Ah, the main purpose of the rivets is to hold the two pieces together. When you force the top of the bottle (inner piece) into the lower bottle (outer piece) you want a good tight seal. The rivets hold the inner piece in place once you've pressed it in.
I have noticed also in my experiments with these style stoves that the inner piece will slowly work its way up as it heats up. Same reason I use rivets myself.
I have made maybe a dozen of these and handed them out to friends, They work great, no moving parts, if a jet gets clogged, poke a pin in and your ready for the next burn. Tough enough for a lot of of rough use!
same here, if I give stove - I give one of these, if I show how to build a stove, it's usually one of these. I just have a hard time finding the cottle out here in Northern CA.
JB Weld would probably work, I mainly think the rivets look cool. Especially after building so many soda can stoves, I liked this stove for it's ruggedness.
It's possible the rivets help the alcohol chamber heat more quickly ... but I doubt it. Try JB weld - let me know how it works for you.
Cheap copy of the White Box Stove. At least give them credit for being the first to use this type of bottle. White Box Stoves are one of the most copied around.
yes, I've noticed around here that we can alos get aluminum 'bottles' with aerosols like Butane, perfume, hair sprays, etc. But, it's easier to get the aluminum 'cottles' from Bud-Light.
Qui,in Italia, non vendono le bottiglie Bud,ma possiamo utilizzare le bombolette spray per profumare gli ambienti, sempre in alluminio.Hanno un collo corto che si può allungare con un collare ricavato dalle pareti di una comune lattina.
Good construction.
Here in Italy,Bud bottles, are not marketed, but we can use spray cans ambients perfume(also aluminum). They've a short neck that can will lengthen with a collar made from the wall of a common can.
Nice job.
How much of a gap do you leave at the bottom for the alcohol to pass?
Is there anyone from Minneapolis who can tell me where to get these "cottles"? I can't find them anywhere.

I'm not from Minneanapolis, but Walmart sells budlight in cottles here in VA. Since it's a national chain, I'd suspect they sell them where you are.
