  • are they all dead now....?

  • I'm sorry but I can't even tell these women apart. They all look the same. Which one is Hedy Lamarr?

  • Comment removed

  • i guess i'm growing up in the wrong century:) smoking seemed to be so accepted back then......not so now....but i stll luv my ciggs.....so i say smoke on:)

  • I hate cigarettes but there's nothing like looking at Marlene!!!

  • Smoking is AWESOME! I would do it if it didn't suck so badly... ;-)

Anyone that wants to smoke should be able to...Screw cigarette Nazis...Just remember: No one gets out alive!

  • So? Tobacco companies sponsored many films. The first filmed advertisement made in the silent years showed a judge a priest a mother and another authority figure lighting up. Filmed smoking was and is a tactic to influence the audience that its signifies.

  • Cigarettes were used as a prop in those days...notice that most of them actually never smoked and just push out the smoke, not inhale it. There is a scene where Hedy Lamarr was shown exhaling a puff that took so long to end..it was a scene from "Ecstasy", as she was staring out the window.

  • Great video!!

  • Smoking was sexy in this era. I always love it when those gals lit it up. Now that's style. Smoking on screen these days adds nothing to the movie.

  • HATE SMOKING!!!!!!

    Nice video and music...thanks.

  • Skanky. Smoking just a director's device to make them look like outlaws or hos. Smoking women have poor tase and taste poorly.

  • No one smoked a cigarette like Bette Davis did, Im not a smoker, but watching her movies makes me want to smoke, she makes it look so glamourous, if only they didnt kill you. <3

  • Lauren Bacall at 59.

  • nice!

  • Smoking was more widely accepted back then. And Bette Davis made it look as cool as it could ever look if you ask me. ;)

  • ... ok, now i need a smoke... great video. Its awesome how actress can make you feel this way about something so bad (but so good).

  • Actually, Mae West didn't smoke or drink - but she knew how good it looked! Great video!

  • Now this is Classy.

  • dis s seksi

  • I love this song, is it Sally's Tomato by any chance? You have fabulous taste in music! Could you recommend any other songs like this that you enjoy?

    <3

  • Wow, get a life I wasn't even being rude. I wouldn't be surprise if you smoked weed. And she did not. Just because a video was released doesn't make it true. And you call three simple words an arguement? And I saw the video, it's just a cigarette. Most of the comments on there agree she's not smoking pot. So stop wishin', hun. Cuz it ain't happenin'. And don't waste your time replying. I won't read it or answer it.

  • @SirStantpoort: did you read any of her bios? She didn't even smoke. And I'm gonna remove your rude comment.

  • Sorry I had to write trashy sthings on your video. I was just really upset at his rude comment. If you want you can delete mine. I just had to stand up for Marilyn :)

  • no you're fine. I'll leave your comment there so people would know Marilyn didn't smoke weeds.

  • Oh, alright. We can't let Marilyn's wonderful legacy be ruined by some untrue rumor.

  • Listen, go on Youtube and search for Marilyn Monroe smoking pot

Just because you don't want to see the truth, doesn't mean its not out there.. tss.. Keep living in fantasy..

  • you should read more. and go on youtube less. i don't argue with people who don't have enough knowledge.

  • /watch?v=z58lgSkPXfs&feature=related

    Watch that Now please.

Then come back and comment on me..

  • oh so you were there, had a puff too so you knew it was weeds? haha

ok, i'll stop the argument here. i'm not even a Marilyn fan, but we don't know about the truth, we were not there. so don't talk about it as if we did.

  • The guy who made the video said it was weed, ofcourse he wants to get a good price for his video about ''Monroe smoking pot!'' but still.. It also doesn't look like a joint..

  • I ment it DOES look like a joint, sry, misspelled.

  • Is that Lauren Bacall at 0:58 to 1:01?

  • @gargravestrack Yes :)

  • no she didn't

  • Nice collection

  • Now girls should'nt think that smoking is all glamour now, I mean you get old and start coughing hella

But you only live one life so you might as well do what makes you happy.

By far Marilyn &Audrey looked the classiest!

  • Smoking.., sophisticated, glamorous, relaxing... and healthful!

  • I like to see movies from the time before sanity-fascism...

  • she is vivien leigh in a streetcar named desire

  • Who is that at 0:38? Can't recognize... hm!

  • That's Vivien Leigh playing Blanche DuBois in "A Streetcar Named Desire" 1952. Fabulous movie.

  • Bette Davis - The Great Smoker! :)

  • Noone could make a cigarette sizzle with sex like Marlene Dietrich, and noone could work a room with a cigarette like Tallulah Bankhead

  • Both films with the Great Marlene Dietrich

  • Love Anna13-The one you call Gene Tierney looks like Joan Bennett to me??then Greta &,Ginger Rodgers. After Hedy LaMarr- Greta,& Mae West . At 1:31 it looks to me to be Tallulah Bankhead, and 2:02-Clara Bow??

  • It shows how from the start Hollywood has been a major influence from clothing styles, habits, etc.-though some will argue that Hollywood just "reflects" what is going on.....

  • you. are. amazing. !!!!

  • Nasty! But it's a great compilation of female Hollywood smokers.

  • does anyone know what the last two movies were?

  • thank you so much!

  • would someone mind naming the actresses as they go by? I know quite a few of them, but some are in the dark.

  • Smoking is an important part of our history. I love the actresses in your video.

    -------Ellen

  • Bette Davis was the champion smoker. You couldn't recognize her without her cigarette. In fact, she is on a U.S. postage stamp holding a cigarette. Great video - most interesting.

  • man i miss the old days, when this was class, instead of a "nasty habit"

  • Que Dios te escuche, m'ija. Que divinas se veen. Nasty people make it look like a nasty habit! They're photoshopping these images, making Las Diosas, The Goddesses, look like they're sucking and blowing thin air!

  • in Russia as well an orientation on the western cinema woman-hero type is one of the reasons for smoking, like a mania - womaninrussia com

  • WOW I wish smoking was not deadly! It's funny how it looked so classy back then and now it looks cheap! I think if we hadn't discovered the link to cancer we would all be puffing away! Myself anyway! Bette Davis makes me wanna light up every time I see her!

  • @je3rowe so true, however... I think very few people can still pull sexy and elegant while smoking, myself included lol

I quit because I was so vain, and started to notice a few lines ( I only smoked for about 4 years but at my heaviest I smoked a pack-a-day)

but I loved smoking and want to so badly when I see bette davis too haha madonna, marlene dietrich and marilyn looked so gorgeous too, they have the same effect on me as bette.

  • JOAN AND LUCILLE!! MY people

  • joan crawford in the bathtub, good stuff

  • I almost started to cry because I saw all of my girls (Dietrich, Hayworth, Davis, Garbo) and no Tallu! And then I saw Tallu smoking in the mirror and felt happy again. LOL!

  • 1:36 is Deitrich and I think 1:11 is Garbo

  • heey, does anybody know who is smoking at 1.11 and 1.36?

  • Comment removed

  • so lovely and glamorous. it's such a pity that smoking is a taboo these days.

  • Loved it! Throwback to a better time!

  • How depressing!

  • For me, the most pretty time of the smoking fetish!

  • Who's at 1:07?

This is very Chic and stylist!

Although Lauren brought the ooze, Marlene is certainly the coolest!

  • Joan Bennett, one of the popular femme fatales in Fritz Lang's movies :)

  • A wonderfully classic compilation presented in excellent taste. Thank you!!

  • this is when it all stated for me thanks lauren bacall mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm xxxx

  • i hate smoking but this is sexy! i'm not encouraging though

  • this is nice. i can't wait 'til i turn 18! i'm getting a 14" holder.

  • Awesome video, Real Good.

  • My fav. all time smoker back then was lauren bacall.. back then it made women look classy, today not so much!

  • It was considered glamorous to smoke in that time and many movie stars did it. Back then they did not know that smoking produced cancer and was fatal. There was no "Surgeon General's Warnings" and knowledge that smoking was bad for you until the 80's.

  • You mean the 60's, right? The Surgeon General's office released the first report on the dangers of smoking in 1964, although there had been studies and reports as early as the 1940's.

Yes, smoking is dangerous. That said, it's a legal product and if second-hand smoke is bad, there should now be "smoking clubs" where people are allowed to smoke, if they choose.

  • Thank you.

If you do other vids like this with these beautiful stars, I'd love to see them.

  • That would be my pleasure. Thank you!

  • can you tell us the name of the song?

also what other songs like this can u recommend?

    it is soothing.

  • What was the music used for this?

  • Marlene Reigns. And all those fabulous women, the Divine Garbo, Exquisite Hedy, Beautiful Rita, Flawless Crawford, Indomitable Davis..Loved it.

  • bette, greta, joan- all looked fantastic smoking, but for me nobody beats marlene. she had smoking down to an art. what would classic films be without the cigarette! fantastic vid, one of my favs!

  • I agree! Marlene is the all-time best smoker!!!

  • Excellent videos I really enjoyed it!

  • Of course there are no little debby eating fatties smoking here. Of course it looks glamorous. This women could be shoveling manure and it would look glamorous.

  • What movie is at 1:20?

  • Now that I've been smoking this was divine to watch ~ Marlene coming downstairs in glorious man~drag ~ what is the name of the beautiful music?

  • This comment was posted by hoffmann9471, which I accidentally removed. I'm sorry Peter :(:

That is a very nice and lovable smoker video. Bette Davis and Marlene were really "strong" smokers. The others here also smoked at that time. It was "zeitgeist" and a bit emancipation till the 60s/70s. Some stopped or smoked less later. But evident is that Bette and Marlene became very old !

To answer the question of some comments here:

The cup goes to Bette and Marlene (together)

    ha ha.....

    Uncle Pete

  • Back than smoking was classier and more glamorous. It was like an art.

  • What a cool and stylish video!

    Thank you!

  • There's a saying about joke's, that "the old ones are the best" you could say that about georgeous smoking females as well.

  • Great Video!

    Even the world`s most famous

    smoker is in it!

    Wonderful!!

    Thanks for sharing!

  • who's the world famous smoker? audrey hepburn? bette davis?

  • Hehe, she meant Marlene Dietrich :)

  • Thanks you An!

    You beat me to it!!

  • Marlene Dietrich, of course!!

    Who else?

  • Actually, the real world famous lady smoker was not in the video. That title without a doubt surely should go to Tallulah Bankhead (At an average daily consumption of 150 cigerettes, she leaves the competition well behind). Unfortunately, the habit did end up killing her.

  • Yes she was. At 1:33. But best smoker doesn't mean to address to who smokes the most, but who brings smoking to an art. In that sense, Marlene reigns. :)

  • I never knew that you guys meant best smoker. i just thought you meant world famous smoker as in who was notoriously known for smoking and I thought it was definitely Tallulah, but point taken. I must say that I had watched the video a couple of times and totally missed her at 1.33, thanx for pointing it out to me. :-)
