherfucker who didn't have the business mentality that String had. All Avon cared about was territory and rep, not money.
@LeBronForTheWin Yeah, but if anything, Stringer should have cut ties with Avon when he was locked up in the Clink and gone into legitimate business. Ironically, it was his reluctant loyalty to Avon, which lead to his downfall.
@catch22punk They're like brothers and they're partners, if your brother were to get locked up wouldn't you visit him? What legitimate business are you talking about? String tried to but he got played hard by Davis, shieeeeeeeet
Too bad Stringer never made a decision as to which side to choose: the legit side or the drug dealing side. In the end the drug dealing side got him before he decided.
These guys are the best blue-blood actors I've ever see or heard, both of them use American accents very masterfully. Its hard to believe that there British.
greatest nigger on the whole series. Omar great and all, but Stringer is an interesting character. Nah, nah, actually String be my 2nd favorite. Herc and Carver. Not alone. need em together, you know, same place, sime time, you feel me.
and one last thing...stringer really tried to start a union of drug dealers that promoted a non-violence method of selling?? cmon i mean seriously....his own man knew he was losing it
Nah Prop Joe set that up. they called it the co-op. it was mostly the east side dealers, but stringer was gonna jump on it. Stringer always wanted to get further and further from the streets especially after the knockos caught up Avon.
@sddd619 yea i agree i kno prop joe set up da co-op its just stringer was ruthless and smart before that and then wanna get non violent and peaceful when he got in ....even tho omar still had it out for him? i didnt understand how he forgot about omar...
stringer was not as smart as he thought he was....clay davis screwed him over, he never would have got the real estate thing off the ground anyways...
